Our Educational Services and Events Teams are in a period of rapid growth and are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual with an interest in education and events to join us in this new role.

The Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) is the world’s longest-established public health organisation. Reporting to the Educational Services Manager, you will be a key player in the Educational Services and Events teams. You will support the delivery of a wide range of events and training for our members and learners. The successful candidate will learn all facets of training administration and events delivery. Excellent organisation and communication skills are essential.
This role is split between training and events. The training portion of the work will be supporting our wide range of in person and online events, such as webinars, member events, in person and online conferences, and specialised courses. For the educational services part of the role, you will be administering our training and digital learning systems and supporting the team as they develop, design, and deliver an ever-growing range of educational products and services. Day to day, the role will cover a wide range of administrative and customer service functions. Events coordination, online/hybrid events, training development, and project coordination are all potential learning opportunities within this role.

A skilled marketing professional to join our team and help us improve our brand awareness and reach our target audiences. The Active Wellbeing Society (TAWS) is a community benefit society and cooperative working with communities to identify, mitigate and remove barriers that prevent them from living active and connected lives.

In 2024, TAWS was given the opportunity pilot a Surplus Hub Project at Birmingham Wholesale Market, where edible waste food destined for anaerobic digestion can be diverted to human consumption. To purpose of this role is to maximise the amount of surplus food available to the Food Justice Network groups via the Birmingham Wholesale Markets.
Food Redistribution Manager:
The Food Justice Network is a network of around 300 independent partner organisations, all of who are providing support across the city. FJN Partners offer a range of services from foodbanks to community cafes, to community pantries and warm spaces, all delivering vital support to some of Birmingham's most vulnerable citizens.
Your role will be the sourcing and procuring farming surplus and collective buying of fresh produce for the Food Justice Network. Part of this opportunity will be facilitating the set-up of a city-wide network to make surplus food redistribution more coordinated and effective.
There is already a significant amount of surplus food redistributed across the city and lots of work going on in terms of reducing waste in businesses but we know that sometimes unexpected surplus food arises and not every food business is plugged in to the surplus food network.
Alongside the core of the role, you will also be managing two to three people who you will be working in conjunction with but on separate projects.
This will provide less reasons for businesses to waste food with a strong, well connected and promoted network.

As part of your role, you will:
- Negotiate collective purchasing of fresh produce to reduce food waste.
- Build relationships with growers to redistribute food through the Food Justice Network and beyond, while identifying and improving local surplus food donation processes.
- Coordinate surplus food collection and collaborate with the Food Justice Network Engagement Officer for effective distribution.
- Partner with Xcess, a national surplus food network, to oversee haulage of surplus food into Birmingham.
- Support the development of a city-wide network to improve coordination collaboration and efficiency in surplus food redistribution.
- Work closely in partnership with and provide cover for the Surplus Food Lead at the Markets.
- Produce comms and improve relationships with potential local sources of surplus food in Birmingham.
- Lead, support, and develop a team of three, conducting regular 1:1s and performance reviews in line with company values.
- Manage workloads and resource planning to ensure team efficiency and delivery against departmental goals.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Finance
· Prepare financial management information including regular cash flow forecasts, reports, budgets, grant claims and management accounts for project managers, CEO, Board of Trustees and funders
· Ensure all statutory financial and other records, compliances and related inspections are met on time and records kept with regard to PAYE, NI, VAT, Companies House, Charities Commission, insurance, pension provision, audit requirements and annual reports
· Working closely with the CEO, prepare project and annual budgets, liaising with relevant staff
· Provide support and guidance to all budget holders for the effective management of budgets
· Maintain all financial systems and records for the organisation, including financial administration relating to general ledger, audit trails, Theatre Tax Relief, banking, petty cash management, staff expense claims and credit control
Building & Operations
· Ensure appropriate licensing and insurance is in place
· Organise the supply of utilities to Emmanuel Hall
· Manage delivery of IT tech support contract and others as required
· Management of contractors and suppliers e.g. cleaner, electrician, waste collection
· Management of supplies necessary for smooth running of the building e.g. hand towels, stationery, cleaning products
· Management of general maintenance
Health & Safety
· Support the CEO in creating and implementing the Health & Safety Policy
· Co-ordinate Health & Safety administration, including monitoring, reporting and training
· Ensure H&S information is communicated to all staff, project staff, users and visitors as appropriate
· Undertake training and responsibilities such as Deputy Safeguarding Officer, first aider etc as required
Governance
· Provide an effective Company Secretary function
· Organise Board and sub-committee meetings, co-ordinating, minuting and drafting reports as required
· Support the Board to ensure governance and Charity Commission requirements are met
Human Resources
· Provide effective and efficient human resource systems to support the delivery of the organisation’s objectives, including administering payroll, managing pension schemes and monitoring hours and absence etc
· Contribute to pay strategy working closely with the CEO
· Issue contracts for all project staff
· Keep up to date with all relevant employment legislation
· Responsible for personnel related paperwork, including project staff allowances, holiday pay, and preparing payslips
Team Responsibilities

TERMS & CONDITIONS
Salary £30,000 pro rata,

The post is for three days (24 hours) a week. However, sometimes we’ll need you to work flexibly to meet the needs of the programme of activity – including occasional evening and weekend work. Equally, we’re happy to discuss flexible ways of working to accommodate caring responsibilities etc.
You’ll be based at our home, Emmanuel Hall, but we’re open to a hybrid working pattern.
You’ll be entitled to 28 days annual leave pro-rata, including bank holidays, as well as other statutory entitlements such as sick leave and pension contributions.

About the Role
Donkey Welfare Advisers are professionals in the field of donkey and mule welfare. They play a key front line role in the work of the sanctuary: responding to donkeys in need, supporting donkeys in the community, growing and managing a high quality rehoming scheme, and acting as an ambassador for the charity at all times.
Your principal duties and responsibilities will include:

Working Conditions
The primary locations for this role will be Cambridge Science Centre's Head Office at 44 Clifton Road, Cambridge, CB1 7ED (assigned desk or workspace) and the Cambridge Science Centre at Trinity Centre, Cambridge Science Park, CB4 0FN (hotdesking model).
Working one weekend every three weeks, depending on Centre capacity. CSC plans rotas at least 4 weeks in advance to avoid consecutive weekend commitment where possible to do so.
In addition, there will be frequent travel (primarily driving with a company or hire vehicle) to the semi-permanent centre (Inspire Wisbech Centre, Wisbech, PE13 1AR) and, on occasion a variety of locations across the East of England, including schools and community venues, which will include occasional overnight stays.
