RFEA are looking for a highly motivated self-starter with knowledge of the Armed Forces and Ex-Services charity network and the ability to understand the challenges more vulnerable veterans must overcome, particularly those who have entered the Criminal Justice System. This person will be home based (ideally in the North Yorkshire and North East area) travelling extensively around the region to provide face to face support to veterans within their home locations and partner organisations premises.

Specific Responsibilities
Engagement
- Support the National Nova Manager to create and maintain strong working relationships with referring organisations in North Yorkshire and North East Area, including the Police and NHS Liaison and Diversion.
- Receive details of referrals from the Nova Client Advisors, or directly. If referrals are received directly share information with the Nova Client Advisors.
- Engage with veterans face-to-face for the initial visit and as necessary throughout their engagement with Project Nova, following the Case Management Guidance, RFEA Policies and the Project Nova Procedures.
- Register each Nova Veteran’s details on the CRM and obtain consent to share their data with organisations in the support network and any further information required by the Project Nova registration.
- Undertake a comprehensive needs assessment with each Nova Veteran.
Case Management
- Provide emotional support to veterans through regular contact whilst they are engaged with Project Nova.
- Establish a care coordination plan with each Nova Veteran that provides for support from within RFEA and Walking with the Wounded and with the organisations in the Nova area support Network.
- Work with families to ensure their effective participation in the Criminal Justice System, with other statutory services and with the support network.
- Keep clear records for each case on the CRM.
- Record the veterans journey on Outcome Star
- Ensure confidentiality, the family is a separate case to the veteran, who is also supported by Project Nova.
- When the Nova Veteran is ready, develop their employability and suitable opportunities for employment either, directly using RFEA employability tools and working with local employers or, through the wider RFEA or Walking With The Wounded.
- Project Nova is an active intervention. Close cases once the progress of Nova Veterans has reached its full potential, identifying long term social contact, formal or informal, in every case.

Purpose of the role
The purpose of this role is to be the lead project manager on our Adult Social Action projects, mainly within Ipswich. This will involve empowering and supporting volunteers and adults from various backgrounds and communities to carry out engagement activities. This includes volunteer training, managing a micro shop and creating workshops for a diverse range of adults with different support needs. It also involves the recruitment, deployment, and supervision of sessional workers, such as counsellors and creative therapists. The two projects currently on Adult Social Action are:
Perspectives:
This is a partnership project with Health Outreach Ipswich, a health centre which provides GP services for marginalised communities, including newly arrived asylum-seekers, the Roma community and people experiencing homelessness. The purpose of the partnership is to provide opportunities for people from these communities to engage in social action and volunteering.
Survival Stories: An inter-generational project which supports adults with symptoms of severe mental illness to share their survival strategies with young people. This is achieved through a therapeutic pathway which supports project participants to produce creative works. The project specifically targets adults with a BAME identity and those who are aged 65 and above as these communities tend to be under-represented in mainstream mental health services.
The post-holder will also contribute to the wider work of our regional team, which involves empowering communities to grow their resilience and organically find solutions to the challenges they face with the end aim of engaging them into other community and volunteering activities.
This post will involve face-to-face interaction with volunteers and members of the public and will predominately be office based.

About the Role
The NHS Cadets Project aims to attract and develop young people, preparing them to sustain themselves in health volunteering opportunities. Through a 36 week programme, we will be helping young people to not only gain new skills and knowledge but to get hands on experience in the NHS.
We aim to specifically widen access for 14 to 18-year-olds who come from groups which have not traditionally entered health volunteering, such as marginalised young people, those in care, not in education, employment or training or from ethnic minority backgrounds. These are split into two age programmes; 14 - 16 Foundation and 16 - 18 Advanced.
As Youth Support Worker, you will assist with planning and delivering the NHS Cadets programme to young people and you’ll help create a safe, inclusive and open environment where young people can learn important life skills to prepare them for health volunteering.

The Refugee Council is one of the leading organisations in the UK working with asylum seekers and refugees. Our operational teams based in various locations in England provide advice and assistance across a wide range of issues, including helping asylum seekers through the complexities of the asylum system, addressing issues of destitution and assisting refugees and people seeking asylum to access key services including housing, welfare benefits, health, education and employment. Our teams work with relevant agencies including the Home Office, Refugee Community Organisations, Local Authorities, Legal Service Providers, Housing Providers, Health Institutions, Job Centre Plus and other mainstream service providers.
Context and Purpose of the Job
The resettlement team provides advice and support for resettled refugees to help them access services and mainstream provision, and establish community links. Working closely with local stakeholders and in partnership with other voluntary sector agencies running similar services across the UK, the Refugee Council resettlement team promotes both the integration and independence of this group.
The Refugee Council has agreed to work in partnership with Migration Yorkshire and Local Authorities across Yorkshire and Humberside to deliver the regional Resettlement programmes.
We will be working with Ukraine nationals who have arrived under the Homes for Ukraine programme and their hosts, who provide accommodation for a minimum of 6 months across the area. The resettlement area team will provide integration support for 12 months, including welfare benefits, health, employment, housing advice, safeguarding, mediation and community links.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To provide a safe and welcoming environment for Ukrainian refugees ensuring that standards are maintained, monitored and that the service meets all statutory and other requirements.
- To assess need for interpretation, taking into consideration complexity of information or advice.
- To assist refugees who may be in a confused or distressed state in understanding systems in the UK and making appropriate referrals to health and/or mental health support.
- To provide advice and support to refugees on statutory, voluntary and mainstream services, Welfare benefits, education (including ESOL), health services, housing and employment.

Education Project Manager skills and experience:
- Experience of delivering high-impact education and/or youth work projects
- Qualified Teacher or Youth Worker (would consider equivalent by experience) and have a good understanding of contemporary education and/or youth work evidence and practice

Education Project Manager role responsibilities:
- You’ll develop and manage the 1-3 year Education Growth plan in England and Wales based on detailed scoping and feedback from teams within YHA, from customers, stakeholders and based on intel’ from the market. The plan will be reviewed annually with agreement from the Executive team; you will ensure that deadlines and budget expectations within it are met.
- You will be primary point of contact for teams within YHA for advice and guidance on matters to do with delivery of the Education Growth Plan and represent YHA at external events as required.
- Under your supervision, the effective delivery of the project will establish YHA as exemplar of outdoor education (OE) as part of our wider youth work.
- You will support the development of new products / experiences for young people at YHA based on feedback from those in education including participants, teachers, staff and key stakeholder groups.
- You’ll improve the quality of the experience education groups have through feedback and performance measures, working with the hostel, central and operations teams.
- You’ll develop our impact and evaluation framework for education groups to evidence the impact that YHA experiences have on young people. This will provide tools and develop expertise in YHA, building both capacity to measure and to grow our evidence base.
- You will monitor developments in the external education market, such as curriculum changes and recommend YHA’s response to these as appropriate in the context of the growth plan.
