Welsh Language Coordinator

We have an exciting opportunity for a Welsh language Coordinator to support early years, childcare and play work practitioners with Welsh language skills.  

Position: Welsh Language Coordinator

Location: Home Based, Travel will be required to undertake this role.

Hours: Part-time, 22.5 hours per week

Salary: £27,500 - £29,000 pro rata (dependent upon experience)

Contract: Fixed term until 31st March 2027, extension possible subject to funding

The Role

As Welsh Language Coordinator you will support early years, childcare and play work practitioners with Welsh language skills. Targets are agreed annually between the Welsh Government and charity partners. You will co-ordinate the charity’s Welsh language project, encourage Members to embark onto the online self-learning course, and provide ongoing support to practitioners on increasing their use of the Welsh language.

Main duties include supporting the wider organisation and our UK and international customers through:

• To establish and manage robust procedures and systems to support the co- ordination, delivery and monitoring of the Welsh Language project
• Identify settings and recruitment of practitioners for the delivery of training courses
• Promote the development of Welsh language skills by providing information on the online self-learning course, encouraging practitioners to sign up for the training
• Provide support to practitioners to ensure learning from the training is implemented in the workplace
• Development of resources to ensure training influences practice
• Delivery of live interaction sessions with practitioners and other partners
• Collection of data, monitoring and tracking the progress of participants
• Provide regular written reports identifying progress against targets
• Systematically gather and record sector intelligence and research
• Carry out visits within member settings in North Wales to identify settings which may want to transition to Bilingual or Welsh medium status.

About You

To be successful in the role you will need the following skills and experience:

• Effective communication skills - fluent in both English and Welsh
• Knowledge of the benefits and value of the Welsh language in the early years sector
• Experience of using a range of IT applications including Microsoft Office/ Excel
• Excellent administrative skills with attention to detail
• Able to build relationships easily and communicate at all levels, including the ability to use language and other communication skills that very young children can understand and relate to
• Enthusiasm for quality early years, childcare and play work opportunities
• Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise a busy workload
• An enthusiastic, self motivated, organised, team worker and networker
• Ability to work independently and use their own initiative
• Ability to organise and prioritise work with a minimum of supervision

In order to fulfil this role you must have the use of your own transport and the ability to travel as needed.

About the role

This is a varied role where you will take the lead on coordinating, developing and promoting Deaf Unity’s training provision. Our training includes BSL courses, e-learning, and bespoke training for organisations.

You will manage the day-to-day delivery of training while also focusing on growth—building relationships, increasing bookings and expanding our e-learning offer to reach new audiences.

This is a key role in a small, growing charity, where income generated from training directly supports deaf school leavers, jobseekers and professionals. The work you do will have a clear and positive impact.

This role would suit an existing freelancer with experience in the BSL and/or training sector.

What you’ll be doing

Training coordination and delivery

• Managing enquiries from individuals and organisations and converting these into bookings
• Coordinating the delivery of BSL courses, training sessions and bespoke programmes
• Booking trainers, teachers and students, including exam bookings where required
• Acting as the main point of contact for learners, clients and freelance tutors
• Ensuring training is delivered smoothly and to a high standard
• Monitoring quality through feedback and evaluation

Growth and development

• Promoting Deaf Unity’s training offer and increasing sales across all courses
• Building relationships with organisations to secure bespoke training opportunities
• Expanding and developing our e-learning offer to reach wider audiences
• Designing and standardising training materials to improve quality and consistency
• Identifying new opportunities, audiences and partnerships
• Encouraging repeat business and long-term client relationships

Administration and systems

• Managing bookings, records and communication to ensure smooth delivery
• Handling quotes, invoicing and payment processes
• Maintaining tutor records and ensuring compliance requirements are met

Collaboration and improvement

• Working closely with the Services Coordinator to cross-promote training and service
• Monitoring income and contributing to sustainable pricing
• Continuously improving training based on feedback

About you

We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive and confident building relationships. You will be comfortable balancing delivery with growth and working independently.

You will:

• Have experience developing or coordinating training
• Be confident in outreach, sales and building partnerships
• Have strong organisational and administrative skills
• Be able to manage multiple priorities and take initiative
• Share our commitment to accessibility, inclusion and deaf empowerment

Knowledge of the deaf community and training or BSL provision is highly valued.

Essential:

• Strong organisational and multitasking skills with attention to detail
• Experience in business outreach and building partnerships
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently with strong self-motivation
• Proven experience promoting services and meeting targets
• Willingness to learn BSL if not already qualified (training provided)

Desirable:

• BSL Level 2 or above
• Experience delivering training or lesson planning
• Knowledge of the deaf community and accessibility best practice
• Experience using CRM systems and administrative tools
• Experience with Canva or e-learning platforms

About the role

The Finance & Business Planning Analyst sits at the centre of the Effective Organisation function, providing the financial & operational intelligence that helps us understand how the organisation operates today and where improvements can make the greatest difference.
You’ll analyse performance data, cost drivers and resource use to help the team identify opportunities to simplify processes, strengthen consistency and support sustainable, evidence-based change. Your insight will help leaders understand options, trade-offs and long-term implications, and ensure recommendations are always financially grounded, responsible and aligned to the Society’s wider priorities.

Working closely with colleagues in Finance, business management, the OE taskforce and People, you’ll help us build a clear, coherent understanding of how we work, so we can design structures, processes and systems that are efficient, effective and future-ready.

What you’ll do

- Provide expert financial & business analysis to underpin organisational effectiveness work, including performance review, business planning and process evaluation.
- Work with the Organisational Effectiveness team to interpret operational data, understand cost drivers and assess organisational capacity and efficiency.
- Develop clear, accessible reporting that translates complex financial information into meaningful insights for leaders and colleagues.
- Build strong relationships across the Society to understand priorities, challenges and opportunities, using this knowledge to develop financial models and scenario analyses.
- Use financial data to identify efficiencies, inform decision-making and highlight opportunities for value for money.
- Produce high-quality, governed financial analysis that is accurate, timely and aligned to organisational priorities.
- Analyse workflows, resource use and financial impact to support efficiency reviews and future ways-of-working proposals.
- Provide modelling and analytical support for Effective Organisation and wider change initiatives.

About you

You’ll bring financial expertise, an analytical mindset and the confidence to translate complex information into clear, compelling insight that strengthens decision-making.
You’ll have:

- CCAB qualification or part-qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) or equivalent experience.
- Experience analysing complex financial data and developing financial models and forecasts.
- Excellent communication skills, able to present financial insight for diverse audiences.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Ability to work across teams and hierarchies.
- Understanding of the external financial environment, ideally within the third sector.
- Proactive problem-solving, critical thinking and comfort working in changing environments.
- Commitment to inclusion, collaboration, continuous improvement and personal development.
- Business degree or MBA, or equivalent qualification / experience in business administration would be desirable.
