The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) is seeking an experienced and strategic Financial Controller to oversee the financial management, control and compliance functions of the College.

This is a pivotal leadership role within the Finance team, supporting the College’s mission to improve child health by ensuring strong financial governance, sound reporting, and long-term sustainability. Working closely with the Associate Director of Finance and senior leaders across the organisation, you will take responsibility for the accuracy, integrity and efficiency of all financial operations and reporting processes.

As Financial Controller, you will lead a team of six, overseeing financial control, statutory reporting, payroll, and compliance. You will ensure that robust internal controls are in place, and manage relationships with auditors, banks and investment partners.

This role will suit a qualified accountant with substantial experience in financial management and a collaborative leadership style.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the delivery of accurate and timely month-end and year-end processes, including group consolidations and statutory accounts
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax, audit and charity regulations (including SORP)
• Managing internal and external audit processes and acting as primary contact for auditors
• Overseeing payroll, accounts payable and receivable, cash management and treasury functions
• Maintaining and improving financial systems, processes, and internal controls
• Leading, developing and mentoring a team of finance professionals to achieve operational excellence
• Working closely with colleagues across the College to provide financial insight and analysis to support strategic decision-making
• Supporting the budgeting and forecasting cycle and contributing to strategic projects and funding initiatives

Essential skills and experience:

• Degree in finance, accounting or related field, and full professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in financial management, ideally within the nonprofit or public sector
• Proven track record of leading statutory reporting and year-end audit processes, including production of group consolidated accounts
• Experience managing financial operations in a complex organisation, preferably in the charity or healthcare sector
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
• Advanced Excel and strong working knowledge of financial systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels
• Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate a high-performing team

· Dignity in Dying is the UK’s leading campaign for assisted dying law reform. We fight for a compassionate assisted dying law for terminally ill, mentally competent adults. We are a national campaign and membership organisation campaigning for change across the UK.

· Compassion in Dying is a national charity working to amplify people’s voices, shift attitudes and drive changes to the healthcare system so people’s end-of-life decisions are heard, understood and respected when it matters most. We support people to start honest conversations about death and dying, and record and revisit their wishes whenever they want to.

The role

We are looking for an experienced, proactive media professional to join our team during a crucial phase of Dignity in Dying’s campaign. We welcome applicants with a strong news-sense, political nous and a flair for story-telling who can use the media and other channels to effectively influence a range of audiences. At a pivotal time for the movement for choice at the end of life, the successful candidate will be a team-player who can communicate complex subject matter in compelling and creative ways, keep abreast of media and political trends, support the delivery of national and regional comms plans and champion the voices of terminally ill people and bereaved families - both inside and outside Parliament.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Campaigns and Communications team in monitoring, evaluating and securing media coverage, along with developing and rolling out campaign activities.
• Assist in the efficient running of the press office including responding to incoming media enquiries in a timely manner, drafting and issuing media comments, compiling spokesperson briefings, and building and maintaining media lists.
• Oversee our media monitoring and its timely dissemination to staff, stakeholders and supporters, identifying where reactive responses are necessary or where there are proactive opportunities.
• Use the media monitoring to understand different media outlets' tone and framing of the issue, how this can impact our messaging and influence further opportunities for the campaign.
• Act as key point of contact with relevant suppliers, i.e. media monitoring providers, to ensure efficiency and value for money, identifying and acting upon opportunities for improvement. 
• Support the organisation’s work with terminally ill people and bereaved relatives who act as personal stories and spokespeople for our campaigns, projects and programmes, namely by responding to those who get in touch to share their experience in a professional, sensitive and timely manner, assessing suitability for media or other campaign work, and triaging to other members of the team where appropriate. 
• Maintain and update the personal story database to ensure usability and access from relevant members of the team while ensuring GDPR is upheld.
• Work with the Media & Campaigns Officer to secure local and regional coverage of personal stories, influential figures, local campaign activity and relevant research, informed by our national media strategy and plans. 
• Work closely with the Officer and Manager to plan media logistics for demonstrations, liaising with journalists, being proactive to ensure the smooth running of the event, and supporting personal stories and spokespeople.

As our Digital Editor – Policy Practice and Advocacy, you will take day-to-day responsibility for content on WaterAid's WASH Matters and global websites and global social media channels, creating high-quality, user-centred material that compels people to act, while communicating organisational priorities. You will work closely with our Global Policy and Advocacy, and International Programmes departments to ensure the effective planning, production and continuous optimisation of digital content that is both inspiring and engaging.

In this role, you will:

• Support the Digital Content Manager - Policy, Practice and Advocacy (PPA) to deliver the digital content strategy for PPA content.
• Collaborate with other teams on developing audience-led digital content for global advocacy campaigns and moments.

We are excited at the potential to bring our heritage to life through our Heritage Fund project 'St Richard's 60:60 - celebrating our first 60 years and preparing for the next'. The National Lottery Heritage Fund have awarded us £248,000 to develop a £3.5m project which will restore our iconic Modern church and celebrate it's first 60 years as a launchpad for the future.  Our goal is to give our Grade II church a secure and sustainable future as a home for a thriving church and a welcoming flexible space for community groups and activities. 

St Richard's Church was opened in 1966 in the heart of a new housing estate alongside a new Primary School, with which it has a strong and supportive working relationship. It is a striking and flexible building with a strong local presence.  It has significant architectural and artisic features and the hyberbolic paraboloid roofs are amongst the few remaining examples in the country. However the roof covering is failing and the timber roof shells are deteriorating rapidly, leading to it being placed on the Heritage at Risk Register in 2025. Our Heritage Fund project will repair and restore the building and provide engagement opportunities bringing its heritage to life while meeting community needs. 

The Community Engagement and Activity Plan Consultant will:

• provide expert advice on the development of the Activity Plan and Activity Action Plan, drawing on comparator projects and following The National Lottery Heritage Fund guidelines and Heritage 2033 Strategy.
• draw up and deliver a consultation programme with the Project Steering Group, building on the work already undertaken and plan and lead pilot heritage activities during the development phase
• develop relationships with existing and potential stakeholders connected with the development and delivery of the Activity Plan.
• research and prepare an Interpretation Plan to inform the Activity Plan and Action Plan
• produce a complete Activity Plan that meets current Heritage Fund requirements, including a detailed budget, timeline and any supporting briefs or job descriptions required for delivery.

Grove Park Youth Club is an accessible and dedicated space for local children and young people, situated in a remarkable, purpose-built youth club building, constructed in 1966 as part of the Chinbrook Estate development. We are a registered charity (Ref No. 1196106) located on Marvels Lane in Grove Park (SE12 9PR), within the London Borough of Lewisham.

Our mission is to make Grove Park Youth Club a hub for local children and young people to learn, build connections, and explore and develop their interests. We provide a safe and welcoming space where young people can engage in fun and educational activities, sports and cultural activities, build life skills, as well as seek support with the pressures they face in the wider world.

The youth club is managed by a community-led Trust of people connected to the area who led a seven-year campaign to save and reopen the building. We are a small charity that has achieved exceptional success in reopening the youth club and taking control of this purpose-built space. GPYC Studios is our flagship in-house open access youth club launched in 2023, serving local children and young people aged 11–17 (up to 21 with SEND). Our programming aims to spark curiosity and nurture self-discovery in a safe and inclusive environment. Job Role

The GPYC Studios Creative Wellbeing Lead will work in close collaboration with the Trust and report directly to the Chair. This multifaceted role includes responsibilities across team leadership, programme development, outreach and engagement, partnership management, and on-site delivery. In addition to this, the Lead will be expected to fill the role of Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO), for which training can be provided for.

Whilst the role has a considerable administrative element, it is key that the Creative Wellbeing Lead brings a strong sense of creativity, flexibility, and play to the space. Being present and physically facilitating fun and constructive interactions with young people is crucial.

The Creative Wellbeing Lead will be supported by a Creative Wellbeing Assistant (to be recruited in February 2026) in both organising and delivering the programme, alongside two Creative Wellbeing Practitioners who specialise in pastoral care, and a team of sessional youth workers.

This is a part-time position, working 10.5 hours per week at a rate of £29.37. The role includes regular on-site presence during our sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (7 hours total). In addition, availability during standard working hours (Monday to Friday) is required to fulfil 3.5 hours of remote work. The role will commence in January 2026.

Contract type: Zero hours contract

Salary: £15,422 per annum based on a 50 week year (GPYC is closed for 2 weeks in Dec/Jan)
*NB. This equates pro rata, based on a 40 hour week, to an annual salary of £58,740

Rate: £29.37 per hour

Hours: 10.5 hours per week (7 hours on location at specified time, 3.5 hours remote work)

• Lead the administration, management, and operational delivery of our free, open-access youth club sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, overseeing a team of youth workers and volunteers to achieve a shared vision

• Lead outreach and engagement efforts within the local community and beyond, including through social media platforms such as Instagram, WhatsApp, and others to build visibility and connection

• Embed a consistent ethos across all creative delivery partners, ensuring the values of GPYC and the Trust are clearly reflected in how children and young people experience Studios sessions, the space, and staff interactions

• Be a consistent, positive presence for children and young people, fostering an environment that is enriching, inclusive, and grounded in mutual respect
