Communications Officer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications Officer to help raise the charity’s profile across multiple communications channels and build supporter engagement with corporate and individual supporters, and with charity partners.

This is a remote working role.

Position: Communications Officer

About the Role

This role is focused on delivering established communications strategies and plans over a 12-month fixed-term period. There is scope for the Communications Officer to work autonomously and creatively across teams, helping deliver engaging content and campaigns. You will also play an exciting role in rolling out the organisations refreshed brand.

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop and deliver content and copy for digital channels, including social media, email communications and the website.
• Deliver against existing, and develop own, content plans to enhance these channels, expanding reach, and strengthening brand awareness and recognition.
• Create bespoke materials to engage  key corporate partners and engagement communities as part of a wider supporter journey, including bespoke projects.
• Produce and deliver content for events marketing plans across paid, earned, shared, and owned channels in collaboration with internal teams.
• Oversee the community management social channels.
• Work with the Programmes and Impact team to manage the case story gathering process across charity partners, creating resources like blogs, video content and creative assets to educate and inspire.
• Support and coach the wider team to adopt digital solutions across internal and external channels, using data and analytics to make recommendations for improvements, including support for the Leadership Team’s personal communications, providing guidance for the most effective use.
• Support with monitoring, and evaluating communications outputs, using data, analytics and learnings to grow digital channels and supporting audiences.
• Ensure brand guidelines adhered to in all external communications produced by third parties.

About You

With experience working in a similar role, preferably within the charity or property sector, you will also have experience of devising and developing audience focused content ideas across multiple communications channels

• Experience of producing content - including photography and video led creative - with copy for digital platforms including web, content management systems, social and email communications
• Experience of managing and producing story-led content.

About The Role

Our Nightlight Service is proud to provide urgent support, crisis intervention and emotional support to people experiencing a mental health crisis in Hertfordshire as an alternative to statutory pathways.

We provide support to adults across Hertfordshire 7 days a week, 365 days a year through our helpline, crisis centres, crisis cafes and a weekend Crisis House. We aim to provide a safe space for people in crisis to talk and feel supported, be listened to without judgement, access relevant support with problem solving and facilitate access to external services when necessary. As a member of our team you will work closely with service users in crisis by using a person-centred approach as to ensure that each individual is supported with dignity and respect.

The objectives of Hertfordshire Mind Network’s (HMN) Nightlight Mental Health Crisis Services are:

• To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health crisis in Hertfordshire.

The Crisis Team Leader will be a key member of the Crisis Services management team, providing effective operational leadership delivering the Nightlight Café and Helpline services.

Purpose of Post

• Ensuring the delivery and development of quality crisis support services and instilling Hertfordshire Mind Network’s values throughout the provision.
• Provide management support to Café and Helpline Coordinators and support the Crisis Manager in ensuring practice within the service is safe, effective and person centred, as well as supporting the implementation of strategic service plans.
• Provide emotional support, advice, signposting, assessing risk, support planning for clients in mental health crisis often where risks are significant.
• Overseeing and ensuring the delivery of appropriate needs and risk assessments and support planning for clients.
• Liaison with statutory agencies to ensure appropriate intervention is obtained.
• Ensuring staff and volunteers feel supported, safe, trusted and valued and excel in their roles.

The salary band for this role is £32,000-34,000 per annum, dependent on relevant skills and experience.

About the role

The Head of Fundraising and Development role is pivotal within the New Horizon Leadership Team, responsible for driving forward fundraising efforts and managing a small, dedicated team. As Volunteer and Placement Coordinator, you’ll oversee the onboarding of volunteers and Music Therapy student placements, matching individuals to suitable settings, and handling DBS checks and references.

You’ll also contribute to ongoing improvements by sharing feedback and insights from your role to support the development of internal systems and processes.

Accountabilities

This role involves a range of duties that may vary week to week. Key responsibilities include:

• Responding promptly to general enquiries from individuals and organisations via phone and email

• Supporting the scheduling team with new referrals, service contracts, and opportunities, including liaising with Music Therapists and Community Musicians

• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in our CRM system (Salesforce or similar experience is desirable), including logging communications and key information

The purpose of this role is to provide leadership, oversight and curation to the FYT Leadership Team, and to lead the smooth running of the FYT Organisation which supports the wider FYT Movement. 12. Support the active promotion of the FYT training and resource offer.
13. Lead the monitoring and evaluation (impact assessment) of FYT’s work

• The Leadership Team is supported by a contract with Giraffe HR that assists in the day to day running of the organisation, primarily managing the finances of the organisation.
• Engagement in ongoing, regular youth work with marginalised young people is not a requirement of this post, but encouraged. FYT will be flexible where possible in order to facilitate this.
