Job description
Project Worker for the Manchester Missing Service

Permanent contract until 31st March - with potential to extend to June

37 hours per week

£26,269.74 per annum / pro rata (plus allowances)

Location - Manchester

The Children's Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We're there for children, every step of the way.

This role sits within our youth impact domain in our Manchester Missing Service. This is an impactful, and rewarding role, where you will be part of a supportive team, who supports young people in the care system.

TYPE OF PERSON YOU'RE LOOKING FOR/ WHAT'S EXPECTED OF THEM

We are currently looking for an empathetic practitioners, who can build trusting relationships with young people, to join our dynamic, ambitious team.

A key part of this role will be your ability to:

-To complete Missing from Care Return Interviews with children and young people.

-Assess needs and risk, providing short term support

-Take specific responsibility for direct work with referred children and young people and manage own caseload

-To co-work interventions with colleagues from the multi-disciplinary team and those in other agencies

-To ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed and supervised appropriately

-To work with children and your people to enable them to have a voice and influence in our work.

-To actively work within a non-judgmental, anti-oppressive framework and value cultural diversity.

-To collect data and maintain records to a high professional standard and according to policies and guidance.

-To contribute to reports regularly to partners highlighting key data, trends, gaps and other significant lessons.

-To ensure work is undertaken in line with corporate policies and procedures e.g. safeguarding, administration and record management, data protection, consent and confidentiality.

-To actively participate in supervisions, team meetings and develop/evolve the work of the Service to meet changing needs.

-To actively work within a non-judgmental, anti-oppressive framework and value cultural diversity

-To support team members, providing advice and guidance and share skills/experience

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

In order to be successful in this role, you must have:

-Negotiation, facilitation and advocacy skills.

-Ability to communicate with a wide range of children and young people, families, colleagues and partner agencies.

-Assessment and evaluation skills.

-Accurate recording skills.

-IT skills in Microsoft Office .

-Ability to work on own initiative and to reflect on own practice and performance
