Job description

The Porch day centre is seeking to recruit a full-time Project Worker

Salary: £24.000  

Hours: 37.5 hrs per week

The Porch is a Queens Award Charity that has been delivering vital services to the homeless and vulnerably housed in Oxfordshire for over 35 years. 

The Porch is a small organization with big ambitions on positive outcomes for its members (service users) which can only be achieved through the support and dedication of the dynamic staff and voluntary team. We are looking for the right candidates that will compliment this team. 

This is a challenging role for individuals who are enthusiastic in helping others to bring about positive life changes. The post will provide opportunities to learn and develop new skills in a supportive, positive and professional environment.

Holiday Entitlement: 23 Days annual holiday increasing to 25 days after 5 years, plus 8 public holidays

The job role will be subject to a 6-month probationary period

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 8am-4pm with the possibility of working alternative Saturdays.

Reporting to The Porch Centre Manager, the post holder will be responsible for supporting the effective establishment and successful delivery of the project outcomes, including:  

  • Being part of supporting homeless and vulnerably housed people through the current pandemic by providing a takeaway food service, this will include some kitchen/catering work.
  • Managing a caseload of active members under the direction and guidance of the centre manager, offering dedicated support in tackling their obstacles and help sustain their progression.  
  • Providing support to members as they present at the centre, to be able to respond to the variety of needs that our members present with
  • Represent The Porch professionally by engaging positively and proactively with partner agencies to assist with progress clients’, as well as to champion the organisation and its vision.

The post holder must demonstrate their ability to commit to The Porch’s approach of working; adopting a client-centred, multi-agency, partnership working approach, in order to promote our members' ability to live independently.

Ideally, the successful candidate should have at least two years’ experience working with vulnerable adults. They will need to multi-task and be outgoing, energetic and creative.
