Summary of the role:

The HR Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day HR operations, focusing on delivering high-quality HR services. The role oversees employee relations, employee experience, learning and development, reward, resourcing, talent management, people analytics, EDI, wellbeing and payroll. The HR Manager will ensure the effective execution of HR processes and the maintenance of HR good practices across Muslim Aid, with a specific focus on using HR metrics to inform strategic decisions.

About the Role:

1. Oversee and manage all aspects of HR operations, ensuring compliance with legal and organisational policies.
2. Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring they receive all necessary training and introductions to Muslim Aid policies.
3. Manage the recruitment process from job posting to hiring, ensuring a smooth and efficient candidate experience.

Our team in Zambia are looking for a Programme Officer to join their WASH NTD project. The WASH NTD Programme Officer will be responsible for all programme implementation, monitoring and evaluation related to SAFE aspects especially WASH and behaviour change interventions.

Accountabilities:

• Support the organisation of the SAFE and WASH NTD Data Tool Development and Targeted Design Assessment for WASH activities relating to the programme and broader NTD work.
• Work closely with the Technical Hub WASH Team, supporting the design and delivery of specific Behavioural Change and Communication activities in targeted districts, and national level where appropriate.
• Collaborate with appropriate Ministries and WASH sector partners to implement and monitor appropriate actions to improve efficiency and quality of project implementation in WASH.
• Promote the adaption and adoption of preferred practices on BCC and assess their application across the programme.
• Ensure timely reporting on all WASH NTD activities in the Accelerate programme.

The On The Water Project Assistant will support the delivery of the On The Water project at one of our boating stations in Birmingham. The project provides young people from outside Sea Cadets, age 9-14, the opportunity to get on the water, learn new skills and build confidence through boating activity. • The welcoming and registration of participants for the On The Water project
• Collecting and uploading daily statistics and figures that show how the project is progressing
• Making new and repeat bookings
• Talking to participants and their parents/carers about the opportunities within Sea Cadets
• Managing a waiting list and reducing drop-outs
• Responsible for the safety and wellbeing of participants alongside the Boat Station staff
• Ensuring that participants complete surveys to share their experience of the project and encourage adults to feedback on their young people’s experience

About the team

We have been successfully running the first ever national Peer Support Service for kinship carers in England for over two years since January 2022. We have created 145 peer support groups and supported and trained kinship carers to create and lead their groups in a way which meets their needs.

With a new contract from the Department for Education, we’re now entering a new phase of our service with a focus on:

• creating 90 new sustainable peer support groups in areas of most need over 21 months;
• sustaining and developing the current 145 existing groups, and;
• providing support and help to build a sustainable and welcoming community for all peer support groups across England. 

About the role

The type of person we’re looking for:

This is a new a role and a new structure for the team. You will need to be a strong, boundaried manager and leader. You will understand the power of building relationship-focussed peer support groups and the importance of in person local community engagement and outreach.

The team you lead will focus on community outreach and relationship building to develop new groups and new support group leaders through to independence. By independence, we mean that the groups will function successfully without a staff member present.

We want groups to feel a sense of community and belonging through all support and services we offer at Kinship, so your team will be the local contact.  They are expected to be out and about in communities.

Your team will need to build resilience through in person outreach, support, training and connection to ensure groups are able to function independently before moving to new ‘hub’ team who will provide centralised support and community building.

Your team will also reach out to existing groups (providing a face of the service and a relationship with it), ensuring they have the resources they need and support to sustain their group and then transition to the ‘hub’ team. This will include in person visits.

Purpose of the role:

The role of Programme Lead is to oversee and take accountability for the development and creation of new sustainable kinship peer support groups across England in priority areas as part of a new hub and spoke delivery model. In this context, your team is the ‘spoke’ of the service, delivering local outreach, online groups (where appropriate) and relationship building with kinship carers.

Managing a national team of seven staff (two direct line reports), you will provide firm leadership, ensuring targets and funder SLAs are met consistently and the service is delivered to a high quality.  You will provide monthly reports, ensuring delivery is on track and most importantly that kinship carers have an excellent and positive experience.

Key responsibilities include:

•  

• Deliver sustainable peer support groups for kinship carers.

• Ensure policies and systems to deliver new groups and move others to sustainability, are followed and updated with user needs at the heart.

• Champion and innovate the peer support service blueprint. 

• Oversee day-to-day operations for service delivery and meet KPIs and SLAs.

• Line manage and supervise two Senior Peer Support Officers.

• As a deputy safeguarding lead at Kinship, you will work closely with other colleagues to identify areas of training for the organisation and identify improvements in delivery or processes.

Essential requirements include:

• Substantial experience in delivering a high-profile national service or programme. This includes overseeing delivery, operational planning, monitoring, budgeting, managing delivery and meeting KPIs.

• Significant experience of leading the development and delivery of peer support and community development services.

• Significant experience of managing volunteer recruitment and retention.

• Significant experience of change management and driving high performance.

5. In this role you will be a deputy safeguarding lead at Kinship. Give one example of a safeguarding situation that required your response in a previous role. Explain what your rationale and thought process was. How did you hold appropriate boundaries and progress actions to effectively safeguard vulnerable children and adults?

You will be expected to maintain all existing relationships with grantees, as well as manage funding calls, applications, legal and financial elements, and reporting.  You will have a strong understanding of research, a can-do attitude, and the appetite to work in a small, dynamic organisation.

You will be educated to degree level or above in health sciences, life sciences or with equivalent relevant experience. With experience of developing, monitoring, reporting and delivering multiple projects simultaneously, you will also be able to communicate complex scientific concepts in a clear and accessible way and be able to plan, budget and monitor grant award expenditure and be comfortable taking decisions and responsibility.

• To take a leadership role in supporting the Stothard Supported Living mission.

• In discussion with the Project Manager, take direct responsibility for managing and delivering identified functions. Progressively increase the range of experience in supporting and leading staff, and liaising with external agencies.

• Liaising with the Finance Administrator to deliver administrative/financial support related to the Deputy role as it develops further.

• Provide service support and a secure and positive home for tenants whilst ensuring highest quality standards.

• Assist the Project Manager in line with direction from the Trustee Management Committee.

• Take an active role with the Project Manager in planning future developments.

• Deputise for the Project Manager where required.  Step up as Project Manager for an enhanced salary if the current Project Manager is unavailable for a significant period of time. There will need to be discussion about extending the part time role in these circumstances.

Collaborating closely with our Director of Support Services and fellow Betknowmore colleagues, you will oversee the delivery of workshops, facilitate focus groups, and participate in community engagement events. Supported by our partnership with The Faiths Forum for London, you will play a pivotal role in fostering relationships within the Black community to maximize the project's impact over the next two years.

This position is primarily home-based, with regular travel across Greater London as required. The role is full-time, offering a competitive salary between £33,000 - £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications.
