Community Organising
We train thousands of people each year to lead change in their communities, through the craft of Broad-based Community Organising, equipping them and their institutions with the skills to hold powerholders to account. We organise with 500+ member organisations in powerful alliances throughout the UK, and in South London Citizens we organise in ten boroughs with almost 100 member organisations. Our members include schools, universities, faith groups, parents’ groups, health practices, charities, migrant hubs and other civil society organisations.
Purpose
At Citizens UK, our organisers and project staff work within communities to develop leaders, strengthen organisations, campaign for change and organise across difference. This work is rewarding and can be challenging; it requires a personal commitment to inclusion, a willingness to listen and disagree respectfully, and an interest in working in an organisation where our staff, member institutions and leaders will come from a diversity of backgrounds and often hold views that may be very different from our own. Main Responsibilities
The principal responsibility of an Associate Organiser is their own development: learning the craft of Community Organising under the guidance of an experienced Community Organiser. You will work intensively with a small number of member organisations under close supervision, growing your experience, skill and responsibility incrementally. An Associate Organiser is working towards becoming a competent practitioner of the craft of broad-based community organising methodology, and focuses on the building of relational power, the recruitment and retention of dues-paying institutions, the development of leaders, the strengthening of member institutions, leader-led public actions, and the winning of systemic change.
This role is particularly to organise with Be Well Organisations in Greenwich and Bexley. Be Well Organisations may be faith, education, or community institutions, tackling isolation and poor mental health by: 1. Building relationships, 2. Signposting and offering practical support, and 3. Taking action on structural and systemic inequalities and injustices. But you may also work on other campaign priorities and responsibilities as needed across the team.

The role is hugely varied, and involves working across the two boroughs, in different institutions and context, and with a lot of independence.
Working as an Associate Organiser in South London Citizens, your main responsibilities will include:
Build relational power to further the goals of CUK

Actively participate in the development of a comprehensive power analysis appropriate to the desired sphere of influence for each project/assignment

Your new role

- Meet with patients, families, staff, volunteers and supporters to capture their stories and experiences for use across all our channels – this might be through written or video content.

- Monitor the main communications inbox responding to all requests in a timely manner and allocating incoming work across the team.

About the role:

Our Senior Substance Misuse Worker works alongside members of the support team to create a safe and welcoming environment within a psychologically informed environment. Taking a lead role in delivering training/ advising staff on substance misuse issues, liaison with substance misuse agencies, facilitating multidisciplinary case conferences and negotiating access to detox and treatment services. What you’ll do
Since 2019, we have been building a cross-cutting thematic programme using our investor accountability, corporate engagement and public policy toolkit to build a movement to harness the power of the investment system to address commercial determinants of health.
In 2022, we launched Long-Term Investors in People’s Health (LIPH), a cross-cutting programme of work leveraging our toolkit of investor accountability, corporate engagement and policy advocacy. It is one of ShareAction’s largest programmes. Since the launch of LIPH, we have run high-profile campaigns to get large food manufacturers and retailers to improve their health disclosures and sell healthier products via our Healthy Markets Initiative (HMI); recently set up a Clean Air Initiative (CAI); mobilised investors to engage with corporates, the UK government, and standard-setting bodies on issues such as clean air and sick leave policies; and partnered with academics to grow the evidence base on the financial materiality of health. We have ambitious plans to take this work forward and are looking for a new Head of the team to help us do so.
As Head of Health, you will:
- Oversee and contribute to the successful implementation of ShareAction’s strategy to tackle poor health via its LIPH programme, a cross-cutting programme of work leveraging our toolkit of investor accountability, corporate engagement and policy advocacy.
- Lead and motivate a team of 10 staff members and directly line manage at least three of them.
- Ensure adequate risk management and monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes are in place.
- Together with the Fundraising team and Co-Director of Corporate Engagement, be responsible for securing funding for the LIPH programme, including writing funding bids, supporting with relationship management, supporting the coordination of our Funders’ Governance Group, and helping produce update reports.
- Plan, manage and report on budget for the LIPH programme, delegating workstream and campaign budgets where there are appropriate leads.
- Develop and nurture strategic relationships with senior external stakeholders, including funders, journalists, investors, and civil society organisations.
- Act as one of ShareAction’s subject matter experts on commercial determinants of health, keeping your knowledge up to date with developments across academia, civil society, and public policy.
- Act as a media spokesperson for the team and represent it in internal and external forums.
- Work with peers at the “Head of” level to play a leadership role across ShareAction.

About the role
In this rewarding role, you will manage a portfolio of third party running, hiking and cycling events with the objective of raising over £1 million for people living with cancer.

About the role
We are looking for a Head of Financial Operations, who will provide leadership and development to the Financial Transactions Team and the Local Groups Finance Team during a period of transition to new systems and processes.
You will lead the annual audit process, acting as the primary contact for auditors and other external advisors. Additionally, you'll be responsible for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of financial and reporting processes throughout the charity by leveraging data and digital tools.
What you’ll do
- Lead on the Annual Accounts production and act as key contact to the Auditors and Governance Team.
- Continuously drive improvements and actively contribute to the Finance Transformation to finance processes and systems (will also lead on the implementation of a new finance system when budget is assigned)
- Act as lead, mentor and coach to the Financial Accounting Team and identify opportunities to improve processes.
- Manage financial risks and improve internal controls through compliance to relevant governance
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience of leading the Annual Accounts production and ability to distil and present it to a wide range of non-finance stakeholders
- A CCAB (or equivalent) qualified accountant with excellent technical financial accounting skills, including knowledge of relevant accounting principles, VAT and fund accounting
- Experience building rapport and constructive relationships with senior managers across the organisation to deliver continuous improvements
- A proven track record of coaching and mentoring individuals and delivering results through teams

We are looking for someone to take up an important role in our safeguarding team as a Safeguarding Manager. This role will be crucial in supporting our delivery team to safeguard the young people we work with and help ensure that IntoUniversity provides a safe environment for all of our young people at all times.

This is a permanent role. Part-time, 4 days a week (0.8 FTE). We would be open to discussing the possibility of a full time role with the successful candidate - responsibilities would be adjusted proportionally in this case.

Tues, Weds, Fri: 09:00-17:30
We’re happy to discuss your preference for the non-working day but we would like the successful candidate to work on Fridays. You will also be able to work from home one day a week. (Some out-of-hours work will be required from time to time - for example, out of hours safeguarding phone cover for an enrichment event or residentials).
Location
Could be based in one of the following IntoUniversity centres:
Birmingham, Bradford, Bristol, Clacton, Coventry, Great Yarmouth, Hull, Leeds, Leicester, London, Manchester, Middlesbrough, Norwich, Nottingham, Southampton, Weston-Super-Mare (with occasional travel around the IntoUniversity network as required)
Salary
£35,500 per annum FTE (£28,400 pro rata). This will rise to £36,400 per annum FTE (£29,120 pro rata) from 1st September 2025.
London based candidates will also receive £2,600 London contribution (pro rata). The pro-rated amount is £2,080. This will rise to £2,700 (pro rata) from 1st September 2025. The pro-rated amount will be £2,160.
Annual leave
Full-time staff entitlement, pro-rated for part-time staff: 33 days (inc bank & public holidays) + 3 closure days (two in December and one in July) + additional length of service entitlement (one day per year of service, up to 5 days)
In order to be eligible for the role, applicants must:
- Have achieved a grade C/ grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths and English/ achieved National 5s or Standard Grade at Credit level (grades 1-2) in Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Have previous experience of working with children or young people in a safeguarding capacity.
- Have a secure knowledge of key legislation and statutory guidance on safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Have the right to work in the UK (please note that as a charity we do not have the capacity to sponsor work visas).
Job Purpose
We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and adults. You will work closely with the Head of Safeguarding, the Safeguarding team and the Senior Operations Team to provide a safe environment for all young people and families across our centres and programmes. With the support of the Head of Safeguarding and Operations, the Safeguarding Manager will contribute to the development of safeguarding policies, training, procedures and guidance to promote the welfare and protection of children and young people. Alongside the safeguarding team, you will manage the
coordination of referrals, arranging action and ensuring accurate monitoring and recording of all safeguarding cases.
