Job Title: Payroll and Pensions Administrator 

Location: Islington, London, (Around a 10 minute walk from Highbury and Islington station) Hybrid working with 2 days a week in the office and service visits regularly across London, Brighton, Luton, Bedford, Kent, and Liverpool. Once a month, the full People and Culture team have a collaborative office day on a Monday. 

Salary: £27,007.50 

Shift Pattern: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00, with some flexibility around these hours as required.

About the role

Our People and Culture team are hiring a Payroll and Pensions Administrator to join the team to support with ensuring our staff are paid efficiently, accurately, and on time. You will play a pivotal part of the team to support with the preparation and processing of monthly payroll for all, coordinating effective and efficient end-to-end payroll and pensions administration, plus any additional relevant activities. You will utilise the tools and resources available to ensure we meet the needs of all our stakeholders and comply with legal matters. The role will further include:

• Taking ownership of administrative tasks in the payroll and pensions process, being the point of contact for enquiries in this area.
• Supporting the administrative process of payroll and pensions, including with the database/system, ensure that any problems are identified with the relevant departments for effective resolution.
• Ensure Full Payment Submissions (FPS) within tight deadlines and process for all adaptations are carried out in a timely manner.
• Support relevant colleagues to ensure the correct payments, reports, and returns are made to HMRC, pension providers, and other bodies.
• Work in collaboration with functions within the organisation to ensure consistency of information and process.
• Ensure all data and reporting is updated in a timely manner across the relevant databases on a regular basis and fit the needs of the business.

In this role, you will report to the Payroll and Pensions Manager, working alongside the wider People and Culture team which includes the Generalist team, Talent Acquisition team, Workforce Development, and Talent Development team. • Experience in a similar role, taking on similar responsibilities in payroll capacity
• Experience in providing a high level of quality administration and customer support (internal or external customers)
• Knowledge and experience using a payroll systems is desirable
• Good understanding of HMRC requirements, including Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), statutory maternity and paternity pay
• Experience of providing a high level of numerical administration and communications, commensurate to the level of the role
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, competent knowledge in Microsoft, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability and willingness to attend regular visits to our different service locations
• Working knowledge and understanding of payroll, pensions and other relevant laws and external policies commensurate to the level of the role.

About the role

As a key member of the management team, you will also get to play your part in the management of our offices, including attending management team meetings and collaborating with other teams.

About you

You will be an experienced housing solicitor, court advocate, carrying your own caseload as well as managing and supervising others. You will have a minimum of 4 years post qualification legal practice experience, have supervisor status and have substantial knowledge of housing and homelessness law. You are able to carry out research and policy analysis in the areas of housing, homeless and welfare law, produce reports and presentations.

Job Summary

Advance delivers nationally accredited, high quality domestic abuse services across London. Advance's domestic abuse services are community based and include local authority commissioned advocacy services, co-located projects in a range of settings such as housing and children’s social care, and specialist projects for victim/survivors with different intersecting needs including children and young people.

As a Peripatetic Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA), you will provide front line support across Advance’s domestic abuse services, covering vacancies across teams to ensure service delivery remains effective and consistent. You will cover a range of roles all involving advocacy and support of people experiencing domestic abuse; some roles may also involve co-locating with partner agencies, delivering training or undertaking triage and assessment work. Your office location and pattern of work will change depending on your placement however all roles offer the opportunity for some hybrid working.

This role is an excellent opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and experience in a range of settings and would suit someone who is passionate about advocating for victim/survivors of domestic abuse. An excellent understanding of domestic violence and its effects on women and children is essential, alongside some past experience working directly with victim/survivors of domestic abuse.

To be successful as the Peripatetic IDVA you will need the below experience and skills:

You will have an excellent understanding of domestic violence and its effects on women and children and of best practice within the domestic abuse in various areas of need, with particular knowledge of safeguarding and legislation. As an experienced domestic violence advocate who has worked with complex and multiple needs, the post holder will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. Experience of direct work with female survivors of domestic violence, of supporting women with child safeguarding, needs, and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential for this post, as is the need to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision.

The Nuffield Trust is looking for someone capable of leading projects across a range of topics within health and care; someone who will be an energetic, inspiring presence in the team. In this role, you will be responsible for a mix of short- and long-term projects, including in-house research and policy analysis and reactive work. You will have strong quantitative skills, and you may have qualitative research experience too. Expertise in workforce research is desirable but not essential.

The Clinical team at Diabetes UK gathers the diabetes management and prevention insights to help inform the organisation. As a valued member of the team, you will develop and share your knowledge and experience internally and externally to support Diabetes UK’s strategy. Role description:

You will lead a clinical area of diabetes, be an expert resource and maintain a good knowledge in all areas of diabetes care and prevention. You will gather new insights that help to inform Diabetes UK work, information and messaging while supporting other colleagues in developing diabetes knowledge. You will provide expertise within your clinical area on a range of matters including the development of products and resources, improving public understanding of diabetes through local and national media channels, reviewing evidence-based practice, and critically appraising to ensure clinical accuracy. Working with other colleagues, you will deliver wellbeing programmes to young people with type 1 diabetes. You may be required to provide clinical support and advice e.g. administer hypo treatment, advise on carb counting and support attendees who may have special needs.

The ideal candidate:

You will be a registered healthcare professional with clinical experience in diabetes preferably in paediatrics care within the NHS as a dietitian, nurse, or doctor. You will be passionate about using an evidence-based approach to creating resources for people with, and those at risk of, diabetes and healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will have experience of working across multiple teams, and be up to date with current developments, and trends, in diabetes care and prevention. You will be flexible in travelling around the country regularly to deliver wellbeing sessions including overnight stays, during some weekends and school holidays.
