We currently have one 30 hour post available. We require a Social Worker to provide high quality social work in our schools across the Diocese of Salford according to each school’s formal agreement.

You will work directly with children and young people, their parents, carers and schools in order to further the child’s welfare and provide the interventions necessary to enable them to use their learning opportunities to the full. You must be able to provide a non-judgemental, caring and confidential environment throughout this work to ensure the issues are addressed in an appropriate manner for all those involved.

Job Summary 

Please note this is a part time temporary role, working between 21-28 hours per week on a one year contract. The pro rata salary for hours worked is between £14,145 to £21,527 per year. 

The role will involve providing Youth Engagement activities to trans and non-binary 18–25-year-olds who are facing homelessness or living in a hostile environment. This is an important part of our work supporting trans and non-binary young people into safe accommodation and work or education, supporting them to formulate and achieve their own life plans and preventing future homelessness.

Our Youth Engagement programme provides opportunities for young people accessing our services to:

Project Manager (Support Worker): 1-1 support for young people at risk – 35 hours/week (full-time)

In this role you will provide 1-1 intensive support to a caseload young people who are identified as being at risk of offending or have already had some contact with the justice system (e.g. the police). You will provide face-to-face support to each young person, in their local community, to help them develop confidence, aspirations, and a pro-social mindset. Key to this will be helping them to recognise their strengths and capabilities, consider positive lifestyle choices, and create an action plan to help them move forward to a brighter future.

Project Manager (Course Tutor): “For My Future” delivery for young people – 14 hours/week (part-time)

“For My Future” is a bespoke 6-week course designed in 2019 specifically for people in the justice system. Focusing on both personal skills and practical ones (CVs, applications, interviews), the course is delivered either in person or online to small, single-sex cohorts over a 6-week period. To succeed in this role, you will have experience of supporting people in group scenarios and be confident presenting both in person and online. Groups will need to be carefully managed to ensure each young person gets the best experience and can benefit from the course.

Women in Prison is a national, women-led, feminist organisation. Job Purpose:

WomenMATTA delivers support services to women in Manchester and Trafford who are in contact with, or at risk of being in contact with, the criminal justice system. This includes one to one advice, advocacy, practical and emotional support, and group interventions.

This position will provide strategic oversight and operational management to all WomenMATTA services delivered through hubs across multiple sites in Manchester and Trafford, ensuring quality standards are consistently met, staff are effectively managed, partnerships are established and maintained, and budgets are appropriately managed.

Key Responsibility Areas:

1. Lead on the operational management and strategic oversight of WomenMATTA; ensuring high quality, trauma informed, and gender responsive services are delivered to vulnerable and marginalized women in contact with, or at risk of being in contact with, the criminal justice system.
2. Provide effective leadership to the WomenMATTA team, fostering a positive and supportive culture.
3. Monitor case management systems to ensure accurate and timely data recording, aligning with contract KPIs and WIP policies.
4. Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders, such as the Probation and local authority leads to ensure effective service delivery.

In October 2022 Salford City Council commissioned Salford CVS to undertake research into the strengths of the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector as part of their Joint Needs and Strengths Assessment.

Every three years since 2008, Salford CVS leads on State of the VCSE Sector research in Salford and also across Greater Manchester. Working with other local infrastructure organisations, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the VCSE sector. Our last research report was published in 2021 and we have started planning for the research to be conducted this year.

In August 2023 we further developed our VCSE sector research and insight work with the commencement of our Salford 99 longitudinal study. This research project is designed to understand the issues affecting the VCSE sector in Salford and aims to track 99 VCSE organisations every six months for a three-year period, so that we gain ‘live’ insight in between our three-yearly State of the VCSE sector large research project. Alongside this work we conduct a Pulse Check survey with a variety of VCSE organisations to get a snapshot of what is changing for them each quarter.

This exciting VCS Research and Insight role involves a combination of VCSE engagement and insight work across Salford.

We provide open access and targeted play and youth work activities. Our after-school adventure play provision is Ofsted registered and provides activities for 6-13 year olds. Our youth provision engages with young people aged 11+ after school and during the evenings, in centres and on the streets.

Service Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Service Manager (known internally as Project Leader) to lead the Anti-Social Behaviour Service team in Devon and Cornwall, working 37.5 hours a week.

Position: 5547 Specialist Service Manager (Project Leader)

Location: Homebased (Devon/Cornwall)

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours. Monday- Friday

Contract: Fixed Term until the 31st May 2025

Salary: £29,930 per annum (FTE £29,580 per annum plus £350 per annum Homeworking Allowance)

The Role

As a Project Lead for the ASB team you will be:

• Managing a small team of ASB caseworkers including performance management, monitoring and support
• Responsible for allocating cases within the team and analysing statistics and data in order to monitor daily caseloads against resources and look for trends/ pattern of behaviour
• Working with the Operations Manager to ensure delivery of the business plan and associated outcomes
• Responsible for capturing data and information to ensure the work of the team is outcome based and evidenced
• The subject matter expert for ASB within the service
• With key partners, developing mechanisms for identifying and referring those affected by ongoing and persistent ASB incidents and crimes, including those not engaged in criminal or civil law processes
• Completing DSO training to prioritise the safety of service users and ensure compliance with safeguarding policy
• Leading on delivery of training to local agencies, organisations and bodies to represent the service and increase knowledge and understanding of issues related to the ASB
• Contributing to and attending monitoring meetings with funders/commissioners and providing reporting when required
• Playing a lead role in developing VS’s ASB work at both local and national levels
• When the service requires, holding a small caseload providing high quality support to service users in line with VS policies and operating procedures.

The role is home-based within Devon and Cornwall and therefore is open to applicants who both live in this area and have access to an appropriately confidential space in which to work.  Regular travel within working hours will be expected across Devon and Cornwall to fulfil the role and travel expenses are paid.  Core service hours are between 9am – 5pm, with the expectation to flex to need where required, managed within flexible working arrangements.

About You

You will need:

• As this role involves regular travel across Devon and Cornwall and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement
• Experience of managing a team
• An understanding of confidentiality and safe working practice in accordance with safeguarding legislation, General Data Protection Regulation and other legal requirements
• Experience of effective delivery of services in the voluntary or statutory sector including complex case management and maintaining case management records
• The ability to build effective working relationships across internal and external stakeholders and work directly with in statutory, voluntary or multi agency settings
• High personal resilience to manage demands of working with ASB
• Competent IT and administrative skills including the use of Microsoft Office packages
• The ability to engage with vulnerable service users.
