About the role
We are looking for a senior External Affairs leader to oversee a busy multi-disciplinary team to drive our reputational, influencing and engagement work across our national outreach, this is not a new post - it is one that already exists within the company's staffing structure. This is a highprofile position within the organisation, with responsibility for leading an integrated approach to delivering our strategic objectives across government relations, policy influencing, communications and marketing and audience engagement functions.

External Affairs sits within CEC’s Strategy & Communications directorate alongside Policy & Impact and Strategic Business Engagement and plays a key role in helping these teams and other sectorled teams across CEC to engage audiences, communicate evidence led practice and to help inform and influence positively on future approaches to driving high quality careers education.
The role brings together three key areas:
- Corporate Affairs and government and policy engagement, including parliamentary relationsand wider external influencers on careers, skills and education policy and provision
- Communications, inclusive of press and media relations and stakeholder communications across multi-channels

Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, we are recruiting for a Communications Officer who will coordinate our internal, Network-wide, and external communications. Ensuring excellent communications across the staff team, and the effective promotion of its work.
You will be a highly motivated communications specialist with a proven track record of internal and external communications. Key Tasks
- To create content and coordinate internal communications across the Network staff team, ensuring the effective development and implementation of appropriate channels
- To develop and maintain a communications content calendar when and how the Network’s activity will be effectively communicated
- To coordinate communications across the wider Network, including PTCs, Regional Hubs, and partners, including through the production and dissemination of a regular digital newsletter
- To develop, post and oversee content for the Network’s social media channels to promote the effectiveness of the Network’s approach and the impact of PTCs and commissioners
- To establish and maintain appropriate media links to ensure that the reality of poverty, and the impact of commissioners in seeking to alleviate it, is effectively shared
- To support the Network’s parliamentary engagement and its national programmes to ensure that its work is shared impactfully
- To provide an appropriate level of support to PTCs as they develop their social media and engage with the media appropriately
- To undertake other appropriate duties as requested by the Operations Manager
This role involves working from home with some travel.

Every 20 minutes, someone is killed or seriously injured on UK roads. For families affected, the emotional and practical challenges are immense. As a Caseworker, you will provide direct, trauma-informed care to individuals and families suffering from the sudden bereavement or life-altering injury of a loved one. Working mostly remotely, with home visits to service users, you’ll offer vital emotional and practical support—including helping them access therapeutic resources, financial assistance, and guidance through the complexities of medical and legal processes.
This role is flexible, allowing you to structure your own working pattern within weekdays from 8AM to 6PM. While travel is required, you’ll have control over your diary. The work is challenging but immensely rewarding, requiring resilience, empathy, and a dedication to making a real difference in people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing direct support to road victims and their families in the East Midlands region, following Brake’s trauma-informed model of care.
- Managing a caseload of service users, ensuring their emotional, practical, and advocacy needs are met.
- Undertaking comprehensive needs assessments and creating individualised support plans
- Offering emotional and practical support—this can include helping families access therapeutic resources, financial aid, or even facilitating keepsakes to honour the memory of their loved ones
- Liaising with professionals, including police officers, Family Liaison Officers, mental health services, coroners, GPs, and other support organisations.
- Advocating for victims within medical, legal, and social services to ensure their voices are heard.
- Providing support through multiple channels, including in-person, remote calls, video chats, and messaging, depending on service user preferences.
- Completing safeguarding assessments and escalating concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead when needed.
- Maintaining accurate case records in compliance with data protection policies.
- Engaging in external clinical supervision to manage personal resilience and well-being.
- Participating in team meetings, training, and professional development to ensure the highest standard of service delivery.

Youth Engagement Officer
Location: Hybrid. Expected to be in our London office in Victoria at least one day per week. You can be remote every other day or come into the office. Your office days are flexible and can be agreed with your manager, other than for monthly team days where you must be in person. Some nationwide travel expected for Youth Steering Group training days, events and conferences. You will also help the group to participate in FEA decision making, support the design and facilitation of their monthly meetings and training days, help them make progress against their personal development plans. Ensure the Fair Education Youth Summit is a success and remains truly youth-led
Our Youth Steering Group design and run the annual Fair Education Youth Summit. The event is led by young people for young people and brings together young changemakers from across our membership and the wider education and youth sectors to develop their youth leadership skills, collaborate on campaigns, and engage directly with decision makers. You will support the young people to design sessions, secure speakers, embed past feedback and plan the event structure. You will also support with the event logistics, guestlist management, participant communications and collecting attendee feedback.
Support our members to improve their youth engagement practice
Our Youth Engagement Working Group supports FEA members and other sector organsiations to increase and improve their own youth engagement practice. You will support the management of logistics, promote the workshops, and communicate with working group members. The Grants Officer will support the Senior Manager to develop and implement monitoring and reporting
processes across the Foundation’s grant-giving activities. To be successful in the role, you must have

Key Responsibilities
Youth Empowerment Fund (60%):
- Support the monitoring and reporting of the EU funded YEF programme. Including coordinationwithin the IAF and with the Big 6 designated leads.
- Communicating with and activating networks of national organizations to participate in the YEF,including sharing opportunities to take part in Big 6 advocacy activities and applying for youthled solutions open-call Local Solutions grants.
- Issuing of grants to successful national organizations and monitoring and evaluation, including regular reporting on outcomes and impact of national projects to the YEF project team.
- Sharing success stories from the YEF to support the Big 6 communication, storytelling and creative reporting efforts.
Other Grant based support (40%):
- Oversee grant-giving financial processes, creating and issuing of grant payments.
- Support the Senior Operations Manager with the reporting of grant activities for Senior Management and various stakeholders.
- Support the ongoing development of other Foundation grant reporting efforts as required.
- Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required for the successful delivery of the Foundation’s business objectives.

Role description
As our director of digital and information security, you will lead our digital risk and resilience team and programme in order to help build resistance and resilience among the people and movements challenging unaccountable power.
Your focus in this senior role at this crucial time will be on leadership, strategy, growth, and culture, with specific responsibility for our digital risk and resilience programme, internal information security, and tech transformation. Your responsibilities will include:
Lead our digital risk and resilience programme
- Manage the design and delivery of our digital and information security support, including:
- Coordinate the digital security mentoring, accompaniment, and capacity sharing we deliver to at-risk activists and low-resource civil society organisations referred through our rapid response mechanism.
- Oversee the professional information security consultancy and advisory services we provide to high-profile nonprofit and foundation clients.
- Develop our holistic security approach and ensure the smooth delivery of holistic security projects as part of our cross-programme leadership group.
- Lead a team of digital and information security professionals and technologists, including:
- Build and maintain an effective team, and recruit, onboard, and mentor new consultants as required to meet increased demand or to fill gaps.

- Continuously improve the digital hygiene of our team members and the security of our devices, accounts, communications, and website by introducing additional general measures, including device management and regular digital security training.
- Coordinate our response to any data breach or security incident involving our information assets, devices, accounts, communications, or website.
Drive tech transformation in our organisation
- Act as a catalyst for change and drive tech transformation as a strategic enabler of our growth and scale.
- Map current systems and workflows to identify gaps, reduce complexity, and deliver improvements that strengthen security and ease staff burden.

Database Usage and Reporting
- Support our Salesforce Lead in creating reports and dashboards, ensuring all data is relevant, accurate and secure.
