The charity’s staff and budget has grown significantly in the last five years. In addition to this role, the current team consists of an Executive Director, Deputy Director, Senior Policy & Campaign Lead, Senior Advocacy Adviser, Senior Communications Advisor, and Senior Policy Researcher. We anticipate that a Senior Fundraiser and a Legal Researcher will join the team in the next few months. 

What we are looking for

We are looking to recruit an experienced individual with a strong background in financial management, strategic planning and operational management, to play a central role within our small but dynamic team. The role involves helping the organisation implement our strategic plan and ensure our financial sustainability, as well as developing and overseeing the smooth running of our internal systems and processes, including our governance.

This is a busy and varied role which involves working closely with the Executive Director and other senior staff, leading on all aspects of financial management, governance and HR, line managing Spotlight’s senior fundraiser, and helping with operational delivery and administration. 

We are looking for an all-rounder with excellent financial skills, who will be able to support the implementation of Spotlight’s future growth and organisational development, ensuring we have in place the right policies and processes, help us meet our donors’ requirements, and trouble-shoot operational issues for our team.

Key responsibilities:

The Head of Finance and Operations will:

• Ensure that senior management and the Board can make strategic decisions on budgeting and organisational development by providing strong advice on finance and governance

• Maintain effective budgeting and financial management processes, manage our restricted and unrestricted funding, lead on the year-end accounts and ensure that we meet our statutory reporting requirements

• Line manage Spotlight’s senior fundraiser and manage relationships with operational consultants (bookkeeper / payroll provider, IT provider and HR consultant)

• Lead on the financial aspects of grant management including writing and monitoring project budgets, optimising grant terms and conditions for Spotlight, and contributing to our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning processes

• Support operational implementation across the organisation, including smooth day to day management of the administrative needs of the team

• With the support of the HR consultant, ensure that key aspects of HR such as recruitment, induction, appraisals, staff development and pay reviews are conducted effectively and that Spotlight has in place and implements appropriate people policies

• Ensure we meet our obligations as a charitable company, and facilitate the effective governance of the organisation through close liaison with the Board and management and administration of Board affairs

Person specification - Essential:

• Previous work experience in a finance and operations management role, and an ability to apply it to a small charity like Spotlight

• Demonstrable ability to produce appropriate organisational (£700k+) and project-level budgets, provide strategic financial analysis and advice, and oversee the meeting of statutory reporting requirements 

• Clear ability to manage and make the most of grant opportunities, including optimising grant application budgets, and managing restricted and unrestricted funds

• Demonstrable ability to provide wide-ranging operational support including preparing and managing contracts

• Experience of working closely with a Board on governance and strategic delivery

• Proven track record of working across a range of finance and operations tasks in a busy and fast-moving environment

As AWN’s Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser, you will be at the heart of our mission – unlocking vital funding for primarily Muslim-led organisations that are often overlooked by mainstream grantmakers. You won’t just write compelling, high-quality bids; you’ll also support and upskill others by delivering targeted training on how to write effective bid applications – sharing practical tips, proven techniques, and insider insights to help small organisations gain confidence in applying for funding.

You’ll be comfortable delivering engaging workshops, speaking to groups with varying levels of experience, and occasionally sharing insights with funders and stakeholders to help build mutual understanding and stronger relationships. But this frenetic media operation must have rock-solid operations support behind it.  It needs a highly competent, confident, organised and efficient individual who supports the SMC’s mission but loves running the operations behind the scenes.  The successful candidate will be a calm, self-sufficient problem solver who makes the charity run smoothly and who takes satisfaction from ensuring that the team of energetic, dynamic press officers can make a difference to science in the media every day.

The Head of Operations and Governance is a key member of senior staff.  You will be either a practised operations specialist looking for a new challenge or someone with relevant experience looking to step up to their first role leading operations.  In this role, you will:

• Be responsible for financial management, fundraising admin, preparation of annual accounts and bookkeeping
• Support the CEO in fundraising initiatives and project admin
• Provide the operational underpinning for the Centre ensuring the smooth running of IT, events, contracts and all office systems

Job Purpose

The finance team is a core part of our Operations Directorate, and although we’re a small team we have a huge impact on the effectiveness of our organisation. The team provides support and guidance to all staff members on how to process invoices, expenses, and generally manage their budgets effectively. The main purpose of the Finance Officer role is to provide key support to the finance team with our finance processes, supporting staff members across the organisation, helping with any queries on a day-to-day basis, as well as supporting our members and suppliers with queries. The Finance Officer ensures all financial transactions are processed in accordance with BSR’s procedures and processes and in line with data protection regulations.

Main Responsibilities

Purchase Ledger 

• Receive all supplier invoices (including member expenses), checking correct finance codes with relevant nominal, department, project, VAT and fund codes are on all invoices, and that the necessary authorisation is present 
• Scan and file all finance related documents (e.g. bank statements)  
• Set up fortnightly supplier payment runs for review by the Finance Manager 

 Sales Ledger 

• Work with budget holders and project leads to produce sales invoices  
• Liaise with budget holders to ensure correct coding of all invoices (nominal, department, project, VAT, and fund codes) 
• Credit Control – dealing with customer queries and chasing for payments fortnightly 

Other Finance Responsibilities 

• Manage monthly credit card process including posting in Dext and reconciliation in Xero  
• Assist the Finance Manager with preparing for year end and audit fieldwork 
• Reconcile purchase ledger payments with the bank transactions

We’re looking for TWO motivated and detail-oriented Research Officers to support the Association’s research funding activities and award portfolio.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a bold and ambitious research strategy that puts stroke survivors at the centre.

Position: CE376 Research officer (two posts)

Location: Home-based, UK, Nationwide. However, occasional travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work-related meetings)

The Role

Ivy Rock are supporting King’s College London on the search for an experienced and proactive Senior Finance Systems Analyst to support and develop the enterprise finance system (Unit4 Business World), ensuring it underpins financial management across the institution.

Working within the Finance Systems Team, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining system integrity, resolving operational issues, driving process improvement, and enabling smarter use of data for financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure daily system integrity, troubleshoot issues, and liaise with IT and vendors (Unit4)
• Provide system support and training to Finance users and Business Partners
• Drive continuous improvement of processes and reporting within the finance systems landscape
• Lead and support on business analysis activities (e.g. process mapping, data analysis)
• Manage and develop a Finance Systems Analyst, supporting team capability and development
• Support transformation projects and contribute to enhancing financial data quality

About You:

• You will bring a mix of system expertise, analytical skill, and a passion for service excellence. The ideal candidate will have:
• Solid experience working at a Senior Analyst level in a finance systems environment
• Strong SQL and report writing skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Desirable: experience with Unit4 Business World, prior work in the university sector, and project/process management exposure

We will be building our brand, diversifying our income streams and increasing our donors and giving profile. You will manage a small fundraising team and play an important role on our senior management team. You will be experienced in winning large trust and foundation and statutory sector grants, as well as having knowledge around diversifying funds in a not-for-profit context.

This new role is an exciting opportunity to support the growth of Family Fund’s community and volunteer fundraising, enabling more families raising a disabled or seriously ill child to access the help they need.

As a key member of the fundraising team, you will be instrumental in expanding our reach within communities, inspiring individuals, groups, and local businesses to get involved and raise vital funds.

The role

As our Community and Volunteering Fundraiser, you’ll take the lead on growing our community fundraising income within a defined region. Through proactive outreach, you will build relationships with supporters, volunteers, and local organisations empowering them to fundraise on our behalf.

You’ll deliver a mix of supporter recruitment, stewardship and event coordination. From championing local partnerships and speaking at community events, to helping individuals turn their ideas into successful fundraisers, you will be the local contact for Family Fund in your region.

Working closely with our fundraising and marketing teams, you’ll adapt and promote campaigns that resonate locally, driving participation and long-term engagement. A natural relationship builder, you’ll also support and grow our network of volunteers to maximise regional impact.

About you  

You’ll be passionate about making a difference, with experience in community fundraising, volunteer coordination, or a similar engagement-focused role. You’ll bring strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire supporters from all walks of life. 

Organised and results-driven, you’ll manage multiple projects effectively, balancing supporter care with meeting fundraising targets. Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team, you’ll be confident representing Family Fund in your community and beyond.
