About the role
We are seeking a Grants Systems and Business Analyst to join our Foundation, providing subject-area expertise to our grantmaking and wider teams. This exciting role leads on our grants system and processes and ensures we are working in the best way to support our grant-making (approx. £35m of grant spend per year).
You will lead on maintaining, designing and developing grant making systems and processes and their relationship to other parts of the organisation. You will work with colleagues to identify where we could improve our use of existing digital systems or introduce new systems and oversee the introduction of new systems as agreed including the development of a new grant management system. A key element of this role is to help others work in the most efficient and effective way.
In addition, the role leads on introducing, developing and overseeing the operation of digital systems to support the operation of PHF’s wider business. The post holder will bring a mix of technical and people skills to lead on continuous improvement, ensuring our systems and workflows fit the needs of the organisation and those we work with, and colleagues are skilled-up to work effectively. This may involve working on the introduction of new software as required and will include working with our IT support company, software suppliers and colleagues who have specific oversight of some systems.

Our ideal candidate will be an experienced digital systems and data expert who can confidently translate technical language to a non-expert client group in order to improve systems and ways of working. You may have exeperience of Blackbaud Grantmaking software or will be confident to pick this up.

The work of the Prospect Research Team drives the fundraising activities of the University, by providing insights to build relationships with new and existing high-value supporters (individuals, corporations and foundations).

This role is home-based, but you will be able to travel regularly across the UK, at least 2-3 times a month and be willing and able to easily attend meetings in London on a regular basis. About Waves
Demos is leading the largest trial of digital democracy in Britain.
Trust in politics and politicians is in crisis. Only 24% of people trust politicians to make decisions in the best interests of the country. Polarisation is increasing. At the same time, people want to be involved in the public policy decisions that affect them.
Waves is a €1 million project trialling new technology in local democracy, launched to bring people together to tackle contentious local issues and strengthen trust in local government. Thousands of local people will have the opportunity to shape local government policy on an issue affecting their area.
New AI-powered technology is intended to make it easier, cheaper and quicker for participants to have their say, identify areas of consensus, discuss difficult issues and work through trade-offs together.
We are working in partnership with two trailblazing councils who are both embracing the opportunity to put the public at the heart of their policy making. The trial will begin in the London Borough of Camden to co-develop an approach to adult social care. The trial will then move on to South Staffordshire District Council as they develop an inclusive engagement process to prepare for their next local plan. The partners will also support a further 25 councils to observe and learn from the process so that they too can use the tools in the future.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced programme manager who can steer Waves from now until it completes in December 2026.
You would be joining the programme at a pivotal time as we move from the ‘set-up’ and ‘co-design’ phases of the first 6-months, to the start of the first of our two trials running sequentially over the next 11 months, before moving to a final ‘impact phase’ of dissemination of our toolkits, technology and learning in the final 6 months.
Programme management of Waves means ensuring that the whole project stays on track – on time and on budget – throughout its delivery. There are 5 partners, a number of suppliers and many moving parts, so it is critical that we find someone who can work across the whole programme, anticipating who needs to do what and by when, and ensuring that the programme is delivered successfully so we can draw learnings from it to share widely across the local government, democracy, and tech sectors.
It is worth bearing in mind that Waves is a ‘test and learn’ trial of a new deliberative democratic process using existing and new technology. Therefore, the team is committed to learning from the project and being comfortable with the uncertainty of not knowing exactly what the outcomes are going to be.
What you'll need to be sucessful

- An interest in, and comfort working with, innovative technologies that utilise AI and collect data, as well as an understanding of the risks and sensitivities surrounding the use of AI, among the public and within the public sector.
- Experience of owning and managing a large-scale budget, conducting calculations when there are changes from the plan, and maintaining clear and robust tracking of expenditure to ensure financial accountability.
- Demonstrable ability to adapt to changing circumstances, solve problems creatively and maintain momentum and energy during challenging situations.
- Highly collaborative, with a commitment to teamwork and inclusivity.

Finance and Operations Manager
RESPONSIBLE FOR
Overseeing Operations at every level of the organisation, with line management responsibility for some of the team, Project and Workstream Coordinators (approximately 5 direct reports) plus some external consultants and contractors.

LOCATION OF THE POST HOLDER
The post holder will be predominantly remote working but will be required to attend the head office and drop-in in Manchester, drop-in spaces in Glasgow and London, and support staff members nationally. The post involves some travel throughout the UK and some work outside of office hours. All equipment required for remote working will be provided and costs for travel will be covered.
ROLE SUMMARY
We are looking for a Finance and Operations Manager to support the CEO in the day-to-day running of our charity. The NUM CEO develops the overall vision of the organisation, while the Operations Manager is responsible to carry out the vision.
To be successful in this role, you should have experience as a manager in a position of public trust, have excellent financial, organisational, and communications skills, as well as being a problem-solver with work experience in high-pressure work environments. The Finance and Operations Manager must be versatile in their understanding of the larger vision and as well as the fine details and tactics needed to achieve NUM's goals.
The successful candidate will work in an agile manner to ensure the charity continues to be proactive and innovative, while also being responsive to the changing landscape within the sector and the international sex worker rights and safety movement. As part of supporting the operations of NUM, the successful candidate will provide resources, information and support to NUM Managers and Coordinators across diverse projects, workstreams and teams, to achieve aspects of the organisation’s mandate of 'ending all forms of violence against sex workers' and eliminating the conditions that lead to poverty and survival sex work.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- 
	At least 3 years' work experience as a Manager, Project or Programme Manager or similar role that requires oversight of a whole system, business, operation or organisation Experience leading remote or hybrid teams is desired. This includes time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, lead team meetings and support members to manage resources, timelines and project budgets, etc.

	At least two years’ experience in grant writing and fund development, as well as in financial management, with a demonstrated ability to co-develop budgets, cashflow forecasts and financial reporting as well as oversee banking activities and work with accountants and Trustees to ensure NUM’s financial health.

	Knowledge of the charity sector, the day-to-day running of a charity, business or similar organisation, and familiarity with the work of National Ugly Mugs and other sex worker-serving and sex worker-led organisations.

	Excellent leadership and delegation skills and experience.

	Ability to support and execute on elements of NUM's policies and strategic plan.

	Experience and training in Safeguarding and the ability to integrate appropriate safeguarding into all aspects of NUM services.

About Quest for Learning
Quest for Learning is an education charity on a mission to close the gap for primary school children in Oxfordshire who are falling behind - often due to complex and compounding disadvantage. Many of the children we support are growing up in poverty, with limited access to books, low parental literacy, and challenging home environments. Some face health inequalities, live in areas affected by crime, or have recently arrived in the UK as refugees or asylum seekers.
We work closely with schools to provide targeted, high-impact literacy and numeracy programmes that give these children the chance to catch up, thrive, and believe in their potential. On average, our small-group tutoring helps pupils make 13 months of progress in just 10 hours - building not only essential skills, but also confidence, motivation, and a renewed sense of possibility.
The impact extends well beyond the classroom. Role Purpose
This is a hands-on and outward-facing role for a confident, capable fundraiser ready to lead Quest for Learning’s income generation efforts. As our sole dedicated fundraiser, you’ll take ownership of securing income across a broad mix of streams - including trusts and foundations, community fundraising, individual giving, and corporate partnerships.
You’ll be out and about representing the charity, building relationships with local businesses, community groups, and supporters, and bringing our mission to life with energy and clarity. - Line manage the Fellowship Manager and Fellowship Officer, supporting their development and performance in delivering team and organisational objectives.
- Work closely with the Fellowship Director and Head of Activate to foster an inclusive, collaborative, and supportive team culture, encouraging innovation, reflective practice and shared learning.
General
- Ensure all Fellowship programme activity complies with organisational policies, safeguarding requirements, GDPR, and data protection standards.
- Contribute to organisational initiatives and cross-team projects, supporting the wider strategic goals of The Churchill Fellowship.
- This role may occasionally require working outside standard hours, to support Fellowship interviews, events, or external engagements.
- Undertake other reasonable duties as required to support the effective running of the Fellowship programme and the organisation.

- Degree level or equivalent transferable skills
Skills & Experience
- Proven leadership and line management experience, ideally in a fellowship scholarship, or education programme.
- Track record of developing individuals and teams, recognising diverse needs, and tailoring support accordingly.
- Strong experience in programme delivery and continuous improvement.
- Good knowledge of challenges and opportunities relating to international travel and learning. Desirable
- Excellent understanding of safeguarding practices with experience embedding policies operationally.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess individual applications, progress, and outcomes to inform improvements. Desirable
- Strong IT skills, including high levels of proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Experience using and interacting with Salesforce or similar CRM systems.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with practical experience embedding these principles in programmes.

Working for The Churchill Fellowship

- Salary - £55,000.00 per annum (5 days per week/36.5 hours)
- Hybrid working policy (4-6 days per month in the office)

Standard working hours are 36.5 hours a week, 9.30am until 5.00pm, Monday to Thursday and from 9.30am until 4.00pm on Friday, including a paid lunch break of one hour.
We have embraced the benefits of working from home and at the same time, we value the contribution of face-to-face contact in building teamwork, collaborating with your colleagues, exchanging ideas and know-how, and for work efficiency. We therefore operate a hybrid working policy, where staff can work from home if they wish, however everyone is required to work in the office for a minimum of 4 to 6 days a month with Tuesdays as the core day for regular whole team meetings and Thursday as an additional core day for Senior Leaders.
