We are looking to recruit a dynamic and experienced Senior Research Manager to manage the monitoring, evaluation and learning activities of a high profile National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) portfolio of translational, clinical and applied health research infrastructure funding schemes. 

Job Purpose 
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the post holder will work closely with the rest of the infrastructure team (especially the Programme Leads and Senior Research Managers who are responsible for the development and management of the infrastructure schemes), and with Data Analytics colleagues (who are responsible for designing systems for capturing, cleaning and presenting data), to manage the infrastructure reporting and evaluation activities. At an award level, you will develop, improve and maintain monitoring and reporting processes, and at a scheme level, you will implement monitoring, evaluation and learning approaches, including overseeing the delivery and/or commissioning of impact evaluations. You will support a wider programme around visibility and the strategic use of data within infrastructure, considering links to policy directives around Busting Bureaucracy, the developing NIHR digital strategy and system operability issues with NHS and University systems. 

You will be adept at dealing with an array of data sources (metrics, narrative and financial reporting information), have a good understanding of research impact, an understanding of the routes to achieving it, and how to apply monitoring, evaluation and learning approaches to generate insight that can evidence impact and support continuous improvement of scheme funding and support processes. You will have experience of managing complex projects, knowledge of the UK’s research environment and political agenda, and honed skills in stakeholder management. You will be a strategic thinker, capable of seeing the issues and solutions from a number of different stakeholder perspectives to see the bigger picture. You will be comfortable dealing with complexity and developing an approach to balance the needs of different stakeholders. You will be a team player, able to work in close partnership with a number of teams at NIHR and the DHSC.

Key Accountabilities:

• Manage elements of the infrastructure monitoring processes: you will manage parts of the infrastructure reporting process both internally at the technical systems level and externally with users to support training and propose improvements. You will work with others to develop new reporting processes (for new awards), maintain existing annual and quarterly reporting, support the review of submitted reports by the team and the production of feedback, and drive process improvements through a continuous improvement cycle.

• Development of reporting outputs: support quantitative and qualitative data interrogation in projects across the infrastructure. Interrogating data to support strategic reviews, and, where feasible and appropriate, designing visual dashboards of progress using data collected and collated for reporting purposes. Also draw on award level reported data to feed into strategic scheme level evaluations and reviews, to produce impact case studies, and to feed into organisational level learning and reporting. This work will help articulate the contribution of the NIHR infrastructure to the wider health and social care system as well as feeding into broader NIHR initiatives such as the NIHR Impact Programme.

• Scheme reviews: support the delivery of scheme mid-term reviews and evaluations, working closely with the infrastructure team’s Senior Research Managers responsible for specific schemes and the central Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning team to design and plan an appropriate review process for individual schemes.

• Stakeholder engagement: through appropriate stakeholder engagement, developing a sound understanding of data needs, minimising additional requirements of key stakeholders and understanding the types of reporting outputs/feedback that would provide the greatest utility for accountability and learning purposes. Proactively share key learnings across the infrastructure team and with wider stakeholder groups as appropriate.

• Flexible support to the team:  flexible approach to work tasks with ability to ‘muck in’ and provide support on additional tasks across the team during busy times.

Line Management:

• The post holder will be responsible for the line management of one Research Manager and will matrix manage other team members, where appropriate.

Qualifications

Experience and Technical Skills

Required Criteria: 

• A PhD degree in biomedical or health sciences research (or significant equivalent sector experience)
• Experience of implementation or management of monitoring, evaluation and learning approaches including impact assessment and reporting, ideally within health and care research
• Data collection, collation and analysis skills using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies
• Current knowledge of the UK’s health and care research and policy landscape
• Strategic thinker able to interpret complex information while having a clear view of the “big picture”
• Solutions orientated with evidence of delivering projects, requiring evidence synthesis, report writing and developing implementable recommendations

Desirable Criteria:

• Specialist training/knowledge in monitoring, evaluation and learning approaches and methods
• Experience of authoring high quality impact reports and case study reports for a variety of technical and general audiences
• Experience of developing electronic dashboards using visualisation tools such as Qlik Sense, Looker Studio or equivalents
• Line management and staff development experience

Job Purpose

To manage and develop the home from hospital settle service in the hospitals that you are responsible for, to support timely and successful patient discharges from hospital and prevent re-admissions.  You will work in collaboration with hospital teams and community teams to lead and manage your team to support the smooth transition from hospital to home for service users.  The service works with people for time limited support (usually up to 6 weeks) to adjust and settle back in their homes, and to prevent readmission into hospital. 

Key Tasks

• Work in partnership with the hospitals and other health and social care professionals to coordinate safe and timely discharges for referred clients.  This involves attending meetings with hospital personnel including Discharge Co-ordinators and Ward Managers to discuss discharges and plan who and how individuals will be supported as appropriate. 
• Manage a team working across two hospitals and ensuring the service is available between the contracted hours.
• Work collaboratively with other agencies providing support services.
• Conduct initial assessments of people referred to the services as necessary.
• Plan and develop person centred interventions to provide short term support for people after hospital discharge.
• Work with GPs as appropriate in identifying and supporting patients to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions.
• Work with people with a range of needs, dealing with issues ranging from social isolation and keeping people engaged in their community, to preventing unnecessary admission to hospital.
• Support the hospitals with delayed transfer of care (DTOC).
• Coordinate and monitor the caseload of referrals allocated to team members to ensure a fair and manageable distribution of work.
• Rota planning to ensure staff flexibility and availability, enabling planned rosters that best suit both hospital and patient needs.

About the role:

The Business Support Officer role sits within the Professionalisation team at the Council which develops and manages a range of products including the development and management of the Council Standard, cyber security specialisms and professional titles. The team is also responsible for managing and supporting licensed bodies, developing the career framework, and implementing and managing processes for mapping to our Professional Titles.

Our team is looking for someone who lives and breathes our passion as much as we do and will put the work (and the miles) into bringing our mission to life. You will do this through:

• Developing a strategic approach in how we can increase the range of instruments and supportive apparatus available, working with instrument makers and technologists where necessary. 
• Identifying potential entrants for our OHMI Competition, which is where we challenge developers and instrument makers to adapt or create instruments that can be played without the use of one hand and arm.

We are seeking a highly organised and quick-witted Operations Officer to join our dynamic team at Spring Community Hub. The ideal candidate will have experience in operations or project management and excel at managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Our Participation and Involvement Manager will build on existing practice across the organisation and lead on the implementation and further development of a participation and involvement framework, enabling a large and diverse range of kinship carers to share their views and expertise meaningfully, safely and effectively to shape Kinship’s activity. What You'll Do:

Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential Corporate partners within FTSE 250.

Develop and implement a partnership strategy to enhance financial support and resources for Urban Synergy programmes.

Develop tailored partnership packages that align with the philanthropic priorities and interests of our Corporate partners.

Prepare compelling and professionally written proposals and presentations to potential corporate partners. Ensure they are aligned with the interests of potential partners.

Effectively communicate the impact and benefits of partnerships to prospective sponsors.

Lead negotiations and finalise partnership agreements, ensuring alignment with Urban Synergy's values and goals.

Work with legal and finance teams to ensure contract compliance.

Collaborate with programme managers to ensure seamless integration of corporate partnerships into Urban Synergy's initiatives.

Provide regular updates to the leadership team on partnership progress and outcomes.

Work closely with the finance team to manage and report on the financial aspects of corporate partnerships.

Ensure budgetary alignment with partnership goals and objectives.

Who we are looking for:

Proven experience in a partnership development or similar role, preferable within the non-profit sector. Minimum of 5 yrs experience in this area. 

Bachelors’ Degree in Business, management, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Works collaboratively within a team and also work independently

Comes with ideas and suggestions on how to develop and nurture our partnerships.

Self-starter, who is results-oriented with a track record of achieving fundraising targets.

Is socially dynamic, successful at networking and is able to nurture and maintain positive relationships

Strategic thinking and ability to align partnerships with organisational goals.

Exceptional writing and communication skills and displays a commitment to excellence through careful attention to detail.

Strong organisational and project management skills.

Proficiency in fundraising software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Knowledge of ethical fundraising practices and compliance regulations.

Collaborative and strategic builder.

Policy Advisor – Research and Data Monitoring

Contract type: 12 months Fixed Term, 35 hours per week

Location: London, UK subject to the right to work.

UK Hybrid Working: A minimum of 40% of working time is spent face to face, either in London office, or as a result of external engagement or travel for WaterAid. WaterAid is located at Canary Wharf, London and this will be your location and contract base.

The WaterAid Global Policy and Research team is a mix of research, and thought leadership in their portfolio areas, and influencing global and national policy-making processes. 

About the Role

As our Policy Advisor –Research and Data Monitoring you will support the highest standards of research development, analysis and communication of data relating to the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector. 

In this role, you will lead high-level analysis and quality assurance of WASH data use as well as management research resources, include the Research and Evidence Bank, the Research Tracker and the Statistics Bank.

You’ll also: 

• Contribute to the design and commissioning of research projects to support advocacy, campaigns, media communications
• Oversea and manage small research projects – facilitating the sharing of research outputs and learnings within GPAC and across the organisation
• Work closely with GPAC colleagues and other WaterAid UK departments and ensure that information on commissioned research projects and learnings are shared widely across the WaterAid Federation (Australia, Canada, India, Japan, Sweden, UK, and USA)
• Play an active role in the research team, support colleagues and provide feedback as required and support any other relevant processes within the remit of the Policy team and GPAC in general

Requirements

To be successful, you’ll need: 

• Excellent numerical skills and understanding of data and statistics, including an ability to seek the latest data from regular sources and to access new sources of data relevant to WaterAid’s work
• Strong analytical, research and writing skills (English language)
• An entrepreneurial approach to supporting influencing work, including the ability to take the initiative and rapidly adapt work plans to seize new and unforeseen opportunities.
• Working style that reflects WaterAid’s values of Respect, Accountability, Courage, Collaboration, Integrity and Innovation
• Proven ability to work and communicate effectively across diverse cultures in a matrix organisation
• Masters’ degree, or post-graduate qualifications and research experience; in relevant discipline; including statistics, economics, geography, maths, statistics, and international development
• Excellent IT (Information Technology) skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Power BI

Although not essential, we also prefer you to have:

• A successful track record of developing high quality research work
• Good knowledge of the WASH and development sectors
• Experience of working in research for public policy and/or advocacy on policy issues
• Project management skills
• Ability to build the networks and coalitions needed to drive an effective change agenda - especially with major international agencies (multilateral development banks, United Nations agencies, OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) etc.), governments and NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations)
• Fluency in French, Portuguese or Spanish
