About the role:
This role is home based, but will include some travel nationally, and some overnight stays.
As a Peer Support Coordinator you will: -
Manage a number of Peer Support volunteers who have lived experience of bereavement through homicide. You will support them to use their experience to help others who are also bereaved. This will involve monthly supervisions and regular communication to ensure they are up to date with service procedures and developments.
You will have experience of working in a trauma-informed way, with empathy and compassion. You will have good personal resilience, and be able to make effective use of supervisions to manage your wellbeing.
You will have a passion for using digital technology to make support accessible for people. You will take the lead on maintaining our secure online chat room by working with a group of volunteer supporters. You will also be key in the planning and organisation of our online support groups. Strong digital skills and enthusiasm for digital working is essential.
You will need: -
Knowledge of the impact of bereavement through homicide or the psychological impact of significant trauma resulting from a distressing event
Proven ability to work digitally in creative and appropriate ways to engage with service users and/or peer supporters
Confidence in using Microsoft Word, basic Excel and PowerPoint, and the ability to use client databases
Ability to work on own initiative with good time management skills, prioritise work load, and make use of clinical supervision

RFEA are looking for a highly motivated self-starter with knowledge of the Armed Forces and Ex-Services charity network and the ability to understand the challenges more vulnerable veterans must overcome, particularly those who have entered the Criminal Justice System. This person will be home based (ideally in the North Yorkshire and North East area) travelling extensively around the region to provide face to face support to veterans within their home locations and partner organisations premises.
The successful applicant for this role will have a track record of delivering high quality results, with a strong beneficiary focus and be capable of working independently to targets and deadlines. Strong communication, IT and organisational skills are essential along with mentoring and coaching. Experience & knowledge of the criminal justice system, local government agencies and the ability to develop a network of contacts are also required, along with a clean driving licence.
Specific Responsibilities
Engagement
- Support the National Nova Manager to create and maintain strong working relationships with referring organisations in North Yorkshire and North East Area, including the Police and NHS Liaison and Diversion.
- Receive details of referrals from the Nova Client Advisors, or directly. If referrals are received directly share information with the Nova Client Advisors.
- Engage with veterans face-to-face for the initial visit and as necessary throughout their engagement with Project Nova, following the Case Management Guidance, RFEA Policies and the Project Nova Procedures.
- Register each Nova Veteran’s details on the CRM and obtain consent to share their data with organisations in the support network and any further information required by the Project Nova registration.
- Undertake a comprehensive needs assessment with each Nova Veteran.
Case Management
- Provide emotional support to veterans through regular contact whilst they are engaged with Project Nova.
- Establish a care coordination plan with each Nova Veteran that provides for support from within RFEA and Walking with the Wounded and with the organisations in the Nova area support Network.
- Work with families to ensure their effective participation in the Criminal Justice System, with other statutory services and with the support network.
- Keep clear records for each case on the CRM.
- Record the veterans journey on Outcome Star
- Ensure confidentiality, the family is a separate case to the veteran, who is also supported by Project Nova.
- When the Nova Veteran is ready, develop their employability and suitable opportunities for employment either, directly using RFEA employability tools and working with local employers or, through the wider RFEA or Walking With The Wounded.
- Project Nova is an active intervention. Close cases once the progress of Nova Veterans has reached its full potential, identifying long term social contact, formal or informal, in every case.

Essential Competencies

Education Project Manager role responsibilities:
- You’ll develop and manage the 1-3 year Education Growth plan in England and Wales based on detailed scoping and feedback from teams within YHA, from customers, stakeholders and based on intel’ from the market. The plan will be reviewed annually with agreement from the Executive team; you will ensure that deadlines and budget expectations within it are met.

As a Nova Client Advisor you will be hard working, meticulous to detail and conscientious. Working on behalf of the RFEA and Walking With The Wounded Partnership, the principle role will be to provide central registration, tracking and a help desk function for Project Nova.
Project Nova is a support programme for Veterans identified in Police Custody; it is focussed on early intervention, support and diversion at point of arrest in order to prevent re-offending and a potential prison sentence. Project Nova is jointly delivered by RFEA and WWTW and working in partnership with NHS Liaison and Diversion Teams and Police Custody suites.
The ideal applicants for this position will be self-starters with a strong customer focus, excellent telephone manner and be capable of working within a large team and on their own initiative. Excellent communication skills, IT literacy, keyboard skills and interpersonal skills are essential.
Principal Responsibilities
Engagement
- Receive referrals of Nova Veterans (veterans in contact with the Police, in Nova areas, either because they have been arrested or because they are working with the Police as they are at risk of arrest).
- Undertake search for Nova veterans where contact details are missing following referral including use of social media.
- Establish first contact with referred Veterans.
- Support the Nova Team Leaders and Case Managers to engage with veterans.
- Register Nova Veterans on the CRM system.
Support Network Referrals
- Manage referrals for Nova Veterans to organisations in the Support Network, including diary management and reminder calls.
Tracking and Follow-up
- Contact Nova Veterans who are in the support network following referral.
- Report any issues or problems that the tracking reveals.
- Follow up Nova Veterans at 3 months and 6 months after case closure.
- Provide accurate and responsive telephone, text, social media and email 'helpdesk’ support to Nova Clients and other stakeholders.
- Record all interactions with Clients and other Nova stakeholders.
Ideally applicants should be NVQ 3/4 qualified in Information Advice and Guidance, however, appropriate training will be given.
The successful candidate will be required to work 35 hours per week. Normal working hours will be on a shift pattern between 8.00 am and 8.00 pm Monday to Fridays inclusive. In addition there will be regular Saturday shifts between 8.00 am to 1:30 pm.
The role is offered initially on a one year fixed term contract, but with options to extend and possibly become permanent. A competitive salary package of £20,100 depending on qualifications and experience. Job satisfaction is guaranteed.

Job Purpose:
· To provide refuge cover overnight and ensure the safety and security of the residents and refuge building, including admitting and settling in new residents.
Duties and Responsibilities
Administration:
· To work within BSWA’s administrative and financial systems.
· To ensure that adequate records are kept for all service users.
· To keep accurate records of financial transitions in line with BSWA’s procedures.
· To ensure that Health and Safety records are kept up to date.
· To keep inventories of all refuge contents.
Communication:
· To ensure that all staff team members are aware of any matters that are relevant to the welfare and security of the refuge, staff, volunteers and service users by:
a) maintaining BSWA communication records
b) following safety procedures
c) carrying out risk assessments in conjunction with your line manager
d) attending appropriate team and project meetings
· To attend training relevant to the post in agreement with your line manager.
· To attend support and supervision sessions with your line manager.
Premises and Equipment:
· To ensure that the appropriate agreements related to tenancies are completed.
· To ensure that house rules and fire safety procedures are read and understood by new tenants and that all residents comply with them.
· To carry out health and safety checks to ensure the building is secure at all times, maximising the safety of residents and staff.
· To prepare rooms for new residents, ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements.
· To ensure the refuge is clean and tidy overnight
· To ensure that the refuge revenue is collected by completing housing benefit forms and all personal contributions are collected on a weekly basis, in advance.
· To report to your line manager any difficulties in relation to the collection of rent and other charges.
Support Work:
· Devise and implement appropriate methods of communication with women and children living in refuge, in agreement with your line manager.
· To take out of hours referrals, including an initial risk assessment
· To welcome and settle women and children into the refuge, familiarising them with the building.
· To respond to emergency situations arising within the refuge out of hours, including during the sleep-in period.
General:
· To maintain the confidentiality of the women, young people and children using the service.
· To maintain confidentiality in all matters relating to the organisation.
· To offer an equal service to all women and children regardless of age, class, culture, language, race, religion and sexual orientation, adhering to BSWA’s framework for equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice.
· To adhere to Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures, and Adult Safeguarding procedures throughout.
· To ensure the efficient use of resources at all times.
· To work within BSWA policies and procedures and demonstrate a commitment to the values and ethos of BSWA.
· To participate in the development and annual appraisal of a personal individual development plan with the line manager.
· To undertake any other duties required by BSWA, which may arise incidentally, develop, or be assigned commensurate with the post.
