Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. In some services, this will include providing physical, domestic, emotional and social care. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices.

The shift pattern for this role is on a rolling rota which includes some weekend and bank holiday working.

The Team Leader is responsible for the operational management of our specialist customer focused support services across the service. Working in partnership with stakeholders, external agencies and our Commissioning Team, you lead your Team to offer high quality support to customers who experience severe mental health diagnosis to maintain their tenancies and empower people to live their best lives and move to independence. Responsible for Safeguarding our Customers, you will promote sector best practice and legislative compliance to keep our customers safe within their environment.

The role provides direct line management, leadership, coaching and support to Support Workers, Specialist Support Workers and Night Support Workers, ensuring compliance with current legislation, contractual requirements financial regulations and Look Ahead Policy and Procedures.

This role deputises for the Deputy Contract Manager when required.

This shift pattern for this role is Monday - Friday, 9.00 - 17.00

About us

The Asylum Reform Initiative (ARI) is an alliance of nine leading national organisations collaborating to secure deep change towards a fair, compassionate and well-managed UK approach to refugees. Central to its strategy has been incubating, launching and backing the broader, public-facing Together With Refugees campaign coalition, now with over 600 national and local member groups from across the refugee sector and beyond. The ARI team provides a dynamic hub that supports Together With Refugees, coordinating the development and delivery of the coalition’s campaign strategy.

About the role

This is a new role. Working closely with the rest of the ARI team, One Strong Voice, and the newly formed Together With Refugees Steering Group, it will play a key part in shaping and delivering the ambitious next phase of the Together With Refugees strategy. The Deputy Director will lead on movement building, strengthening the coalition, and developing the reach, activation levels and effectiveness of the coalition’s grassroots campaign organising to secure changes in policy and practice. At the heart of this is the engagement and leadership of activists with lived experience as refugees, and of member groups that are led by and for refugees – so advancing the goal of a transition to leadership by people with lived experience across the coalition. Key to this work will be building the capacity, effectiveness and impact of the One Strong Voice network to support lived experience campaigners, organisations and leaders at all levels. The Deputy Director will also contribute to wider leadership of the team’s work including fundraising, support for – and accountability to – coalition leadership structures, and effective delivery of the team’s work programme.

About you

The Deputy Director will be a natural collaborator and relationship builder, able to work with diplomacy to drive forward our ambitious strategic aims. You will need ambition, energy and an ability to work at both strategic and more detailed levels. This could be the right opportunity for a range of potential candidates. Lead Worker x 3 (Mental Health) - Vulnerable Adults Service (VAS)

The Vulnerable Adults service (VAS) consists of two branches - Lead Worker and Supported Accommodation. These sister services work in close partnership to provide consistent, flexible support across Birmingham 365 days a year from 9AM-9PM.

We have an opportunity for an approachable and communicative individual to work with clients in a holistic person-centred way to build independence, community networks and improve quality of life. You will work with people experiencing a variety of mental health conditions, including individuals with dual diagnosis, complex needs and challenging behaviour and will ensure that they feel supported, as the embark on their journey to improve their wellbeing and build interdependence. It takes a village to help us grow, so you will be there to ensure that they engage in their community and build social networks. You will encourage them to constantly improve their physical and mental wellbeing, by attending relevant appointments and ensure access to health services. It is more than that too, it is also about helping them with finances, reducing debt, and understanding the importance of budgeting, as well as finding new skills through employment or education. You will work closely with each individual, reviewing personalised support plans and maintaining relevant assessment documentation, identifying any new barriers or changes in their circumstances that may have an impact on the achievement of their goals. 

With experience of working in the mental health field, you will demonstrate a good understanding of the obstacles that can be faced and how to overcome them to reach certain goals. You will be able to empathise with the daily struggles that people face and will have a commitment to user involvement and empowerment. As an ambassador for Birmingham Mind, you will share our values and ethos, as you deliver each support plan and remain focused on the end result.

M&E Compliance Manager

About the Role
This pivotal role will manage, and coordinate inspections and remedial works related to gas, electrical safety, water hygiene, asbestos, fire safety, and lifts. You’ll lead a small team and work closely with delivery partners, ensuring that all compliance activities are effectively scheduled, completed, and auditable in line with legislation and sector best practice.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering planned compliance work programmes and overseeing contractor performance.
• Leading statutory inspections and managing compliance records via property databases.
• Providing assurance that IDS meets the standards set by the Regulatory Framework for Social Housing and other regulatory bodies.
• Managing and developing a small team of Compliance Officers.
• Promoting a strong culture of safety, transparency, and continuous improvement.

About You
You’ll bring a strong background in property compliance, a working knowledge of building safety legislation, and the leadership skills to drive performance and improvement.

You will have:

• Proven experience in managing statutory M&E compliance in a housing or property context
• A relevant technical or compliance qualification (e.g. NEBOSH, IWFM, HNC/HND in Building Services)
• Strong knowledge of H&S legislation, the Building Safety Act 2022, and CDM regulations
• Demonstrable success managing contractors and compliance systems
• Excellent leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong analytical and reporting capability using system-based compliance data
• A values-led approach and the ability to thrive under pressure

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• An extensive proven track record of utilising strong interpersonal and relational skills to lead a successful research team that supports the development, implementation and evaluation of high impact research initiatives, developing and training staff, and managing performance where required
