As PR and Media Officer, you will play a crucial role in raising the profile of Marie Curie through compelling storytelling, high-impact media campaigns, and strategic press engagement. Reporting to the National PR and Media Lead for Research and Policy and working closely with the wider team, your work will directly contribute to influencing public understanding of end of life care, and positioning Marie Curie as the UKs leading end of life charity.   

Your creativity, media know-how, and relationship-building skills will help us deliver standout coverage and meaningful public engagement that drives the charity’s long-term goals.

Main responsibilities:  

• Support the development and delivery of national PR campaigns that promote organisational objectives.  

• Help manage the charity’s national press office/newsroom, proactively and reactively responding to media opportunities.  

• Draft and distribute press releases, statements, briefings, and Q&As to position Marie Curie as a leading voice in end of life care.  

• Build and nurture relationships with journalists across print, online and broadcast media.  

• Work closely with internal teams to source stories and case studies that drive media impact and support strategic KPIs.  

• Identify and prepare media spokespeople and storytellers, ensuring authentic and powerful representation of lived experiences.  

• Monitor emerging issues and support on reputational risk and crisis communications.  

• Take part in the on-call rota, including occasional out-of-hours, weekend and bank holiday working.  

• Track and evaluate media coverage against agreed performance metrics.  

Key Criteria:  

• Previous experience in public relations (in-house or agency), particularly in a press office/newsroom setting or as a journalist. 

• A confident communicator and skilled writer, with strong attention to detail and sensitivity when handling personal stories.  

• Strong knowledge of the UK media landscape and current affairs, with a proven ability to secure impactful coverage.  

• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.

About The Role

We’re looking for a creative, proactive and digitally savvy Social Media and Content Assistant to join our Communications team. You’ll support the planning, creation and delivery of engaging content across our social media channels, with a particular focus on Instagram and TikTok.

Women in Prison is a national, women-led, feminist organisation.  We deliver front line support to women harmed by the criminal justice system, through our work in prisons, in the community and ‘through the prison gate’ as they resettle back into their communities. At Lewisham Refugee and Migrant Network we’re looking for someone to join us as our Senior Legal Aid Advisor. We will always stand by people standing up to an unjust immigration system. We provide a safe haven for people to rebuild their lives and our Senior Legal Aid Advisor role is a key part of that. Sitting in the immigration team, you will work on our Legal Aid contract alongside a team of Immigration Advisors working on a mix of grant funded projects for migrants unable to afford private representation. You will work within a supportive environment, reporting to our Immigration Manager, and be able to develop your areas of expertise. We’re a small and colaborative team so you will have the opportunity to work closely with other members of the organisation. 

Main Roles
Manage a full caseload of complex immigration matters funded by legal aid, including
asylum, human rights, and deportation cases.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations (IAAS, SRA, LAA).
Complete funding applications, manage provider submissions, track time, prepare
and submit legal aid bills and ensure compliance with LAA obligations.
Provide ad hoc supervision, mentoring or training to members of the immigration
team working on related immigration matters.

Specific Duties
1.Manage a full caseload of complex immigration matters funded by legal aid,
including asylum, human rights, and deportation cases.
a.Manage a complex caseload across the field of immigration, nationality and
asylum law.
b.Prepare, draft and file appeals to the First-tier and Upper Tribunals and conduct
appeals hearings as required.
c.Own legal aid processes for each case: complete funding applications, provider
submissions, billing, time recording and compliance with funder requirements.
d.Provide expert legal advice and represent clients in hearings; instruct counsel
when necessary and manage counsel budgets.
e.Interview and advise clients regarding immigration and asylum law procedure, and
practice in a sensitive and professional manner.
f.To maintain accurate and detailed case records of clients for the purpose of
continuity of casework, information retrieval and statistical monitoring, using
Advice Pro as appropriate and as required by management.
g.Advocate on behalf of clients by telephone, letter and email with appropriate
agencies.

2. Ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations (IAAS, SRA, LAA).
a.Maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with IAA, IAAS
registration or similar professional body, e.g. SRA
b.Keep up to date at all times with changes in the law by reading and attending
training events relating to asylum and immigration.
c.Adhere to casework procedures as outlined in LRMN’s policies, the IAA, SRA,
IAAS, SQM and AQS.

continuity of casework, information retrieval and statistical monitoring, using

e.Produce reports to meet funder’s and LRMN requirements.
f.Work closely with the Immigration Manager and/or external evaluator in gathering
data and information to produce accurate monitoring and evaluation reports.
g.To assist LRMN in liaising with its funders and to provide statistical information
and updates as required.

3. Complete funding applications, manage provider submissions, track time, prepare and
submit legal aid bills and ensure compliance with LAA obligations.
a.Complete initial funding applications and any subsequent variations or
exceptional funding requests; gather and upload supporting evidence; ensure
eligibility and means assessments are correctly recorded.
b.Submit and monitor claims through the LAA portal (or other relevant portals),
respond to queries or requests for further information, and liaise with LAA
caseworkers or contract managers as required.
c.Draft detailed bills in the required format, check calculation of fees and
disbursements, obtain necessary approvals, and submit within contractual
deadlines.
d.Maintain documentary proof to satisfy LAA audit requirements (attendance

We are currently operating a blended working arrangement, that includes working from our Head Office in Kings Cross for a minimum of 3 days per week, as well as flexible occasional travel to our accommodation services across London. There is also some potential for home working, in agreement with the Head of Property Services.

The weekly working hours are 37.5 hrs, to be completed between 9am-5pm Mon- Fri, with occasional need to work outside of these times in the event of an emergency.

About you:

• You’ll be someone with proven experience managing rent accounts and maximising income across a busy caseload.
• You understand the welfare benefits system and know how to help clients access the right support.
• You have solid knowledge of housing management - from tenancy and health & safety to managing evictions.
• You’re confident dealing with repairs, complaints, and anti-social behaviour in a fair and timely way.
• You take pride in supporting clients to sustain their tenancies and build financial stability.
• You work well with others - building strong relationships with colleagues and external partners to get the best results.

We are looking to recruit a life skills and activities co-ordinator to concentrate on building and expanding relationships with young people living in our supported accommodation as well as families in Westminster who attend sessions in our Family Services department. This is a unique and rewarding role in our Employment & Learning Team that will involve meeting and working with residents in our supported accommodation on a one-to-one basis and in groups, facilitating activities and evaluating and building evidence that these interventions have made a difference. Your work will focus on supporting our residents (aged 16-25) on-site with their Life Skills development. You will also work holistically to support the families who attend sessions in the Family Centre and who attend outings and “away-days”. The role also requires facilitating our study club (aged 13+) and group ESOL sessions (19+).
