This role is available on a permanent contract and part time basis (25 or 30 hours a week). The salary range is between £35,000-£40,000 FTE. This is a predominately office-based role, where you will attend the charity’s office in Redbridge (on the Essex/London border), with the opportunity to work from home 1 day a week. The charity is set in a beautiful 5 acre woodland on the edge of a park.
 
Within this Senior Finance Officer role, you will oversee all aspects of the charity’s financial operations and support with strategic decision making.
 
This key role involves managing financial systems (including Sage), processing income and expenditure, preparing monthly management accounts, and supporting with the annual audit process. You will monitor budgets, forecasts, and fund allocations, while ensuring compliance with charity and tax regulations. The role also includes preparing financial reports for Senior Management, Trustees, and Funders, supporting grant and restricted fund administration, and collaborating with the Fundraising and Office Admin teams on payroll, reporting, and financial planning. You’ll also help continuously improve financial procedures and reduce financial risk for the organisation.
 
To be successful in this role, you will be AAT qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA or have equivalent finance qualification. You will have experience in a similar finance role, ideally in the charity or non-profit sector.
 
You will have experience in supporting financial reporting for externally funded projects, preparing charity accounts. You will have an understanding of charity finance, including restricted/unrestricted funds, knowledge of SORP, and charity accounting standards. You will have a strong attention to detail, and confidence in analysing and presenting financial data.
 
You will also have experience using Sage accounting system and Microsoft Excel. You will have excellent communication skills and ability to develop/maintain relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels. You will also have the ability to manage time wisely and work to deadlines.

We seek a Finance Officer to join our small team. You will report to the Head of Finance to provide bookkeeping and accounting support for Global Dialogue and Global Dialogue Ventures Limited. You will use Xero and be responsible for many aspects of operational finance including maintaining accurate records in the organisation’s purchase and sales ledgers; processing accounts payable and receivable; bank and other reconciliations; supporting month, quarter and year-end closes; and resolving ad hoc queries. 

This role is part-time. We are open to negotiating a working pattern that works for the successful candidate and for Global Dialogue. 

 

Terms Permanent, 21-28 hours per week, subject to 12-week probationary period

Remuneration This role has been benchmarked at a UK salary of £33,000 (pro rata for a part time position). Job Description

Maintaining purchase ledger: 

• Review staff and consultant expense claims 

• Reconcile monthly credit card and Soldo statements

• Help prepare for bi-monthly pay runs by reviewing bill postings, ensuring they have received appropriate approvals 

• Setting up payments in bank accounts

• Manage the posting and reconciliation of Employee of Record invoices

 Maintaining sales ledger: 

• Post grant income to Salesforce and Xero, following up any missing paperwork and queries

• Manage monthly programme income and reporting reminders 

• Maintain Salesforce to ensure accuracy of data

 Bank: 

• Bank reconciliation for organisation’s GBP, EUR, USD bank accounts, for review by Head of Finance

• Paypal processing and reconciliations

• Support Head of Finance with FX transaction adjustments

 Reconciliations and journals: 

• Support Head of Finance with a variety of monthly and quarterly reconciliations, prepayments and accruals

• Help maintain the fixed asset register and support with monthly depreciation journals

• Help to prepare a variety of other monthly journals 

Finance systems, policy and training development: 

• Work with Head of Finance to keep finance policies and other documentation up to date

• Help draft new policies and guidance notes as required

• Provide Xero training for all new-starters and work with Head of Finance to keep training needs under review

Person Specification 

• A recognised accountancy qualification and/or qualified by experience in accounting 

• Able to demonstrate strong experience of Xero accounting software

Demos is leading the largest trial of digital democracy in Britain. 

Trust in politics and politicians is in crisis. Only 24% of people trust politicians to make decisions in the best interests of the country. Polarisation is increasing. At the same time, people want to be involved in the public policy decisions that affect them. 

Waves is a €1 million project trialling new technology in local democracy, launched to bring people together to tackle contentious local issues and strengthen trust in local government. Thousands of local people will have the opportunity to shape local government policy on an issue affecting their area.

New AI-powered technology is intended to make it easier, cheaper and quicker for participants to have their say, identify areas of consensus, discuss difficult issues and work through trade-offs together. 

We are working in partnership with two trailblazing councils who are both embracing the opportunity to put the public at the heart of their policy making. The trial will begin in the London Borough of Camden to co-develop an approach to adult social care. The trial will then move on to South Staffordshire District Council as they develop an inclusive engagement process to prepare for their next local plan. The partners will also support a further 25 councils to observe and learn from the process so that they too can use the tools in the future.

About the role 

We are looking for an experienced programme manager who can steer Waves from now until it completes in December 2026. 

You would be joining the programme at a pivotal time as we move from the ‘set-up’ and ‘co-design’ phases of the first 6-months, to the start of the first of our two trials running sequentially over the next 11 months, before moving to a final ‘impact phase’ of dissemination of our toolkits, technology and learning in the final 6 months.

Programme management of Waves means ensuring that the whole project stays on track – on time and on budget – throughout its delivery. There are 5 partners, a number of suppliers and many moving parts, so it is critical that we find someone who can work across the whole programme, anticipating who needs to do what and by when, and ensuring that the programme is delivered successfully so we can draw learnings from it to share widely across the local government, democracy, and tech sectors. 

It is worth bearing in mind that Waves is a ‘test and learn’ trial of a new deliberative democratic process using existing and new technology. Therefore, the team is committed to learning from the project and being comfortable with the uncertainty of not knowing exactly what the outcomes are going to be. 

What you'll need to be sucessful

The Operations Officer plays a vital role in keeping STOP THE TRAFFIK’s day-to-day operations running efficiently. We’re looking for an enthusiastic, positive and creative communicator to help our small team support and empower people living with a genetic bleeding disorder. 

It might sound obvious, but we need someone who loves communicating - whether that’s chatting to supporters at events, writing engaging content or creating eye-catching social media posts.You’ll immerse yourself in the wide range of work our small charity does and help us maximise its impact.

Your main focus will be on shaping and improving content and engagement on our social media channels, with support from our Digital Marketing and Content Manager, but this is a varied role with lots of opportunities to get involved in a wide range of projects. There’ll also be ample of opportunities to develop your skills and experience – both learning from members of the team and through external training. 

We’re really proud of the work we do. This year’s highlights include writing and launching a ground-breaking report on the treatment of women and girls, coordinating a nationwide celebration of sport and organising a weekend event for parents of children newly diagnosed with a bleeding disorder. We are looking for a Communications and Marketing Officer to promote the vision, values and activities of the charity to grow our profile, membership and supporter numbers across the UK.

You will work closely with the small team at the Haemophilia Society to ensure a positive, engaging, consistent, regular and effective programme of communication. 

The Haemophilia Society is a member of the Charity Comms and Charity Digital organisations which offer a range of training opportunities.

Key duties & responsibilities

• Assume the day-to-day running of our social media channels, with support from our Digital Marketing and Content Manager. This includes planning, sourcing and creating content as well as monitoring the channels to ensure comments, queries and feedback is responded to as quickly as possible, liaising with relevant teams where necessary to formulate an agreed response
• Liaising with services, fundraising and public affairs to ensure engaging and informative messaging
• Work with all departments to create content to promote activities, drive member recruitment, fundraising and engagement
• Help to plan, source and create content for our twice-yearly members magazine Community Matters
