This is an exciting opportunity to join the Challenge Events Team at Dementia UK, where you will help coordinate the day-to-day activities of the team, providing crucial administrative support and helping to deliver excellent supporter experiences.

As the Challenge Events Assistant, you will act as the first point of contact for challenge event supporters, responding to enquiries within agreed timeframes and ensuring an excellent stewardship through various means of communication outlets to motivate, recognise and reward supports to encourage their long-term support.

You will be responsible for coordinating fundraising resources, preparing fundraising materials ahead of race day events and ensuring that post-campaign data is utilised efficiently in order to thank supporters appropriately. Additionally, you will oversee administrative processes for the team including data entry, monitoring new supporters and updating projects plans.

To be successful in the role, you will have experience of building positive relationships and customer service expertise, as well as an understanding of using databases and Office 365. Additionally, we are looking for someone with excellent communication, organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise your workload.

Main Duties:

The Social Care IDVA will work within a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy, and support service to ensure the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process, specialising in working with women whose families are involved with Family Children Services and risk to children is a factor. You will work to make proactive contact and provide high quality advocacy and support based upon a client led needs and risk assessment to women, focusing on working with those aged 18 and over who access the domestic abuse service. This role is part advocacy, part training/education and project work to improve response to victim/survivors experiencing domestic abuse. You will be embedded in the local authority Family Children Services team, working with Social Care professionals to ensure they adopt a trauma informed approach, can recognise the dynamics of domestic abuse and are providing more holistic support. You will be the domestic abuse subject matter expert on site, upskilling fellow professionals and acting as a point of contact for any clients experiencing domestic abuse and support requirements from Family Children Services.

The borough has a focus on prioritising and developing good DA work in social care and this is an opportunity to be a major player in institutional change, ensuring that women accessing Family Children services for their children have an improved experience and that the local authorities are leading the way for all survivors engaging with their services.

About You:

You will have an excellent understanding of domestic violence and its effects on women and children and of best practice within the domestic abuse in various areas of need, with particular knowledge on children safeguarding/legislation. As an experienced domestic violence advocate who has worked with complex and multiple needs, the post holder will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. Experience of direct work with female survivors of domestic violence, of supporting women with child safeguarding, needs, and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential for this post, as is the need to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision.

Job Title: Occupational Therapist

Location: The role is based in East Croydon, accessible by Train and Tram Link. Unfortunately this location does not have step free access.

About the role

We're looking for an Occupational Therapist who has experience in Complex Mental Health and Substance Misuse to join our residential service based in Croydon. You will use your skills and knowledge to support residents with mental health challenges, complex needs, and will provide specialist occupational therapy as part of their recovery. This is a great opportunity to shape your own role, alongside a team of Positive Engagement Workers, a Dual Diagnosis Worker, and Clinical Psychologist, whilst working closely with the Group Psychological Lead and other external partnerships. You will receive regular supervisions and have time with an external Occupational Therapist. 

You will:

• Deliver evidence-based interventions based on holistic assessments to support personalised recovery, integration, and promotion of independent living skills
• Be proactive with planning and delivering meaningful activities; this includes one to one and group sessions
• Work closely with clinical teams to meet people where they are, assess their situation, and write recommendations and signposting accordingly
• Assess their current situation through holistic assessments and put plans in place for them to overcome their personal barriers, to enable them for independent living and stability
• Provide psychologically informed interventions in a person-centred approach, flexibly to the resident needs
• Complete various assessments from function to task related to help empower enhanced community and personal engagement
• Set SMART goals in a collaborative way with residents, taking into account all information present from various team members and partner agencies.  

About you

We’re looking for a passionate, driven and qualified Occupational Therapist, registered with the HCPC who has experience working with people that have multiple complex needs. You’ll be confident applying theory to the practical working environment. We use a trauma informed, non judgmental approach, so it’s important that you can work well with others, fit into the team, and build trusting relationships. You will be able to apply your knowledge of relevant guidance and protocols to the working environment. You will have a background in a similar role, able to provide specialist support to our residents who struggle with their mental health and substance use.

What we look for:

• Ability to provide specialised occupational therapy assessment and treatment for residents/participants.
• Willingness to work in adherence to Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and Consultation Observation Tool (COT) and other practice guidelines.
• Ability to identify activity needs and wishes through various approaches such as assessments, observations, and discussions then use these to implement plans of action.
• Ability to recognise signs of deteriorating mental health, physical health, or other health implications and initiate appropriate interventions to prevent crisis or other risks.
• Supporting residents/participants with the relevant life skills, knowledge, and resources to support their journey to achieve independence and their desired goals.
• Ability to develop, participate in, and encourage residents/participants to participate in the running and development of various projects and group engagement activities.

You'll be the first point of contact for over 100 student groups, providing tailored support, training and advice to help them thrive. From processing finance requests and booking spaces to helping deliver key events like Welcome Fair, Varsity, and Awards, you'll make sure students and colleagues have what they need to succeed. You'll oversee student group elections, manage the promotion of opportunities, and work with colleagues across UAL to create inclusive spaces where students are welcomed and engaged.
