The Registered Area Manager postholder will be an experienced social worker, cognisant with trauma informed and therapeutic methodologies, that actively support and encourage diversity and inclusion, as they lead and develop an outstanding service to meet the needs of our families across the region.

The main role requirements for the Fostering Registered Area Manager role includes:

• A Level 5 Management Qualification (or a willingness to enrol on such a course within 6 months of appointment and to complete within 3 years)

We’re looking for a driven and detail focused professional to join our Housing Services Team as a Senior Housing and Income Officer. Finance and Operations Manager

RESPONSIBLE FOR

Overseeing Operations at every level of the organisation, with line management responsibility for some of the team, Project and Workstream Coordinators (approximately 5 direct reports) plus some external consultants and contractors.

LOCATION OF THE POST HOLDER 

The post holder will be predominantly remote working but will be required to attend the head office and drop-in in Manchester, drop-in spaces in Glasgow and London, and support staff members nationally. The post involves some travel throughout the UK and some work outside of office hours.  All equipment required for remote working will be provided and costs for travel will be covered.

ROLE SUMMARY

We are looking for a Finance and Operations Manager to support the CEO in the day-to-day running of our charity. The NUM CEO develops the overall vision of the organisation, while the Operations Manager is responsible to carry out the vision. 

To be successful in this role, you should have experience as a manager in a position of public trust, have excellent financial, organisational, and communications skills, as well as being a problem-solver with work experience in high-pressure work environments. The Finance and Operations Manager must be versatile in their understanding of the larger vision and as well as the fine details and tactics needed to achieve NUM's goals.

The successful candidate will work in an agile manner to ensure the charity continues to be proactive and innovative, while also being responsive to the changing landscape within the sector and the international sex worker rights and safety movement. As part of supporting the operations of NUM, the successful candidate will provide resources, information and support to NUM Managers and Coordinators across diverse projects, workstreams and teams, to achieve aspects of the organisation’s mandate of 'ending all forms of violence against sex workers' and eliminating the conditions that lead to poverty and survival sex work.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

• At least 3 years' work experience as a Manager, Project or Programme Manager or similar role that requires oversight of a whole system, business, operation or organisation Experience leading remote or hybrid teams is desired. This includes time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, lead team meetings and support members to manage resources, timelines and project budgets, etc. 

• At least two years’ experience in grant writing and fund development, as well as in financial management, with a demonstrated ability to co-develop budgets, cashflow forecasts and financial reporting as well as oversee banking activities and work with accountants and Trustees to ensure NUM’s financial health.

• Knowledge of the charity sector, the day-to-day running of a charity, business or similar organisation, and familiarity with the work of National Ugly Mugs and other sex worker-serving and sex worker-led organisations.

• Excellent leadership and delegation skills and experience. 

• Ability to support and execute on elements of NUM's policies and strategic plan. 

• Experience and training in Safeguarding and the ability to integrate appropriate safeguarding into all aspects of NUM services.

• Exemplary critical thinking and problem-solving skills and experience.

• Excellent IT skills and familiarity with CRM systems, applications and digital platforms and services, particularly Google Workplace, QuickBooks, the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as Slack, Trello, and other project management programs and tools.

• Experience in Human Resource Management and monitoring performance across diverse teams. 

• Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to engage in knowledge translation within NUM and with external partners, funders and other stakeholders. 

• A demonstrated ability to be discrete and confidential as part of working on sensitive issues within a diverse staff team, and to be tactful and strategic in challenging social and political climates.

About Rockinghorse Children’s Charity

Rockinghorse Children’s Charity supports sick and disabled children across Sussex. We support babies, children and young people, along with their families, at The Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital and The Trevor Mann Baby Unit in Brighton and all of the specialist children’s wards and baby units throughout Sussex. 

We deliver and fund projects that enable doctors and nurses to do more. All of projects are led by the needs of children and young people and their families – the lifesaving medical equipment, the support for parents and families, the toys for children spending time in hospitals across Sussex, the environments and spaces that help children feel more at home when they are in hospital and additional staff to make sure children get the best possible care when they are unwell. 

Originally set up in 1967 by Dr Trevor Mann, we have been supporting children for nearly 60 years, and in that time, we have supported nearly a million children and their families. As the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, including the Trevor Mann Baby Unit, we work with the NHS, charity partners and the Sussex community to ensure children can be children no matter now sick they are. 

We do not receive any government, statutory or local authority funding and so we rely on the generous support of individuals, community groups, companies and trusts: people like you, who care about children and want Sussex to be a safe place for children to grow up. 

About the role

We are looking for someone to manage the fundraising income streams across a broad range of fundraising activities (including challenge, community, and corporates) with the guidance of the Head of Fundraising & Partnerships and in line with our organisational strategy.

You will be a driven and articulate individual looking to support the whole fundraising team. We are looking for someone who can multitask and manage a wide range of new and existing supporters. Under the direction of the Head of Fundraising and Partnerships this role will support us to engage a broad range of supporters for example you might be managing our challenge events, expanding our community fundraising offer, or supporting our amazing corporate supporters with their staff fundraising plans. Every day is different.

You will play a pivotal role in developing our supporter engagement activities to tie in with the overarching plans for the charity and help to grow the income generated. You will be a team player who can see the importance of the charity’s mission and who is keen to get stuck in. As a small charity this role is very much hands on – doing planning and delivery of fundraising activities, campaigns and projects.

Duties of the role 

Supporting the charity to secure income from across our fundraising portfolio:

Rockinghorse raises money to support children in hospitals, their families and the staff that care for them.

• To manage fundraised income (including challenge, community and corporate) with the charity’s strategic plan at the core of all activity.
• To work with the Head of Fundraising & Partnerships and the team of fundraisers to implement and develop a holistic approach to fundraising and supporters.
• To manage and advise all supporters with their events and activities in aid of Rockinghorse, to maximise income generated and increase awareness and understanding of the charity and our work.
• To proactively grow and develop new ways for supporters to fundraise for Rockinghorse and engage in our work for children across Sussex.
• To manage supporter journeys, products and mechanisms for the supporters you are assigned to manage.
• To ensure you forecast, budget and have contingency planning in place for your income pipeline across your channels.
• To understand the needs, wants and behaviours of new and existing supporters.
• To help Rockinghorse grow our reach and find ways to bring our case for support to life for supporters.
• To evolve our case for support to attract, retain and engage a loyal community of supporters.
• To work with the Head of Fundraising & Partnerships on budgeting and reporting of income generating activities.

Supporting the charity to deliver brilliant, funded projects that support children and their families:

Rockinghorse delivers and funds around 70+ projects per year – supporting sick and disabled babies, children, young people and their families in hospitals in Sussex.

• Work with Head of Fundraising & Partnerships to match projects to partners, supporters and appeals – to ensure our projects are funded and delivered.
• Work with Head of Fundraising & Partnerships to create case for supports for our projects that appeal to and attract a range of supporters.
• Work with Projects Manager and Head of Marketing & Communication to create and disseminate project updates and communication to ensure our supporters are informed, educated and engaged in our work.
• Work with the Head of Marketing and Communications and project leads to build up a bank of case studies, quotes and stories we can use to feed back to supporters.

 Support the charity more widely:

• Represent Rockinghorse at events and networks, building strong peer relationships and sharing best practice.
• To present and speak on behalf of Rockinghorse at schools, colleges, community events and corporate events.
• Model excellent conduct and behaviours in line with the charity’s values and ethos. 
• Carry out other such duties as may be required for the purposes of the charity; this will include working during evenings and weekends as required and the postholder would be expected to work flexibly to do so.
• There are travel requirements for this post (covering the whole of Sussex) to attend, put on events and meet with our supporters.

The Development Events Manager’s role is to organise a portfolio of events and support on the delivery of larger annual fundraising events. They are responsible for creating and delivering a variety of events that align with supporter benefits, in order to engage potential supporters and further develop relationships with existing supporters. The role works collaboratively with the fundraising and membership teams in the department, to best meet the needs of supporters and maximise income.

The successful candidate will have experience of managing events and strong project management skills. They will have excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to work on their own initiative as well as in a team. They will be used to working in a fast-paced environment and to managing multiple events simultaneously

The successful candidate will have the following: 

• Experience of effective events management and successful project management

• Good budget management skills, including tracking expenditure and projecting income

• Good word processing and spreadsheet skills, with great attention to detail, accuracy and consistency

• Excellent and proven organisational skills

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills when working with a range of different groups of people, both internally and externally to the organisation

The role

The Marketing Officer is responsible for two key areas of delivery, splitting their time equally between supporting the PR and Marketing Manager to deliver key campaigns for the Foundation, and leading on the marketing services for the flagship sustainability project, Blues Go Green.

From working across all departments to support on promoting campaigns and overseeing website updates, to being the point of contact for our partner organisations for Blues Go Green, this job will provide an insight into all areas of marketing within the football industry.

We are looking for an experienced National Operations Manager, to manage the StreetDoctors operational delivery, quality standards and to support the organisation's strategic development to become a high performing organisation.

We are an award-winning national charity which trains over 17,000 young people affected by street violence each year in emergency first-aid through a team of 250 healthcare volunteers and youth workers. We empower young people with the skills to become part of the solution to violence by developing the skills and confidence to save lives and increasing their understanding of the medical and psychological consequences of violence.

As the StreetDoctors lead for operational delivery, the role will manage and develop the organisation's delivery capacity and implement new innovative national projects. Are you a Facilities specialist wanting to save the planet? 

We are currently recruiting for a versatile Health, Safety and Facilities Manager to join our Infrastructure Services team, to cover maternity leave. 

As our Health, Safety and Facilities Manager you will provide efficient facilities management and Health & Safety services to and for Friends of the Earth’s offices, workspaces, staff and volunteers. 

We are looking for someone with experience of a broad range of facilities management across multiple sites and the ability to communicate effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and with different needs.

Entry level Health and Safety qualification or working towards this is essential along with up-to-date knowledge of current legislation and experience of carrying out assessments. 

Key Skills and Attributes:  

• Practical experience of a broad range of facilities work, including Hard and Soft Facilities matters across multiple sites. 

• Management of third parties’ contractors hired to complete facilities tasks, using method statements, risk assessments and a permit to work scheme. 

• Proven experience of improving supplier value through contract review, market research and contract negotiation 

• Entry level Health and Safety qualification (IOSH Managing Safely Certificate or similar) and working towards NEBOSH qualification, with up-to-date knowledge of current legislation and experience of carrying out Risk Assessments, DSE Assessments, etc. 

• Experience of communicating effectively and building strong relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds and with different needs, both individually and in groups, and working with sometimes challenging clients. 

• Ability to safely perform equipment installation/elementary repair work and manage/assist in the movement of office apparatus. 

• Lead and manage projects and provide training to staff within a facilities context. 

Special working conditions  

• This role is a key holder for our offices, and the holder must be prepared to be on call in the event of an emergency. 

• There will be the occasional need for travel within the UK, with the requirement to stay away from home overnight on occasions. 

The team:  

Working closely with and managing the Facilities Assistant, you will ensure Friends of the Earth meets the required Health and Safety standards. You will be part of our vital Infrastructure team, sitting within the Finance and Operations Directorate.

The Infrastructure team is responsible for the physical and virtual platform we use to do our work, from physical premises to our network, servers and Service Desk for support issues.
