About The Role
As a Dementia Adviser, you will have the rewarding opportunity to provide support, information, and guidance to people with dementia and their carers; helping to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives. This Dementia Adviser role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to people affected by dementia in Belfast. The role will include information programmes (CrISP) and peer support groups for people with dementia carers, and dementia support.
Your role as a Dementia Adviser will include:

- Planning, administration and delivery of an information programme for carers in the Belfast area and group facilitation of number of peer support groups for people with dementia and carers (this will include a monthly evening carer support group, and evening information programmes every 2-3 months, subject to need and contract requirements)
- Improving people’s sense of well-being, enabling them to have more control over their lives
- Assisting with the identification of needs, providing information and access to relevant services
- Supporting people affected by dementia, families and carers to access vital services, and processing referrals into the local services
- Promoting local and national services and building relationships with a range of health and social care professionals

The Dementia Adviser will be the role manager for a team of volunteers who support the local services. The successful candidate will also be required to provide support as required with other services throughout Northern Ireland and may provide support within the dementia support service as required. The role is funded by the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.
Please note that local team meetings currently take place on Wednesday.

We are looking for someone with:

- Experience of planning, delivery and evaluation of group services
- Confident presentation skills, both in-person and online
- Understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers would be an advantage but if you have had experience supporting with other diagnosis or support requirements this would be taken into consideration.
- Able to network effectively and collaborating with other professionals, both internally and externally, to achieve a positive outcomes for people.
- Ability and interest in supporting people to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being, and help them take more control of their lives.
- Experience of volunteer management, including volunteer recruitment and support, who will support with delivery of the local services
- Good IT skills, experience working with databases and virtual meeting software (Teams / Zoom).
- Excellent organisational skills as the role has administration responsibilities.
- The ability to travel across local area independently when required.

The successful candidate will work within the Belfast trust area. The role is community-based, meaning that the staff member will work from home or within the community as the role requires. The successful candidate will be eligible to claim mileage from the boundary of the trust area and travel within the trust area. If the successful candidate lives within the Belfast trust area, they will be eligible to claim travel within the trust area relating to the role. If the successful candidate lives outside the Belfast trust area, they will be eligible to claim travel within the trust area relating to the role only when they reach the trust boundary.

Responsibilities
 
As the Director of Children's Care and Wellbeing, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic objectives for children's health and care services. You will ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Ofsted regulations, and CQC standards. Your role will involve line managing registered managers and the Head of Service for seven registered children's homes, as well as providing support to the Head of the Health Agency and lead nurse. You will implement systems and processes to sustain high standards of care, nursing, wellbeing and therapy, ensuring robust child protection processes and management systems. You will support the CEO and wider Directorate by planning, developing, and managing the children's health and care service to meet the holistic needs of the young people attending the School. As an active member of the Executive and leadership teams, you will provide expert leadership across their Health Agency, encouraging innovation, continuous improvement, and best practice to develop the service as a centre of excellence. You will ensure children and young people are safeguarded through robust child protection processes and management systems.
 
Skills & Abilities
 
To excel in this role, you must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a multi-disciplinary team. Strong strategic planning, organization, and change management skills are essential, along with excellent financial management skills and business planning abilities. Your leadership style should be approachable, fair, and decisive, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
 
You should have experience as a Registered Manager or Responsible Individual, with in-depth knowledge of Ofsted Residential Children’s Home guidance. Experience of leading an Ofsted inspection is also crucial for this role.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Advocate to join our team covering Sunderland. Your role will require you to travel to locations such as clients’ homes, hospitals, care homes and within community settings across the area to meet with clients and professionals. You will be home based for administration; therefore, access to your own transportation and a suitable home internet connection is essential.

Casework & Training Lead Officer

Amicus provides representation for those facing the death penalty in the US.  We believe capital punishment is imposed disproportionately on the most vulnerable in society, violating their right to due process and to equal justice before the law.  Our aims are to provide better access to justice and to raise awareness of potential abuses of defendants' rights.

We are not primarily a campaigning organisation; rather, we believe we can make the greatest difference through frontline work, including via our extensive network of casework teams working on a variety of projects.

We’re seeking a Lead Officer to play a central role in the busy Amicus team, with the position’s focus being on casework and on training.  The role offers a great deal of variety: coordinating our busy casework programme of projects, including supporting caseworkers and teams; and leading in the delivery of training and educational events, especially those aimed at our casework teams.

You will be part of a small team, which means we all pitch in to help each other when necessary. Workload will be demanding at times, an ability to work across multiple tasks and to prioritise will be essential.  Given the critical and highly sensitive nature of our work, attention to detail, meeting deadlines and quality of work all are a high priority.  You will be interacting with law firms and volunteers all around the world, making communication skills essential for the role.

This is a hybrid role; there will be a requirement to be in our central London office, generally Thursday and Fridays, as well as for casework briefings at law firms as required within the working day, alongside some remote working. Office hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm with an hour lunch break. We run two major training events each year that would require weekend working. Key Responsibilities

Support of busy casework programme:

• Working closely with the Casework & Training Senior Manager, other staff and volunteers
• Coordinating with US defence teams, and with the academics involved in many of our projects

We are now seeking to appoint a Head of Policy Engagement to lead our engagement with policymakers and senior sectoral stakeholders under those four community-led missions. Using your deep understanding of the political and social environment in which our grantholders operate, you will explore the context for new funding initiatives, including potential partnerships, ensuring that we are making the greatest impact possible.

You will already have well established relationships with Executive Departments, other funders and the voluntary and community sector and you will use this to share learning and insight from our funding, lead consultations and identify opportunities for future collaboration. You will convene both grantholder and stakeholder networks to inform our analysis and ensure that community voice is at the heart of our decision-making.

You will be part of a policy and practice network across the Fund, working collaboratively with colleagues across the UK to develop One-Fund approaches to our missions.

We’re looking for someone who is values-driven, passionate about the Fund’s purpose and deeply committed to equity, diversity and inclusion. You will have a strong track record of influencing at a senior level and be able to articulate strategic ambitions clearly and effectively. You will also have a nuanced understanding of the role of a non-Departmental Public Body in the policy landscape and experience of working collaboratively across organisational boundaries. As a member of the Northern Ireland Senior Management team, you will provide inspiring leadership and strategic direction to the wider team.

Our members are central to our past and our future. Formed by carers of people living with a diagnosis of schizophrenia in 1972, our first members laid the foundations for the Charity that exists today, which now helps thousands of people severely affected by mental illness.

Our many thousands of campaigners, supporters and donors, along with our members, give Rethink Mental Illness its mandate. Members are an important source of volunteers for our governance and peer support groups. They help shape the direction of our work through our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the work of the Board of Trustees and other committees. About the role:

This role is based at Lancaster Police Station. This role involves regular travel and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement.

As an IDVA working on Operation Provide you will:

• Work with the Police safeguarding team to identify high risk victims of domestic abuse.
• Check internal systems to check if victims are known or open to internal services and liaise with same.
• Conduct joint visits with the police to victims who are at serious risk of harm to provide independent information about their rights and options to enable them to keep safe from harm.
• Assess their needs and develop a bespoke safety and support plan
• Provide information and advocacy around the criminal justice process
• Liaise with internal and external agencies in order to keep the victim safe from harm and address their needs.

You will need:

• IDVA accreditation and/or have considerable relevant experience in supporting victims of domestic abuse
• a comprehensive understanding of domestic abuse & the impact on victims & families
• knowledge of risk assessment, safety planning & risk management
• an understanding of Safeguarding issues & the legal responsibilities surrounding these
• theoretical, practical & procedural knowledge of civil & criminal justice remedies
• experience of partnership working
• good organisational skills, able to prioritise effectively
• strong crisis management skills, able to deal with difficult situations.
• Good communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal
• IT skills, able to use Microsoft Office & Case Management systems

About the Project – Door of Hope (East London)

The Door of Hope Project provides support to women who sell sex in Tower Hamlets.  This includes journeying alongside women, whilst providing advocacy, information, emotional and practical support.  The project also has a strong team of around 15 volunteers, who deliver street outreach to women in Tower Hamlets on a Thursday morning and Friday night. 

About the Role

Beyond the Streets is a UK charity with over 20 years’ experience of partnering with women in the sex industry, to see them safe from coercion, violence and abuse. We deliver trauma-informed, person-centred support, provide training, and create resources and reports informed by research, lived experience, and practitioner experience.

Our ‘Direct Work’ is central to the organisation, and we are looking to recruit a new Women’s Support Worker.

Taking a woman-centred approach, your role is to provide holistic support for women with complex needs who want support, or to exit the sex industry. We are looking for someone with energy, motivation and experience of working with vulnerable adults; someone who a highly developed sense of self-awareness who can work in a gender and trauma informed way.

This role will be part of a small team of support workers, and a service manager, who deliver an in-person support service, with women who sell sex on-street in East London. You will have frontline experience of working with individuals who experience multiple disadvantage. This might be in the VAWG sector, domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health or counselling or direct experience of women in the sex industry. You will have a good understanding of working with vulnerable people and be aware of the need for Safeguarding.

You will be a champion of the cause, have a passion for supporting women who face multiple disadvantages and be familiar with the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) sector.

Dose of Nature

Dose of Nature is a mental health charity whose objective is to improve the mental health and wellbeing of individuals through increased engagement with the natural world. Our work is rooted in a wealth of scientific evidence that demonstrates the physiological and psychological benefits of spending time in nature.  We deliver ‘nature prescriptions’ to people referred by their GP with a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction. Our Dose of Nature Prescription Programme is overseen by psychologists and is a genuine alternative to both medication and more traditional psychological interventions. Key Responsibilities

Hospitality & Wellbeing Support:

• Greet all guests, acting as the first point of contact between the team and external stakeholders visiting 1 Wharf Cottage, namely our clients, volunteers and partners.
• Prepare and serve teas, coffees, and refreshments to clients, volunteers and visitors, fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
•  Assist the operations and psychology team with daily administrative tasks, including managing scheduling meetings and client assessments / reviews.
• Assist in the set-up and facilitation of nature-based mental health group activities, providing support to the group leaders and facilitators (where required).
•  Support the team in ensuring a comfortable and supportive workspace.

Event Coordination: 

• Assist in coordinating and executing group sessions, meetings, events and wellness workshops as required.Support logistics, venue setup, and participant coordination for monthly, quarterly and annual events.
• Provide on-the-ground assistance during events, activities and group sessions.
• Oversee the purchase of supplies, including food and drinks, for our monthly volunteer evening events.
• Provide evening and / or weekend support at our bi-annual social events for our client base, volunteers, and donors (dates are always arranged well in advance). 

Operational & Administrative Support:

• Provide general support for the day-to-day operations of the office, ensuring a productive, efficient and well-functioning working environment. Assist the Operations team in scheduling and coordinating client assessment and review appointments, workshops, and mental health activities in nature.
• Act as a point of contact for staff and volunteers, addressing logistical and office needs.
• Manage office supplies, ensuring restocking and organisation.
• Liaise with vendors and maintenance services as needed.
• Provide other general administrative support to the psychology and operations team, including making online orders, liaising with printers, and preparing resources for training events.
