The Rugby Portobello Trust (RPT) is a North Kensington charity that has been supporting children, young people and families from all across west London since 1884. Through arts, sport, music, mentoring and support in academics, employment, mental health and wellbeing, we help children and young people in our community to overcome barriers to reach their full potential. We have a team of around 40 staff members and we support more than 1,300 children, young people and families every year. We run services six days per week and we are supported by more than 200 volunteers and 1,500 local funders. You will ensure a clean and welcoming environment for residents, employees and visitors by providing a repairing, maintenance cleaning service in order to keep the various buildings and grounds to the highest standard, whilst minimising the need for external contractors.
To be considered for this role, you will have experience of risk assessment or a health & safety qualification, as well as experience of building cleaning and maintenance, handyperson, plumbing or caretaking duties. You will also have a good understanding of health and safety requirements within a building environment, the ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of people and be able to manage your own workload effectively and under pressure.

Salary range on offer at circa $ 75,000 to 80,000, dependent on location
We are seeking a Business Development Director to join our entrepreneurial team to support:
- The scale-up of pioneering enterprises
- The development of scalable partnerships that enable smallholder farmers to increase their income
- The incubation of new intermediaries and enterprises
The successful candidate will explore opportunities to create new business models and market interventions, as well as providing deep financial and commercial expertise to our Programme team.
Responsibilities include:
- providing business advice and mentoring support to SF strategic partners
- managing grants and contracts
- identifying market failures and opportunities
- developing and managing strategic projects and partnerships
- contributing to the delivery of the annual business plan.
We are looking for someone with substantial experience of working in Africa (or India) with:
- A degree in mechanical engineering
- A background in business or commerce, with a practical understanding of marketing, finance, business development
- Experience and networks in the agriculture sector
- Experience working with complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, including low-income consumers
