This is a new role at Befriending Networks, as we seek someone who is up for the challenge of fundraising to support the continuation of our work in supporting the network of befriending organisations and ensuring that meaningful social connection is available to all.
The role will work closely with the CEO to deliver a fundraising strategy, which will focus on trusts, grant-givers, and corporate collaborations across the UK.

The key focus of this role
1. Generate income from small grants from trusts and foundations for specific projects and activities over the short to medium term.
2. Assist the CEO in the preparation of strategic grant applications for work across the UK, with an initial focus on England, Scotland and Wales to deliver key priorities of our Strategic Plan over the longer term.
3. Development of potential corporate partnerships and collaborations.

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to get out and about in the local communities, raising awareness of the wide variety of services that we offer to victims of crime across West Mercia.
Key Responsibilities:
- To develop and coordinate a range of engagement and promotion activities aligned to the priorities of the local service.
- To develop and deliver a variety of training packages to relevant community partners promoting the work of Victim Support services.
- To develop and expand awareness of support available, from the local service, people affected by crime with partner agencies and community groups.
- Promote effective communication channels for service improvement and innovation including participation in regular team meetings, sharing local issues, feedback and learning with other colleagues.
- Uphold and promote the values of Victims Support and treat colleagues and service users in a fair and non-discriminatory way.
About You:
It is essential to be able to work without direct supervision, prioritise work and deal with competing and conflicting demands in an organised and effective manner. The post is for 30 hours per week, and a degree of flexibility is necessary. This role will work from home but will have regular travel across the West Mercia.
You will need:
- Experience of presenting to, training, and developing people.
- Experience of partnership working, engaging with organisations and building relationships.
- Experience of gathering, managing and presenting data in reports and presentations.
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively both verbally and in writing with a wide range of people.
- Understanding and knowledge around the management of personal data and compliance with data protection legislation including

What you’ll do
You’ll provide confidential support and information to individuals experiencing domestic abuse or forced marriage, as well as their families, friends, colleagues, and professionals supporting them. Responding by phone, email, web chat, and text, you’ll assess needs and risks, helping them plan for their safety and connecting them to appropriate services and resources. You’ll also record information about the contacts you handle using our digital systems.
What we need
Daytime shifts can be especially busy on the helpline. You’ll need to stay calm and empathetic while working in a fast-paced environment, and be ready to handle difficult and sometimes distressing situations. This role can be challenging, but it is also hugely rewarding if you bring the right skills and resilience.
We need people who:
- Are passionate about supporting those affected by domestic abuse and forced marriage, with a feminist understanding of how gender shapes these issues.
