At Youth Concern, we create spaces where 13–25 year olds in Aylesbury Vale can feel safe, be real and be themselves. Through our Drop-in Centre, counselling, and homelessness prevention projects, we help young people overcome challenges and build brighter futures.

We’re a 46 year old charity with a strong local reputation, healthy reserves and ambitious plans to open a new Youth Hub. With the introduction of our Beacon CRM system, we’re ready to grow and diversify our income and we’re looking for a proactive fundraiser to help make that happen.

The role

This new role is ideal for a creative, relationship-led fundraiser who enjoys variety. You’ll lead on community fundraising and individual giving, strengthening supporter relationships, growing income, and delivering engaging campaigns and events.

You’ll work closely with our fundraising-experienced CEO, Finance & Communications Manager and volunteers, in a supportive environment where initiative is encouraged and micromanagement isn’t our style.

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver our fundraising strategy across individual giving, community and corporate income.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with supporters and local partners.
• Use and develop our Beacon CRM to manage data and segment audiences.
• Plan and deliver creative multi-channel fundraising campaigns.
• Support community fundraising initiatives and events.
• Produce inspiring fundraising materials with the wider team.

There’s already strong local support, from the MP, local football club and community partners, and plenty of new opportunities to build on.

About you

You are already working in fundraising and could be ready to step up into a broader, more autonomous role. You will bring:

• Experience or understanding of individual giving, community, or corporate fundraising.
• A confident, relationship-led approach and strong communication skills.
• A genuine empathy for young people and the ability to connect with a wide range of people.
• Confidence using CRMs (ideally Beacon) and an understanding of their value in supporter management.
• A proactive, organised approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• A collaborative, can-do attitude and passion for creating opportunities for all young people so they feel safe, seen and supported.

A vital part of this work is our advice services – providing free and accessible debt, benefits, housing and immigration advice to local people. This work has grown over the last few years and we are now looking for an experienced and innovative advice worker, to provide debt advice within the service.

About the role
The purpose of this role is to drive policy development across our policy priority areas. The Policy Officer will lead on specific policy projects, commissioning research, developing policy positions, and producing reports and consultation responses.  

This role will cover a broad range of issues across one of our strategic goals – prevention and diagnosis; access to treatment; and living well with arthritis. Our approach considers the needs of people of all ages who have arthritis.               

The Policy Officer will also contribute to the wider work of the team, working closely with colleagues in the Nations Teams, the Research Directorate and the wider charity, including by representing us on cross-sector policy groups, drafting briefings, and participating in events and conferences.

Job Summary
 
When someone goes missing, Missing People provides help to families, friends and professional carers who wish to publicise their appeal. This can be through the charity’s website resources, appeals and opportunities for publicity in the media.
 
You will support families, friends and professional carers to make appeals when someone has officially been reported as missing. The role will involve communicating in a timely, compassionate and knowledgeable manner with people experiencing the trauma of missing someone and managing families’ initial expectations of the service. You will assess the most appropriate activities to safeguard and reconnect the missing person and be responsible for police liaison and updates. You will assess with families the use of public display publicity which may begin after 3 days and help families to understand what they can do themselves. You will work closely with the Communications team, providing them with accurate and timely information if publicity is the appropriate choice. You will also access and process 'Urgent missing’ requests and work with the Communications team to make the alert happen.
 
You will understand the needs of longer-term families who still want to publicise their missing person, and you will advocate on their behalf to help make sure their voice is heard.
You will work collaboratively with specialists in Family Support, Publicity, Helpline and Fundraising & Communications teams to support the families and missing people we are here to help.
 
Key Accountabilities:
 
Service delivery
• Assess and process incoming requests from, family members, friends and professional carers and agree the most suitable support and publicity actions. Manage requests with high standards of accuracy, risk and criteria management, data management, and confidentiality;
• Risk assess all contacts to ensure any safeguarding issues in relation to the missing person or their family members are dealt with effectively. Participate in safeguarding decision making and implement safeguarding procedures.
• Handle sensitive interactions, deal with crisis intervention situations, assess risk within Missing People policy and consult where appropriate
 
Team Working and external communications
• Ensure families are aware of all the services on offer to them, working collaboratively with other members of the team to provide a smooth transition into Family Support and Publicity
• Work closely with IT, Impact, Family Support, Publicity and helpline teams identifying data issues,
• Communicate updates and signpost into Missing People’s services, initiatives, engagement opportunities, events and activities to family members and other people affected by a disappearance
 
Volunteer supervision and support
• Train volunteers on shift in identified tasks. Provide clear written instructions and demonstrate the task through examples and shadowing.
• Monitor volunteer work on shift to ensure good record keeping, professional communication, appropriate safeguarding and accuracy
 
About you

Key Responsibilities:

• Funding and Partnership Support: Identify and shape funding opportunities, provide up-to-date data to strengthen bids, support the development of theory of change models, co-develop case studies and contribute to financial planning.
• Research, Insight and Opportunity Development: Conduct and commission research into external services, monitor national and local policy developments and funding landscapes and share insights on emerging needs.
• Championing the Nursing and Midwifery Workforce: Lead Cavell’s insight and evidence work, identify and analyse trends and systemic issues, collaborate with colleagues to translate data into compelling narratives and represent Cavell at external meetings.
• Leadership and Collaboration: Act as a senior leader within Cavell, building a strong, supportive working relationship with the Support team, foster cross-team collaboration and offer effective line management and development.

We have a vacancy for a Community Outreach Worker to join our team, supporting refugees and asylum seekers in the community with multiple needs who have mental health as a primary need, through providing advice, information and holistic support.

About the Service

This is an exciting and reasonably new project, ‘Flourish’ – Mental Health for Refugees in Hertfordshire, which is a highly flexible and responsive outreach service developed to meet the needs of refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine & other refugees in Hertfordshire. The aim of the service will be to support refugees in the community with multiple needs who have mental health support as a primary need.

The countywide holistic service also provides emotional wellbeing support for families who are hosting refugees.

‘Complex needs’ are defined by the National Complex Needs Alliance as a combination of health needs and social needs.

Purpose of Post

• The purpose of the Hertfordshire Mind Network Refugee Community Outreach Worker role is to:
• To provide advice, information, onward referral and holistic support to clients with mental ill health.
• Support to build social networks and reduce isolation whilst settling into the Hertfordshire community this includes building a sustainable and empowering peer support network and building confidence and self-esteem.
• To ensure that the safety and wellbeing of the client is monitored and reviewed regularly.
• To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
• Embed a person centred and solution focused approach in all aspects of the role.
• To work in a trauma informed way including awareness of the 6 principles of trauma informed practice, putting the clients emotional and practical needs at the forefront of this work.

The successful candidate will have experience of caseload management, a good understanding of Mental Health conditions and experience of working with vulnerable individuals who are affected by housing difficulties and/or displacement. Understanding and knowledge of the concerns and challenges for refugees and asylum seekers and lived experience would be desirable.
