This is an exciting opportunity to shape a new senior role within our organisation. The Interim Head of Research and Campaigns will lead our Research function and advocacy efforts, ensuring that evidence-based insights drive our campaigns, policy work, and public engagement.
Recently kicking off our new ‘Creating Positive Change Together’ strategy, coproduced by over 130 staff, volunteers, clients and partners, Groundswell has ambitious plans around influencing more change and amplifying voices to promote healthier lives and a better future for anyone who has experienced homelessness. This role directly aligns with these strategic plans, to refine and use innovative participatory research centring lived experience, share and amplify insight from people with experience of homelessness, and increase our campaigning activities to change systems and break down the barriers that stand in people’s way to a healthier life and more hopeful future.
This role has been created on an interim basis to assess its impact and effectiveness, with a key focus on reviewing the priorities, progression and support of our Research Team and making recommendations for the future regarding this new role. The role will sit within the wider Participation, Progression and Creating Change team.
We anticipate that some form of Head of Research & Campaigning role will continue beyond this 12-month period, and this interim position will very much shape and inform that longer term role.

We’re seeking an experience leader to join us as our Head of Product and manage our Medical Technology portfolio, which spans clinical and healthcare solutions, research platforms, and health insight products. This portfolio is delivered through a bi-modal approach—a blend of agile product development and structured project delivery—encompassing build, buy, and partner strategies.
About the role
As our Head of Product, you’ll:
- Own and evolve the Medical Technology product portfolio, ensuring alignment with BHF’s Medical and Technology strategies.
- Lead product strategy and execution across multiple disciplines, and product portfolio.
- Collaborate closely with senior stakeholders in the Medical Directorate to shape and deliver products that support BHF’s mission and medical objectives.
- Be responsible for prioritisation, customer value delivery, communication, scheduling, resourcing, and financial oversight across the portfolio.
- Operate as a key member of the Technology Senior Leadership Team, contributing to strategic planning and cross-functional leadership under the guidance of the Director of Technology and Chief Technology Officer.

Working arrangements
Please note This is a 12-month fixed term contract, covering family leave, and we'll be looking for candidates to be able to join us as soon as possible.

You’ll bring:
- Proven experience in bi-modal product and portfolio delivery, ideally within a similarly complex organisation.
- A commercial mindset and strategic thinking capabilities, with a track record of shaping and delivering product strategies.
- Existing Head of knowledge and strong leadership skills, able to manage multi-disciplinary teams and influence senior stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of customer needs, market trends, and emerging technologies in health and research.
- Proficiency in agile methodologies (Agile), product ownership, and translating user insights into actionable product requirements.

One-to-one delivery:
· Deliver a wide range of interventions, predominantly one to ones, embedding in a culturally informed and multi-agency approach to domestic abuse in the area.
· Ensure delivery is in accordance with tasks outlined in the RISE Domestic Abuse Perpetrator manual and process mapping.
· Adhere to relevant CIFA and other manuals and deliver programme sessions to ensure the integrity of delivery, which is overseen by the Advanced Practitioner and Team Leader.
- Apply specialised materials to support your delivery to racialised and marginalised communities.
Be responsible and accountable for working with Advanced Practitioner, Domestic Abuse safety advice and line manager to ensure risk is reviewed on a weekly basis.
•
Practitioners will comply with the appropriate audit standards when working with perpetrators in line with RESPECT or HMPPS’s requirements.
•
Use motivational interviewing techniques and strength-based approaches in building a range of therapeutic skills to engage with service users to address their abusive behaviour.
•
Encourage and facilitate learning with participants on 1.-2-1 or group setting, including proactively working to elicit behavioural change and acceptance of their behaviour towards their partner, or ex- partner.
•
Work closely with other professionals to ensure appropriate steps are taken to protect where there is an imminent risk to another person. Apply RISE’s escalation procedures.
•
Be personally accountable for the completion of assessments, mid-way reports, and End of Intervention reports, and ensure they are to a high standard.
•
Provide support and consultancy to other professionals to ensure appropriateness of referrals and improve understanding on domestic abuse.
•
Ensure effective planning for the delivery of each intervention with a co-practitioner (if groupwork) in advance of the session.
•
Participate in and pass the necessary training to be able to deliver all interventions.
•
Assist or lead on the delivery of training courses.
•
Create and maintain an effective partnership working with statutory, private, and voluntary agencies to address the issue of domestic abuse.
•
Work with families and extended family members to tackle abuse within the home.
•
Where appropriate, apply pre-session motivational or Deniers sessions prior to attendance on the main course or groupwork intervention.
Integrating the Safety Support Service:
•
Liaise and engage closely with the Domestic Abuse Safety Advisor to increase the safety of partners, ex-partners and children of the servicer user to manage the risk and develop treatment goals.
•
Prior to delivering of Domestic Abuse Interventions, liaise and share information with RISE Domestic Abuse Safety Officers to ensure an integrated and culturally sensitive approach is applied to risk management.
•
Attend monthly risk review meetings with Domestic Abuse Safety Advisor and Senior practitioners to ensure effective risk management procedures are always applied.
Recording and administrative tasks:
•
Ensure timely and accurate recording of all relevant data (attendance, feedback, mid-way and end of intervention reports) using systems provided and in line with performance standards.
•
Maintain an accurate audit trail of all relevant communication with partner organisations involved.
•
Complete specialist risk and vulnerability assessments, and reports as per templates provided.
•
Ensure completion of pre and post questionnaires in line with RISE’s Social Impact strategy.

About the Programme
Building on the success of previous cohorts, NHS England is funding new opportunities starting September 2025.
This three-year programme offers:

Course structure and requirements
The National Curriculum for High Intensity Psychotherapeutic Counselling within NHS Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression outlines the full details of the course structure. To summarise, the following outlines the key training requirements:
· A 1-year core psychotherapeutic counselling foundation level training, which also introduces the chosen NHS Talking Therapies modality. Following sign off for readiness, trainees can begin to practice at West London Centre for Counselling with people with mild to moderate depression
· Followed by, a 2-year post-graduate diploma (PGDip) in psychotherapeutic counselling (minimum 120 credits at Level 7)
· A minimum of 450 supervised client hours gained within a NHS Talking Therapies service
· A minimum of 450 training hours (skills and theory)
· A minimum of 50 personal therapy hours
· A minimum of 90 minutes of training supervision to every six hours of client work (or the equivalent for group supervision), or 90 minutes per week if they have completed less than six hours of client work in the week
· NHS Talking Therapy services will be responsible for supervision on site, including oversight of case management, clinical governance and management supervision in line with the supervision requirements of the NHS Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression manual.
· An average of two to three days per week of clinical practice in NHS Talking Therapies services
· Individual accreditation (professional registration) with a professional body in line with the NHS Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression manual (see the manual for more details)
