About the role:
As a Project Worker – Complex Needs, you’ll be at the heart of Single Homeless Project's (SHP) mission to end homelessness in London, working within our short-stay accommodation services that offer safety, stability, and a fresh start for people rebuilding their lives. Each day you’ll work alongside clients who have experienced homelessness and are navigating challenges such as substance use, mental health issues, trauma and physical health concerns. About you:
- Experience of working or supporting vulnerable people, rough sleepers or people with mental health, physical health or substance use support needs.
- A non-judgemental approach to working with people facing multi-disadvantages and the skill to promote a strengths-based approach to case work and person-centred engagement.

Single Homeless Project (SHP) and Islington Council are proud to introduce St. John’s Mansions - a brand-new, purpose-built accommodation service that will provide safe, high-quality housing for individuals experiencing homelessness and facing multiple exclusion. This innovative project is backed by the GLA’s Single Homelessness Accommodation Programme (SHAP) 2022–2025, and represents a bold step forward in tackling homelessness across North London. SHP are building a dynamic, compassionate, and forward-thinking team to bring this vision to life.
St. John’s Mansions will offer 19 beautifully finished self-contained studio flats, designed to support residents in their journey from rough sleeping and emergency accommodation to independent living. With a stay of up to 24 months, residents will receive tailored, high-intensity support to help them build the skills and confidence needed to thrive independently.
The service will operate 24/7, with a welcoming reception and dedicated staff & clients spaces to enable both structured interventions and spontaneous, meaningful engagement. SHP will be working not only within Islington but in partnership with five North London boroughs - Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, and Westminster. This is more than just housing – it is a bridge to a better future. In this role, you’ll work closely with adults living in our accommodation, building trusting relationships and supporting them to take positive steps towards independence. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small but growing community organisation, comprising nine paid staff and a network of 50 volunteers. As an A10 Project Worker, you will offer advice and support to our service users from EU A10 countries, including Polish speakers, on a range of presenting needs that have led to their homelessness, including but not limited to housing advice, EU Settled Status matters, benefit enquiries and health-related matters.

Faith in Action Merton Homelessness Project (FIA) has been serving the Merton community for over 20 years. We offer a twice-weekly Drop-In for the homeless and vulnerably housed in the London Borough of Merton. On Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the year, we offer advice and support on a range of homelessness issues.
We provide a safe space where those in our community who are struggling to get by are welcomed, provided with breakfast, hot drinks, a two-course cooked lunch, the chance to take a shower and do their laundry, charge their phone, and access laptops to connect with family or look for work.
In 2022, FIA merged with the Merton Winter Night Shelter (WNS), which provides 14 emergency bed spaces to homeless adults for 16 weeks of the year. FIA's Trustees have overall responsibility for the WNS, with its day-to-day operation overseen by a dedicated WNS team.

The Manna Day Centre is a drop-in Centre for homeless and vulnerably housed single men and women. It is run by a team of project workers, under the Director, who are responsible for its smooth operation. Basic Services offered include food, showers, clothing, housing & welfare advice, medical care, and access to laptops. The Centre opens to service users 7 days a week, 8.30am– 1.30pm. The working week for this post is Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 4.00pm each day.

Job Purpose
To support the manager and deliver on the home and settle services across two hospitals, supporting the wider team, and provide leadership when necessary. You will work in collaboration with AUKEL, the hospitals, and other community health and social care colleagues.
The service supports people returning home after a stay in hospital, helping them to settle back at home, regain confidence and support with some practical tasks, e.g. shopping/cleaning. You will manage referrals, carry out assessments, and with the Manager, allocate service users to Discharge and Settle Worker caseloads. You will provide direct frontline support and co-ordinate visits to the service users’ home in preparation for their return home, as necessary. You will work collaboratively to lead and manage your team to support the smooth transition from hospital to home for service users. The service is time limited, usually up to 6 weeks, to adjust and settle back in their homes.
Key Tasks
