CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
We are looking for an exceptional fundraiser with significant experience in successfully fundraising from trusts and foundations as well as governments.

The Senior Officer – Statutory & Foundations will join a highly collaborative, supportive and ambitious Development Team and will play a key role in sustaining and growing income from trusts & foundations as well as governments. The ideal candidate will be able to work in close collaboration with Senior staff across the organisation to identify and strategize responses to grant opportunities turning complex issues into clear and persuasive proposals. The Senior Officer – Statutory & Foundations will also be responsible for initiating, developing and deepening relationships with a global roster of trusts and foundations in support of TRAFFIC’s strategic priorities, primarily focusing on six-, seven- and eight figure opportunities.

This is a diverse role with key responsibility for the delivery of TRAFFIC’s global fundraising strategy and income streams. Whilst proposal development and writing is central, the role regularly extends to leading, organising and coordinating effort both within TRAFFIC offices and with external partner organisations.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Guides TRAFFIC thematic leads and Programme Offices, including Programme Office Directors, to transform project ideas into compelling funding concepts.
• Manages the development of funding proposals ; from project design, informed by strong logical framework rationale, to providing high quality written content, editorial and process guidance and other areas of technical support e.g. monitoring and evaluation.
• Initiates liaison with colleagues from finance, operations, risk management, research and data, and M&E as needed to ensure their input to proposal content and review.
• Drives efficiencies and improvements to TRAFFIC’s overall fundraising processes and systems at the institutional level (e.g. designs and maintains systems to manage current and past proposals, and maintains Raiser’s Edge database of donors), in collaboration with Development Teamcolleagues.

• Represents TRAFFIC in discussions with potential partners for joint bids, and provides support and advice to these external partners to strengthen bids.
• Represents TRAFFIC in donor meetings and briefing sessions.
• Designs and implements capacity building programmes for TRAFFIC on project design and proposal development, including introduction to project development within TRAFFIC, problem identification and articulation, stakeholder analysis, development of theories of change, monitoring and evaluation frameworks and processes, fundraising communication. Ensures this training is aligned to best practices in project planning across the conservation sector, and coordinated with Communications and Strategy, Programmes and Impact teams.
• Proactively researches, identifies and develop relationships with new prospects, who align to TRAFFIC priorities.
• Provides guidance on donor cultivation and engagement strategies.
• Leads on the development of generic fundraising material which can be multi-purposed for donor or wider publics.
• Advises teams across TRAFFIC as required to ensure the alignment of fundraising activities and program design to TRAFFIC strategic priorities, communications materials, and approaches (such as Evidence to Influence). Provides development input to Pipeline Group (indirectly) and Programme Forum.

REQUIREMENTS

• Project design and proposal writing experience, ideally across a range of international environmental NGOs, and a track record of success with securing at least six-figure grants from different donor sources, including European Commission, Governments, and Trusts and Foundations.
• Strategic, proactive and results focused with excellent organization and planning skills.
• Articulate with persuasive and engaging verbal communication skills and excellent written communication skills (English).
• Similar communication skills in French, Portuguese or Spanish desirable, but not required.
• Robust understanding of best practice for project design, including theory of change and log frames, and best practice approaches (e.g. Conservation Standards).
• Able to take a lead role with the packaging of a complex programme portfolio into language and visuals suitable for conveying TRAFFIC’s work to existing and potential supporters.

Partnering with grantmaking trusts and foundations is fundamental in helping Parkinson’s UK to deliver the impact we want to see for people affected by Parkinson's.

As a Trusts Officer, you will be a part of our dynamic and high performing Major Gifts and Special Events team. We have a well established programme raising circa £5 million a year across the department to fund our vital work but big ambitions to grow that further. 

About the role 

This role is part of the trusts and statutory team of nine. In this role you will coordinate trust fundraising activity within a large portfolio of funders, identifying trusts and foundation prospects and writing high quality proposals and reports in collaboration with supportive colleagues in the team and across the charity. It is a permanent, full time position with an established portfolio of four and five figure trust donors, and the opportunity to grow this significantly in the coming years.

Together with our other Trusts Officer, you’ll oversee the small trusts programme of regular supporters, create tailored approaches to bigger funders in your portfolio, and support other team projects and cultivation events.

What you’ll do:

• Cultivate strong working relationships with a portfolio of trust and foundation supporters increasing their engagement with and support of the charity.

• Maintain an active portfolio of small and mid-sized trust funders, and research new trusts increasing your own portfolio. 

• Create clear and concise proposals and reports for trusts in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland including for project and region-specific funding requests.

• Identify the most appropriate approaches for specific trusts and opportunities to increase giving and secure multi-year gifts, thanking promptly and appropriately.

What you’ll bring:

• Experience of successfully securing four- or five-figure gifts from charitable trusts and foundations and managing a funding portfolio. 

• Ability to work effectively with a range of internal and external people, including trust administrators and trustees, influencing them to support new projects through written proposals, meetings, site visits and calls. 

• Knowledge of the requirements of trust funders, the principles of bid-writing and effective project reporting. 

• Proven ability to organise a busy workload effectively and respond flexibly to requests from your manager.

The All Dressed Up campaign—developed with World Book Day and Rubies Masquerade—confronted the often-overlooked issue of financial exclusion on key celebration days. More than 100,000 free dressing up costumes worth £1.34 million were delivered to children from low-income families. By enabling participation in events like World Book Day, we helped spark imagination, joy, and belonging for children who might otherwise feel left out—boosting self-esteem and supporting a positive connection to learning.Furthermore, helping attract children into school on a day which often sees struggling parents keep their children at home.

Alongside these national campaigns, Parentkind supports families year-round through a growing suite of programmes designed to inform, prepare and empower parents. Our Be School Ready programme offers crucial guidance and confidence to parents preparing their children for the leap into primary education. With a mix of practical advice, developmental tips, and reassurance, through the distribution of 150,000 copies of Be School Ready and an online campaign, it supports families at one of the most formative moments in their child’s life.

We also deliver a wide-ranging series of live expert webinars and parent-friendly resources, covering topics such as managing anxiety, supporting special educational needs, navigating school transitions, and building home-school partnerships. This innovative community-led funding model allowed shoppers to nominate and fund their local schools simply through everyday spending. This campaign has generated £5.78 million for schools during the past twelve months, supporting everything from basic classroom supplies to vital extracurricular programmes and pupil wellbeing initiatives. Also shortlisted for a Business Charity Award, it is already a model for community-driven philanthropy.

In April, we launched our Parent-Friendly Schools Accreditation Programme, designed to formally recognise schools that go above and beyond in fostering positive, inclusive relationships with parents. The accreditation celebrates schools that actively listen to parent voices, make engagement easy and accessible, and embed family partnership in their culture. It is a practical and inspiring tool to drive long-term change in the sector and offers a roadmap for schools wanting to strengthen their community.

Our focus on Policy & Research

Our work is grounded in evidence. Since 2023, we have conducted the UK’s largest annual parent survey: the National Parent Survey. With approaching 6,000 participants providing 130,000 bits of data to provide invaluable insights into the struggles, concerns, hopes and fears of parents. The findings are fed directly into government consultations and have already informed national debates on school funding, attendance, mental health support, SEND provision, and curriculum reform.

In each of the past two years the number of policymakers, educators, parents and researchers accessing the National Parent Survey exceeded seven thousand, and the survey featured in more than two hundred media outlets each year.Excitingly, the Times & Sunday Times are partnering with Parentkind to raise the profile even further in September 2025 and the survey will be launched at a lighthouse event featuring the Secretary of State for Education (Bridget Phillipson), the Ofsted Chief Inspector of Schools (Sir Martyn Oliver), the CEO of Mumsnet (Justine Roberts), the Children’s Commissioner (Dame Rachel De Souza), and our own Chief Executive (Jason Elsom).

Main purpose and scope of this role:

With guidance from the Head of Corporate Partnerships, you will identify, secure, and manage new corporate partnerships to fund Parentkind's mission.

You will build and maintain a new business pipeline to support a sustainable corporate partnerships income stream, targeting a wide range of partnerships (including COTY, corporate grants, commercial and strategic relationships) with regional and national businesses with the capacity to support at a 5,6, and 7-figure level.

You will carry out prospect cultivation, develop tailored proosals and pitches, and manage corporate partner relationships to secure excellent supporter experiences.

By collaborating with key internal stakeholders and securing approirate partnership opportunities, you will enhance support for parents, schools, children and young people.

Duties and key responsibilities 

New Business

• Identify and research prospective corporate partners who align with Parentkind’s mission; complete due diligence and compile reports and partner profiles.
• Planning: proactively plan and drive tactical and timely approaches to potential partners.
• Proposal development: produce high‑quality proposals, applications and pitches to secure financial contributions from corporate partners.
• Lead management: respond promptly to new‑business leads, delivering excellent relationship management from initial contact to formal partnership.
• Resource development: contribute to the development and maintenance of key resources for fundraising activities.
• Community Team contribution: contribute to the Community Team’s fundraising initiatives for PTA members.

Partnership Management

• Account management: oversee and manage relationships with selected corporate partners in Parentkind’s portfolio.
• Partnership planning: create and deliver comprehensive, bespoke plans for each partnership, considering all financial and non‑financial opportunities to generate support and mutual value.
• Regular communications: hold regular meetings with partners to ensure partnership objectives are on track; propose compelling partnership content and campaigns.
• Impact reporting: create compelling reports for partners that demonstrate the impact of their contributions and support renewals.
• Coordination of contributions: coordinate gift‑in‑kind/pro‑bono contributions from partners in collaboration with internal teams.

Relationship Management

• Relationship building: cultivate relationships with prospects, developing tailored engagement strategies and keeping key contacts informed of our work.
• Partnership agreements: negotiate clear, mutually understood and appropriate contracts with new corporate partners.
• Network utilisation: leverage organisational networks for introductions and referrals; collaborate with the Head of Corporate Partnerships on network mapping; identify links to target organisations and engage key stakeholders for introductions, referrals and nominations.
• Representation: represent Parentkind at events and networking opportunities.
• Internal collaboration: foster positive relationships across the organisation, ensuring fundraising activities align with the charity’s needs and priorities.

Managing systems

• CRM management: maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records on Parentkind’s CRM (Salesforce), tracking all corporate partnerships activity.
• Monitoring and reporting: contribute to regular monitoring and reporting on corporate partnerships.
• Process management: manage internal processes related to corporate partnerships, including use of third‑party platforms.
• Record keeping: maintain and communicate detailed records of corporate partnerships activities to inform future planning and strategy.
• Finance processes: ensure all corporate partnerships income is accurately coded, allocated and reconciled in line with agreed finance processes.
• Process improvement: contribute to the development of effective processes and systems for managing corporate fundraising activities.

General responsibilities

• Ensure Data Protection procedures are followed at all times.
• Stay informed on relevant issues, educational policy and legislation affecting key audiences.
• Be flexible within the remit of the post and undertake other duties as reasonably requested by senior leadership.
• Contribute to Fundraising Department planning, reporting and cross‑team projects.

This role leads our corporate partnerships work to achieve income targets, grow the opportunity pipeline and develop successful corporate partnerships.

Corporate donor partnerships and income are a key part of the Foundation’s success and our future strategy. We have ambitious plans to grow grant-making through our current strategic cycle 2025-28. Fundamental to this is growing corporate income by building a strong donor pipeline at target levels. We also aim to strengthen relationships with existing corporate donors to increase retention and grow long-term giving.

As Corporate Partnerships Manager, you will shape and update the corporate donor development strategy and corporate funds plan, working with the Head of Operations and Development, Marketing and Communications Manager and CEO. You will manage key corporate partnerships, engage current and potential corporate supporters, and ensure excellent stewardship throughout. A key focus is to foster a culture of new business development by mobilising whole team support.

The successful candidate will have proven experience securing five- and six-figure corporate partnerships, consistently exceeding ambitious targets. Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to engage a diverse range of stakeholders and produce high-quality content to attract new corporate donors and to demonstrate impact of corporate partnerships. You will need to identify and convert new opportunities while effectively managing long-term relationships. The role also requires strong organisational, analytical, creative, and budgeting skills, along with the ability to prioritise competing demands to drive income growth and maximise opportunities.

About the role

This is a key role within the Philanthropy & Partnerships Team. You will lead the development and delivery of the Trust & Grants Strategy meeting and /or exceeding income targets, support the ongoing development and delivery of strategic objectives and KPIs, ensure strong stewardship of our existing donor relations and prospect new opportunities for funding. You will personally secure income from Trust and Statutory audiences in support of Freedom from Torture’s work across our clinical work, policy and campaigning priorities.

You will manage a committed team of three Trust & Grants Officers and work closely with the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships to implement the fundraising strategy. The Trusts and Grants Team sits within the Philanthropy & Partnership Team in Freedom from Torture’s friendly, creative and ambitious Fundraising & Communications Directorate.

You will represent the organisation externally with funders and work internally with colleagues to identify opportunities for funding, in the preparation of proposals and thereafter, reports. 
 

About you

To be successful in this role you must have demonstrable experience of developing and implementing a plan to grow Trust & Grant income, successfully meeting or exceeding fundraising targets from a variety of funders and experience managing relationships with statutory funders and trust and foundations. You will have experience of managing fundraisers and supporting them to manage their priorities and portfolios. You will have experience of measuring and monitoring income and expenditure, and team performance.

It’s essential that you have excellent communication skills and can build relationships across the organisation to develop strong fundraising ideas and support engagement with senior staff in building relationships with trusts. You will have experience of managing donor funded grants including review of financial information, preparation of donor reports and donor compliance. You must have experience and knowledge of statutory and grant fundraising research tools and grant writing in the UK charity sector.
