As our Regional Programmes Manager, you’ll inspire and lead our team of remote-based Senior Project Workers and Project Workers to effectively deliver high-quality support services for kinship families across the North of England and some parts of the Midlands. You’ll do this by working in close collaboration with local authority teams across the North and the Midlands who have commissioned our services. You’ll also develop effective partnerships with other local authorities to secure commissions and generate income for services.
Your team will deliver the following programmes:
- Kinship Ready – online workshops to prepare new and prospective special guardians for their role, as well as wraparound one-to-one support
- Kinship Reach – remote one-to-one support and virtual support groups
- Kinship Connected – in-person one-to-one support and support groups in the community
This role is home-based with travel across the North and Midlands, as well as other parts of England and Wales from time to time.

Summary
We’ve come a long way over the last few years with establishing an organisational approach to managing projects and beginning to embed this way of working. We are now in the process of developing a new strategy for the charity along with accompanying plans that will deliver the impact we want to make. Much of our priority activity will need to be delivered as projects within our portfolio of change. To support this, we will need to further evolve our project management skills and expertise.
This senior role within our Portfolio Office will play a key part in this. Part of the Impact and Improvement department, this role is responsible for the continued evolution, embedding and championing of our organisational approach to project management, as well as recruiting, managing, and nurturing our project management resource, and helping ensure all projects are delivered on time, to budget and to the required standard.
About the role
This role will attract, recruit, and manage our project management resource (including permanent and fixed term staff brought in to deliver specific projects) in response to requests for project management resource for priority projects across the charity.
They will continue to evolve our organisational approach to project management - leading on future iterations of our project tools, templates, and guidance, and further embed this approach through the development and delivery of a project management learning and development offer.
A proportion of the role, roughly 50%, will include managing projects supporting the effective delivery of our portfolio of priority projects.
As the profession of project management continues to evolve in light of ever-changing external contexts, the role will be responsible for responding to emerging trends ensuring the charity fosters good practice.
Key requirements
- Substantial experience and knowledge of successfully initiating, planning, executing, closing and reviewing benefits of large, complex and long-term projects in a project management role.
- Skilled and experienced in managing people, and attracting, recruiting and retaining talent.
- Proficient in managing change, utilising associated approaches & tools, and bringing people on the journey.
- Highly effective listening, verbal and written communication skills with experience designing and delivering workshops and project management training sessions.
- Able to work in partnership with people at all levels, demonstrating strong skills in constructive challenge, collaboration, networking and influencing.
- Experience of organisational governance arrangements, monitoring major project management variables including people, process & data, and strong reporting skills.

Purpose of the role
The purpose of this role is to be the lead project manager on our Adult Social Action projects, mainly within Ipswich. This will involve empowering and supporting volunteers and adults from various backgrounds and communities to carry out engagement activities. This includes volunteer training, managing a micro shop and creating workshops for a diverse range of adults with different support needs. It also involves the recruitment, deployment, and supervision of sessional workers, such as counsellors and creative therapists. The two projects currently on Adult Social Action are:
Perspectives:
This is a partnership project with Health Outreach Ipswich, a health centre which provides GP services for marginalised communities, including newly arrived asylum-seekers, the Roma community and people experiencing homelessness. The purpose of the partnership is to provide opportunities for people from these communities to engage in social action and volunteering.
Survival Stories: An inter-generational project which supports adults with symptoms of severe mental illness to share their survival strategies with young people. This is achieved through a therapeutic pathway which supports project participants to produce creative works. The project specifically targets adults with a BAME identity and those who are aged 65 and above as these communities tend to be under-represented in mainstream mental health services.
The post-holder will also contribute to the wider work of our regional team, which involves empowering communities to grow their resilience and organically find solutions to the challenges they face with the end aim of engaging them into other community and volunteering activities.
This post will involve face-to-face interaction with volunteers and members of the public and will predominately be office based.

Role Purpose
Volunteering Matters are looking for a talented, dynamic, and professional Project Manager to join our team. The right candidate would be someone who can work flexibly while demonstrating a strong understanding and commitment to our organisational values.
As our Project Manager, you will lead a team of staff and volunteers, playing a key role overseeing, managing, delivering and developing our work in local communities across Edinburgh and the Lothians. As a senior member of the team, you will role model our organisational values and demonstrate excellent leadership skills. You will develop and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, volunteers, people accessing our programmes, funders, partners, and other stakeholders.
You will be responsible for the quality delivery and development of our established Family Supporters programme in Edinburgh, as well as our new Grandmentors programmes in Edinburgh, and East Lothian. These programmes offer practical, social, and emotional support to families and young people (including those who are care experienced or who have Adverse Childhood Experiences), empowering them to face a range of life challenges.

This is an exciting time to join our Patient Projects team as we launch our Empowering People with Prostate Cancer (EPPC) project which aims to better educate and empower people living with prostate cancer.
This project, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, aims to provide people living with prostate cancer with the information and support they need, at diagnosis, when considering further treatment options, thereby reducing treatment regret, and ensuring better quality of life outcomes. Central to this project is the creation of a new patient information and empowerment website, The Infopool.
This role will be instrumental in the development and delivery of this project, helping ensure the project achieves its ambitious outcomes. You will be instrumental in delivering on the EPPC project and expanding the Patient Project Department into new and more ambitious areas.
This project is part time, 3.5 days per week, and can be either fully remote working or flexible hybrid (our office is in Holborn). Some travel will be involved in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Build new and manage existing relationships with clinical stakeholders, including HCPs, NHS system managers, Cancer Alliances, and other relevant stakeholders.

Education Project Manager role responsibilities:
- You’ll develop and manage the 1-3 year Education Growth plan in England and Wales based on detailed scoping and feedback from teams within YHA, from customers, stakeholders and based on intel’ from the market.
