Project Manager – Ringing the Changes, St Thomas Clapton

St Thomas Clapton is a warm, inclusive, and growing church in the heart of Upper Clapton, Hackney. A Grade II listed building and category A on Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Register, the church has recently embarked on a visionary heritage and engagement initiative, Ringing the Changes. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of this National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported project, focused on urgent repairs, sustainable development, building resilience, and community engagement.
About the Role
As Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of the Ringing the Changes project, ensuring all outcomes are met on time, within budget, and in line with NLHF guidance. You will support the PCC and wider team in coordinating a diverse work programme, including urgent (temporary) repairs to the roof, a sustainability study, heritage engagement activities, and long-term business planning. Working closely with the PCC, consultants, and the Heritage Fund, you will play a pivotal role in revitalising this historic church and connecting its mission to its vibrant local community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as the main point of contact between the PCC, consultant team, and the Heritage Fund
- Managing the project plan, risk register, budget, and reporting requirements
- Procuring and coordinating a multi-disciplinary project team (QS, Business Planner, Architect, Evaluator)
- Overseeing the delivery of activity strands including heritage engagement, sustainability feasibility study, business planning and fundraising strategy
- Supporting the delivery and evaluation of community activities, including an after-school club, local research project, and Windrush performance
- Convening monthly team meetings and submitting regular reports to the PCC and funders
- Promoting the project locally through press and stakeholder engagement
About You
You will bring energy, structure, and vision to this exciting heritage-led initiative. You will have:
- A strong track record of project management within the heritage and community sectors, ideally including NLHF-funded projects
- Experience working with churches or faith-based organisations
- Excellent organisational and communication skills

- Oversee the entire life cycle of selected R-ITI modules marked for redevelopment, from establishing SME groups to review and update content, to working with learning technology colleagues to produce and publish them on time and within budget on RCR’s LMS.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project goals and objectives and provide support to the working groups whilst they redevelop the modules.

Centre Operations Management

Customer Service
- Act as a point of contact for tenants, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.

About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to continue their career, within an organisation with real potential to progress into service management or specialist roles. Based within Single Homeless Project's (SHP) Islington Complex Needs Accommodation Service, you will work closely with the Regional Services Manager and a multi-disciplinary team to deliver intensive, person-centred support to clients at our Ashley Road project. This is a high-impact role, designed to support individuals with multiple and complex needs, including mental and physical health challenges, substance use, and a history of offending. You will support and empower our clients as they move from crisis towards stability, independence, and meaningful engagement in the community.
As a Project Worker, you will have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of some of the most marginalised people in our society. You will play a vital role in helping clients sustain accommodation, access services, and develop the skills and confidence needed to take control of their lives. You will work in close partnership with external agencies and professionals to deliver coordinated support, while also playing a key part in preventing homelessness and promoting long-term inclusion. The working rota for this post is Monday - Friday, with no weekend shifts. The rota will consist of a mixture of earlies (8am - 3.30pm) & lates (3pm - 10.30pm).

- Ability to manage a caseload and deliver positive outcomes utilising your knowledge of the health, social care and criminal justice sector.
- A flexible, innovative and creative approach to working with a sometimes hard to engage and challenging client group, is also required.

Some of the things you would be responsible for as a Community Manager:
- Responsible for the admission welcome including assess new referrals, interviewing potential Companions, welfare and care of Companions, their integration into the Emmaus Community and the wider community at large, developing a sense of extended family.
- Lead and implement a culture which provides confidentiality, promotes professional boundaries, protects data, and safeguards Companions, Volunteers and staff.
- To manage support relating to Companion’s needs regarding their daily living requirements, physical and mental health, safety and personal development.
- To assist and encourage Companions to move into independent accommodation where appropriate
- Ensure that effective Safeguarding systems are in place and maintained, acting as the organisation’s Designated Safeguarding Person, with delegated responsibility for policy development, implementation, and reporting.
- Working in partnership with the Retail Manager, facilitate, encourage, and support companion engagement and training within the social enterprises to ensure they are viable businesses.
- Assist the Multi Site Property and Facilities Manager in the upkeep and maintenance of the Community, to ensure that it provides a pleasant and comfortable home for the Companions, whilst adhering to health and safety requirements.

Turn2us is a national charity tackling financial insecurity and its structural causes. We work with co-producers and partners to provide people in financial crisis with the means and agency to get back on their feet, build resilience, move forward with their lives and thrive.
Turn2us and its partners have secured £1.5 million from The National Lottery Community Fund to deliver an ambitious and innovative new programme that will support charities in England and Scotland to empower diverse and marginalised communities to respond to climate change and to get their voices heard in environmental policy and media debates.It will focus on Disabled people, those facing financial insecurity and people from ethnic minority communities. These voices are often the least heard from in national and local debates on our environment. This new work aims to change that.
As part of this programme, The National Lottery Community Fund have funded the creation of an Engagement Manager post at Turn2us to work with those facing financial insecurity. The Engagement Manager employed by Turn2us will deliver activity with smaller charities and grassroots organisations supporting those facing financial insecurity that:
- Increases awareness of the impact of environmental change and related policy on different communities
- Listens to people in these communities to find out what actions they want charities and local government to take
- Develops shared local environmental policy priorities and empowers these organisations to advocate directly to local and national policy makers
- Identifies actions that these organisations can take to support communities to respond to climate change, and helps organisations to implement them
- Identifies people with lived experience to receive hands on training in order to act as diverse champions to media and policy makers
They will work closely with Community Engagement Managers employed by Disability Rights UK, and Race Equality Foundation, focussed on reaching organisations supporting Disabled people and people from ethnic minority communities.
We offer flexible working patterns, both in terms of hours and remote working. Please note that all employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 4 days a month on a weekly basis.
