Academy Team Leader - National Youth Agency

The National Youth Agency is looking for a new Team Leader to join our Academy Team.
 
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-time - 37 hours per week
Salary: £40,000 per annum
Remote: This role is homebased with occasional travel for staff residentials and other events.

As the national body for youth work, the NYA has a dual function. We are the professional statutory and regulatory body (PSRB) responsible for qualifications, quality standards, and safeguarding for youth work and services in England. In line with our charity mission and aims, we also champion youth work through research, advocacy, campaigns, and programmes.
 
We work in partnership and believe in collaborative leadership, listening to youth workers and the youth work sector so that we can understand their needs and respond to the challenges they face. About the Role
 
This role is situated within the NYA Academy with a focus on providing the very best youth work learning and development experiences across our NYA activities and programs for clients and young people. This role line manages and coordinates a team of Academy Tutors, supporting the delivery of training and developmental support for the NYA Academy. You will also hold cohort(s) of learners and be responsible for providing a positive learning experience.  
 
The role requires a highly experienced youth work practitioner and line manager that is competent and confident in a leadership role; able to manage a passionate and experienced team of youth work specialists to provide a supportive space for reflective practice and professional growth whilst maintaining performance across NYA Academy contracts. 
 
With a focus on training and development, this role requires experience of understanding the needs of learners, how to create engaging and relevant content and how to deliver high quality experiences for learners and other customers. 
 
The post will require significant networking and engagement across the youth sector to ensure the NYA’s work is rooted in the needs of our sector. 
 
Key responsibilities for this role will include:

• Manage and motivate a team of youth work specialists, providing line management and opportunities for reflective practice.  
• Working with the Deputy Academy Principal to manage workflow and ensure deliverables are meeting required timescales. 
• Work with the Deputy Academy Principal to build sector capacity to deliver quality youth work practice qualifications and CPD. 
• Tutor and assess cohort(s) of learners.  
• Work with the wider delivery team to develop and deliver training and development programmes to NYA staff and clients. 
• Provide quality assurance for training and qualifications delivered across the NYA, working collaboratively with Lead IQAs.  
• Ensure the NYA follows best safeguarding best practice. 
• Ensure all operational activity and youth work content is to the highest quality, representing the position of NYA as the National Body for Youth Work in England. 
• Any other duties that may reasonably be required of the role.

We’re looking for a Finance Officer to join our close-knit finance team. You will work closely with the Financial Controller on the charity’s accounting, financial reporting and budgeting processes. The Role

Reporting to Director of Finance and Operations, the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis plays a critical leadership role in shaping IIED’s financial strategy and enabling data-informed decision-making. Continue to grow the active network through researching and motivating dormant and lapsed alumni to reconnect with the Trust.

• Research untapped prospects

Research the database with a view to identifying dormant and untapped opportunities, especially regarding

high-net-worth individuals and legacies. Ensure fundraising approaches are well-targeted and informed in order to maximise the chances of success. This will expand to include non-alumni sources, including institutional sources such as foundations and other trusts.

• Ensure long-term donor connection

Communicate with all donors to demonstrate the impact they can make by showcasing the current and long-term outcome of programs. Deliver a diverse selection of communications to engage different audiences, with a clear plan for all members of the network. Ensure donors are connected to the Trust, value the Trust's activities and actively help fund opportunities.

• Reporting to the Trustees

Create an annual donor impact report to the Trustees, and other stakeholders such as alumni, that delineates donor statistics, reviews communications and events that have taken place during the past year and identifies potential prospects and events for developing in the coming year. Also provide a lower-level oral report of fundraising activities and communications to the Trustees at their quarterly meetings.

• Deliver income growth target

Acquire enough new donations to meet agreed annual income growth targets set by the Trustees.

Responsibilities

• Work with course designers to develop new, and maintain existing, elearning and media content.
• Translate storyboards into interactive learning content, creating activities, graphics, animations, audio and videos, using tools such as Articulate (Storyline and Rise), Canva, H5P, Murf and Adobe.
• Ensure learning meets development guidelines, and is accessible, functional and engaging.
• Integrate learning content to create courses on our learning management system (Moodle).
• Test learning content, including using screen readers and other accessibility software.
• Help to maintain the guidelines for course development.
• Support the day-to-day administration of the Sea Cadets learning management environment
• Cultivate strong working relationships across multiple teams (internal and external)
• Stay up to date with latest system upgrades and advise on their potential impact on existing or new courses

Requirements

• eLearning development experience ( e.g. tools such as Articulate Storyline and Rise, or similar)
• Experience in media creation for graphics, sound and video editing.
• Good MS Office skills

We would like someone who is passionate about supporting young people from ages 10 to 18. The person would have experience in leading detached and youth club sessions in the delivery of high-quality and exciting activities which contribute to personal and social development.

We work alongside people to help them escape poverty, build confidence, and find community.

Our principal activity is the prevention of food poverty and food insecurity by offering culturally appropriate food, fresh fruits, and

vegetables as well as dietary and religiously appropriate food which we have continued to run at our five-week sessions to local people for as long as they address the underlying cause.

We also provide a range of wraparound support, including advice services, particularly around employment and immigration through our Back2Work Team, Holiday Clubs for Children, Youth Groups, a Clothing Bank and our Spring Up Women’s group.

Main Purposes of Job and Key Tasks

We are seeking a highly organised and quick-witted Operations Officer to join our dynamic team at Spring Community Hub. The ideal candidate will have experience in operations or project management and excel at managing multiple priorities simultaneously. This role is crucial in supporting the day-to-day operations of the organisation and ensuring smooth workflows across various departments.

In addition to their primary operations duties, the Operations Officer will also play a key role in recruiting and managing volunteers, organising events, and assisting with fundraising activities.
