The role

As Communications and Marketing Manager, you will work closely with the Head of Group Communications and Marketing to lead Family Fund’s communications and marketing function and team.

You’ll drive high performing strategies and campaigns, work with high profile supporters and lead successful brand channels, content and evaluations that make an impact every day. In this role you’ll drive our brand profile and awareness and ensure that all communications and marketing activities are integrated, inclusive, coherent and engaging, to drive our organisational strategy and objectives.

You’ll need to be a brilliant writer and editor, be able to devise and deliver engaging, high impact content and campaigns that gain cut through for our brand with target audiences. You’ll be comfortable briefing senior staff for media interviews, leading photography and videography shoots, managing a multitude of-channels, and coaching and developing a team.

About You  

Do you want to help to develop and implement a ground-breaking programme to restore temperate rainforest across the west of the UK? Are you passionate about systematically collecting, analysing and communicating data to support the delivery of nature’s recovery? We are looking for an organised and collaborative monitoring officer to help us implement one of the largest nature-based solutions programmes to date. We need you to help us to tackle the climate change and nature crises. 

You will work with other members of the Temperate Rainforest Programme Team to develop and implement a bespoke monitoring programme to systematically capture and communicate data that will enable us to measure and demonstrate the impact of The Wildlife Trusts’ UK Temperate Rainforest Programme – on biodiversity, climate change mitigation and adaptation, local communities and the economy as well as supporting monitoring on other landscape scale initiatives. 

We are looking for a technical specialist who understands and cares about the positive contribution that large scale woodland creation can make to nature’s recovery and to efforts to reduce and adapt to climate change. This role will implement and support monitoring arrangements for The Wildlife Trusts’ UK Temperate Rainforest programme and at the Wildlife Trusts’ Rothbury Estate in Northumberland. You will be organised and motivated with excellent analytical and project delivery skills, including an understanding of different ecological, social and land-management monitoring approaches, as well as an interest in evidence relating to woodlands, biodiversity and climate change adaptation. Key to this role will be familiarity with the collection, processing and storage of ecological data and the use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) in its analysis, sharing and communication.

Duties and Responsibilites: 

Involving people affected by sarcoma

As our director of digital and information security, you will lead our digital risk and resilience team and programme in order to help build resistance and resilience among the people and movements challenging unaccountable power.

Your focus in this senior role at this crucial time will be on leadership, strategy, growth, and culture, with specific responsibility for our digital risk and resilience programme, internal information security, and tech transformation. Your responsibilities will include:

Lead our digital risk and resilience programme

1. Manage the design and delivery of our digital and information security support, including:
   • Coordinate the digital security mentoring, accompaniment, and capacity sharing we deliver to at-risk activists and low-resource civil society organisations referred through our rapid response mechanism.
   • Oversee the professional information security consultancy and advisory services we provide to high-profile nonprofit and foundation clients.

2. Lead a team of digital and information security professionals and technologists, including:

Our fundraising activities are designed to help tackle the isolation and other difficulties that are faced by those living with a rare and serious condition. The first line of support 

As a small charity representing an ultra rare condition, the people we support and the people who support us through fundraising are often one and the same.

The Aplastic Anaemia Trust is the only charity who publish information about aplastic anaemia for patients and families. You will post booklets to patients and to hospitals, heading to the post office twice a week to fulfil orders. Aplastic anaemia is a rare and life-threatening condition caused by the bone marrow not functioning properly. 

In people with aplastic anaemia, the bone marrow fails to produce enough of all three types of blood cells – red, white and platelets. 

Aplastic anaemia treatment is very similar to the treatment someone might have for leukaemia - but because it's so rare, families often don't have access to the same information and support. 

The Aplastic Anaemia Trust is the only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting people affected by aplastic anaemia and funding research into this rare form of bone marrow failure.

Main purpose of the job

The role exists to ensure that the Students’ Union operates as a democratic organisation and that the student voice is heard and a part of everything we do. The position will:

• Manage, review and promote the Student Representative structure
• Develop robust mechanisms for gaining student feedback in order to fulfil the
• Students’ Union’s key objective of effective representation.
• Lead on elections for our Full Time Officer team.
• Work closely with the University as well as internal SU staff and student leaders.
• Oversee the work of our independent and impartial advice service.

Lead on academic representation

• To manage, develop, promote and review student representative schemes across the SU structures in partnership with UOG colleagues.
• To liaise with the relevant University staff in matters of student representation and ensure administrative processes are effective.
• To devise and deliver student representative training in a manner which is accessible to all students.
• To manage, develop and promote SU feedback tools (both online and in-person alongside wider student voice activities and events.
• To ensure that feedback from all sources is analysed through a student focused lens.
• To work with student leaders and ensure actions developed from feedback is taking place where appropriate.
• To regularly formally report on feedback received through SU channels to university stakeholders and relevant committees.
• To lead on the production of key SU research and reports as necessary (including but not limited to government/sector led consultations) and support team members to produce other research as required.
• To develop and deliver reports for internal audiences based on data, insight and student voice.
• To act as a key support staff member in University meeting alongside elected student leaders providing support and briefings as necessary.
• Support career staff and student leaders to negotiate actions and decisions during University change projects.

Support and develop our democratic functions

• To effectively encourage student engagement with democracy.
• To oversee all election processes and act as Deputy Returning Officer for SU
• elections.
• To stay informed of local, national and international student experience developments in order to advise the elected student leaders.
• To act as the lead staff member to the Annual General Meeting of students and SU Council meetings.
• To assist in the review and updating of SU Governance documents.
• To support and advise elected Officers on their student-led campaign activity (also known as priority campaigns)

Advice and advocacy leadership

• To have responsibility for the independent SU Advice Service.
• To design and deliver improvements to the developing service which may include the
• building of triage support, referrals or innovative ways of work with other agencies
• To ensure that service standards for the operation of the independent SU Advice Service are monitored and upheld at all times.
• To ensure the SU Advice Service is delivered in an actively inclusive manner making its services accessible for all of our members.
• To ensure best practise is followed in the storage and use of sensitive information held by the SU Advice Service in line with GDPR and any other relevant data legislation.
• To ensure that the work of the SU Advice team links well with student representatives and the campaigning elements of UoGSU to make best use of service data trends.
• To act as an advocate for the service within the UOG community and beyond. This will include the production of reports to develop funding streams for the service.

To lead an ambitious and dynamic fundraising team of twelve. to drive increased
fundraising performance across a range of income streams. The post holder will lead
the development and delivery of an ambitious and data driven fundraising strategy
to successfully deliver Weston Park Cancer Charity’s vision.

Leadership
• Champion fundraising across the organisation.
• Be an inspiring ambassador for Weston Park Cancer Charity and ensure this
is reflected in the strategies, outputs, and behaviour of the fundraising team.
• Actively contribute to leading Weston Park Cancer Charity as a member of
the Leadership Team.
• Work closely with the Leadership Team to ensure that appropriate processes
and systems are in place across the organisation, including delivery against
KPIs.
• Attend and actively participate in relevant Board Committee meetings
providing updates, necessary reports, and feedback on the charity’s
fundraising.
• Lead cross-organisational projects in line with organisational strategy and
direction.
• Build strong working relationships with colleagues across the organisation at
all levels, adopting and encouraging a collaborative working approach.
• Keep abreast of, understand, clarify, and implement new or changes in
relevant thinking and legislation, especially those directly affecting
fundraising.
Monitor and manage risk in accordance with the charity’s risk management
policy.
Fundraising
• Lead the development and delivery of an ambitious and data driven
fundraising strategy across a range of income streams to successfully deliver
the charity’s vision.
• Build and inspire a high-performing and results-oriented Fundraising Team
focused on delivering sustainable income to maintain and build on recent
organisational growth.

Ensure that fundraising is supported by appropriate business/activity plans,
and sound financial plans and budgets; and that performance is regularly
monitored and evaluated against plans and budgets.
• Set, monitor, and deliver annual income and expenditure targets in line with
our ambitious plan to grow income.
• Foster a culture of ambition and innovation and support the team to
research, develop, and implement new fundraising approaches to recruit
new donor groups across all income streams.
• Drive change and implement new ways of working across fundraising and
the wider organisation in support of fundraising effectiveness.
• Manage relationships with key supporters and stakeholders and attend
meetings and networking events to unlock new opportunities.
• Strengthen and build on existing supporter relationships, ensuring that all
supporters receive a first-class experience.
• Support the team to develop professional and engaging fundraising
materials including fundraising propositions, applications, proposals, appeals,
pitches, and reports.
• Take overall responsibility for fundraising compliance and ensure that in all
relevant areas, the charity complies with the law, regulation, and stakeholder
and contractual obligations with third parties.
• Collaborate with the Data Manager to maintain oversight of the supporter
database to ensure integrity, legal compliance, and generation of appropriate
insight to support delivery of income growth.

Fundraising Development
• Support the Deputy CEO’s leadership of the charity’s multi-year major
fundraising appeal.
• Work with the Legacy and In Memory Fundraising Manger to deliver and
implement a legacy pipeline and growth in In-Memory giving income.
• Work with the Individual Giving Fundraising Manager to deliver and
implement a strategy which prioritises both the retention and acquisition of
new donors, enhances the use of digital products, platforms, and channels
and delivers the highest standard of supporter care and donor stewardship.
• Lead the fundraising team to focus on deepening and strengthening existing
relationships and building a strong pipeline of new prospects to deliver multiyear
funding from major donors, high profile supporters, trusts, foundations,
and companies.
• Champion the adoption and use of Raisers Edge NXT CRM to effectively
support data-driven decision making and relationship management to
generate supporter insights in support of increased fundraising.
Brand and Marketing
• Working in collaboration with the Deputy CEO, Marketing Manager and
external agencies in the development and delivery of an integrated
marketing and communications strategy that is driven by audience insight.

• Foster a strong working relationship between the fundraising and marketing
team to inspire high-performance and results-oriented marketing.
• Build a community of supporters by delivering a seamless supporter journey
that promotes the charity’s work and delivers greater income generation.
• Empower the fundraising team to successfully deploy our brand.
• Work in partnership with the Marketing Manager to ensure content is up to
date, factually accurate and to manage reputational risk.
People Management
• Create a high-performing team that is ambitious and passionate about
Weston Park Cancer Charity’s vision.
• Provide line management to direct reports, setting, and monitoring
individual performance objectives and motivating the team to be innovative
and professional in its thinking and delivery.
• Ensure all fundraising staff receive consistent and motivating direction and
