We are looking for a passionate and proactive fundraiser to work with our challenge event and community supporters, helping them to raise funds for some of the world’s most marginalised children. 

At Children on the Edge, we envision a world where every child thrives, no matter their geography, ethnicity, gender, or caste. Working hand-in-hand with communities in Bangladesh, India, Uganda, Myanmar, and Afghanistan, we support children in some of the toughest situations. 

About the role

This is a new role in the Children on the Edge team, working to maximise fundraising from community fundraisers (in schools, groups, clubs and faith groups), third party fundraisers and challenge event fundraisers. 2026 will be our largest ever team of runners for the London Marathon and London Landmarks. You will help to inspire and steward this fantastic team of 17 runners. A small but mighty team of runners who are raring to go!

About you

To be successful in this role you will have an enthusiasm and understanding of challenge event fundraising, third party fundraisers and community fundraising.

You will have excellent communication skills, and you’re a natural people-person who is happy to be hands on. Each day will vary, from picking up the phone to talk with fundraisers, to running an energetic cheer point for runners, to visiting a primary school to speak about children living on the edge - in all these environments and more you will thrive in making meaningful connections with our fundraisers, of all ages! You will be naturally pro-active and bring a collaborative approach to working with our dedicated small team in Chichester. You will enjoy preparing reports or talks for our community supporters, be results-driven and have the self motivation and drive to deliver against deadlines.

Since the charity’s origins, Caring in Bristol has been powered by the input of hundreds of grass roots volunteers from around Bristol. People give their time and expertise to all our services in different ways, ranging from casual volunteering shifts to long term in-depth consultation about our work in their communities. This role will work across the organisation to build, strengthen, and sustain a strong team of volunteers and community participants to support our strategic priorities. 

The postholder will be responsible for leading on all aspects of our volunteering and community participation programme, including developing and implementing policies and procedures, managing the assigned budget, as well as recruitment, induction, training, support, engagement and retention of volunteers.

Our Volunteers 

We utilise volunteers and community participants across all areas of our work to support and enrich the work we deliver. It is important to understand the different sets of volunteers we work with: 

Winter – over 400 volunteers come together each winter to run our Caring at Christmas day centre and distribute food deliveries across the city. Caring at Christmas has a legacy of over 30 years and relies on a range of volunteers from highly experienced to completely new to the organisation. Additionally, during particularly cold weather, Caring in Bristol volunteers support emergency shelters in the evenings and mornings. 

Food clubs – a small but committed set of volunteers help deliver our Bristol Goods food support programme. We have a fantastic set of regular volunteers at our Hartcliffe and city-centre food clubs with plans for a new location soon. 

Youth services –our accommodation project launched in July 2024, providing four bedrooms for 18-25 year olds each night. Our youth team also run group sessions throughout the week. Volunteers are needed to provide invaluable support to these activities to ensure the young people feel welcome and comfortable. 

Co-Production and Consultation Participants – our committed group of community members are essential to shaping the way we work, taking their housing knowledge out in the wider community. They are often used as a focus group for housing/policy consultations, supported by our Outreach Worker. This work is established in South Bristol, and we are developing a similar group in North Bristol. 

Community Advocates – This is an exciting area of work we wish to develop and grow over the next year; training up community members on Housing Rights and routes for support, empowering them to share this knowledge, signposting those in need of support so to prevent homelessness. 

Fundraising & Office Volunteers – we often have tasks that volunteers can help with which help the “back office” of the charity. This could include helping to organise events, fundraising activities, stuffing mailing envelopes, stocktaking our food store or offering specialist skills /advice. 

Person Specification 

We expect you to meet most of these criteria. However, we don’t expect you to meet every point and welcome applicants with transferable skills and an ability to apply themselves in a new context. 

• Experience of recruitment or marketing opportunities in the charity sector 

• Experience of leading and motivating a team of volunteers 

• Understanding of co-production approaches and a demonstrable commitment to empowering community members

• Demonstrable knowledge of the motivations for volunteering and the different needs or requirements that volunteers may have 

• Clear understanding of the legalities around volunteer management and health & safety 

• Experience of working in partnership with other groups and organisations in innovative ways to achieve social impact. 

• The ability to build rapport quickly and maintain effective working relationships with a range of very different stakeholders.

About the role:

This role is responsible for the development and delivery of our multi-channel media campaign in collaboration with our media agency Zenith, the conception of our creative campaign and management of internal stakeholders to maximise promotional opportunities.

A typical week in this role might involve:

• Overseeing the delivery of project plan tasks across different stakeholders, to make sure everyone is meeting set KPIs and working to deadline
• Managing our relationship with the media agency, monitoring channel performance to make optimisations
• Working with creative agencies to brief and produce assets, using audience insights, that will inspire people to sign up for a Mighty Hike
• Managing expenditure budgets to ensure spend is tracking accurately against different media plans and suppliers
• Using data to report on performance and identify opportunities to drive growth and test new activations
• Leading on meetings with internal and external stakeholders to present the Mighty Hikes and inspire high levels of engagement and support

This role does require weekend work (although not at your desk) as you’ll be out and about cheering on our participants. A full UK driver’s license is preferred and a willingness to drive a van is a bonus. You will be compensated for your weekend work with days in lieu.

We are looking for an experienced marketing manager with a passion for project management, strong account management skills and a creative eye.

About this role

This is an exciting time to join us, as we grow and expand our global programmatic work and team.  

The Head of Education and Community Engagement is a key leadership role, providing strategic and technical direction for SPANA’s education, community engagement and Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) work. • Act as the first point of contact for potential participants, ensuring excellent customer care.

• Manage the operational delivery of the Newly Diagnosed programme working collaboratively with the Newly Diagnosed Volunteer Support Officer and local teams.

• Support the team to develop the reach of the programme so that it is accessible and appealing to a wide range of communities.

• Contribute to regular review and development of the programme content.

• Maintain monitoring, evaluation and reporting, using data and insights from the programme and other teams and directorates.

• Manage the marketing and promotion of the programme to increase its reach.

• Responsible for information asset management and compliance for centrally run newly diagnosed events.

We are seeking a dedicated Philanthropy Officer who will help sustain and grow the organisation’s income. This involves managing timelines for applications and reports, writing high-quality proposals and impact reports (often in collaboration with colleagues in policy, science, communications, and finance), and researching new funding opportunities. 

The role also includes maintaining strong relationships with existing funders by providing timely updates outside of formal reporting, and leading on the drafting of the organisation’s annual report to clearly communicate achievements and impact.

CHEM Trust’s overarching aim is to prevent synthetic chemicals from causing long-term damage to wildlife and people by ensuring that chemicals which cause such harm are substituted with safer alternatives.

Currently, we are primarily funded by trusts and foundations and are very successful, raising significant funds to facilitate the sustained growth of the organisation and our reserves.  We have an ethical funding policy, and it is imperative that we maintain our independence and science-based approach.

Key Duties

• Fundraising activity – preparing compelling and bespoke proposals tailored to donor requirements, ensuring effective stewardship of charitable trust and foundation major gifts within CHEM Trust’s portfolio by building relationships and providing on-time reports and updates.
• Working cross-organisationally, to ensure relevant information is obtained from CHEM Trust’ team members in a timely fashion to report to funders in advance of deadlines.
• Timeline management – keeping an accurate track of the necessary reporting and application deadlines and ensuring these are communicated in good time to relevant team members.
• Developing relationships and networking – including excellent donor stewardship to existing funders and using events, meetings, talks and inspirational writing to help charitable trusts learn about CHEM Trust’s work and understand the difference we are making.
• Recording and maintaining accurate funding data, ensuring records are kept and effectively managed and that CHEM Trust’s fundraising team operates within GDPR.
• Good team working - daily interaction with the fundraising team, wider CHEM Trust team, funding partners and others, plus possible interaction with trustees.
• Leading on the writing of the annual report, tailoring it to be a key document that prospective funders can use to get a succinct overview of CHEM Trust’s vision, goals, and achievements.

The Independent Living Medication Support Service (ILMSS) in Lambeth is a community-based floating support service designed for adults with primary mental health needs and often dual diagnoses.

The service aims to help individuals stay well, avoid hospitalisation, and live independently in the community. The service provides one-to-one support in customer's homes to build awareness, routines, and skills for medication management. Furthermore, it aims to support customers with housing, benefits, and social issues through short-term interventions.

As Service Manager for the Lambeth ILMS service, you will lead a dynamic team delivering floating support to 105 customers and medication support to 35 customers across the borough. Leadership and competence development in direct reports is a key responsibility of the role. Post-holders may also carry client group specialism responsibilities, linking in with other Managers and Head of Services to ensure focused integration of specialisms across the whole organisation.

The working pattern for this role is primarily Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with occasional requirements for weekend and out-of-hours work to meet service needs.
