As Events and Community Officer, you will be working in the Enterprise Hub team. The Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Hub supports talented entrepreneurs and decision makers to transform breakthrough engineering innovations into disruptive spinouts, startups and scaleups.

Our entrepreneurs benefit from the prestigious national and global network of the Academy’s Fellows and experts. We have delivered 10 years of success, enabling our members to form a powerful, thriving, and supportive community of over 350 innovators. We run four programmes at multiple stages, from ideation to scaleup, for entrepreneurial engineers at different career points. Thanks to our charitable status, we don’t take equity, fees or IP.

The role will be to support, curate and deliver opportunities for a community of UK’s brightest engineering and technology entrepreneurs and business leaders (startups and scale-ups) to enable them to advance their entrepreneurial journeys and to provide them with opportunities to flourish. In joining the Enterprise Hub, the individual will work to support delivery of an ambitious programme of community engagement activities including monthly ecosystem meetups in London, developing new activities for our co-working space and for our communities, supporting our regional teams with the development (and possible delivery) of events, and helping to strengthen our alumni support.

Whilst your research background will give you the essential insight and expertise to contribute widely, this role is where your academic prowess comes to life in real-life deliverables. You will be called upon to support the design and management of research and science communication grants and projects,  to coordinate key meetings and workshops and to support Finance in how we manage cashflow and reporting. 

Throughout you will keep abreast of developments within the fields of air pollution, super pollutants and climate mitigation especially related to science and research, policy development, innovation, technology and impact analyses and portfolio relevant developments. You will never stop learning and developing your deep understanding of this subject and will inevitably become an expert. 

Your experience: 

Beyond your essential research experience in atmospheric and climate science, in particular experience working on black carbon or other super pollutants you will 

• Be able to demonstrate that you think and act strategically

The organisation

Every year in the UK, around 100 children are diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that mostly affects children under five. Neuroblastoma UK is a small national charity dedicated to finding a cure for this life-threatening disease - and is seeking a talented Senior Communications Officer to help us raise awareness and profile. 

For 40 years, we’ve funded leading research to develop new, more effective and kinder treatments for children with neuroblastoma. You’ll be joining us at an exciting time for the charity as look to fund further research projects to help fight childhood cancer and save more young lives, and build our profile across the national media and social media channels, using the support of our celebrity patrons and families. 

The role

The Senior Communications Officer is responsible for press liaison, pitching in case studies and news stories about our research to the national press, building relationships with our celebrity patrons and families and creating content for our social media channels. A key part of the role is supporting the fundraising campaigns by helping to draft relevant copy for email campaigns and calls-to-action on social media. 

The charity has a small team, so everyone helps with thanking and banking, database management and administrative tasks. And this varied role gives plenty of scope to share creative ideas to develop our portfolio of community activities and challenge events, use your strong communication skills to support fundraisers and apply your excellent organisational skills to track impact and outcomes.

The role currently reports to a committed Board of Trustees, many of whom have a personal connection to the cause.

The successful candidate will work with the Head of the Gambling Action Lab (GAL) and the Senior Research Officer to bring together a handful of representatives from financial services firms to explore ways to reduce gambling-related financial harms. They will build and maintain stakeholder relationships and play a key role in facilitating group discussions with financial services representatives. This exciting role will also involve driving and promoting the work and visibility of the GAL, and planning and delivering a programme of events to promote our work.

Missing People’s Policy and Research Team is a small team with a big impact, both within the charity and externally. We aim to create local, regional and national change in the response to missing people. We work in an evidence-based way, centring the experiences of those who have been or are affected by missing. As the Senior Public Affairs Coordinator you will be innovative in finding ways to engage and motivate a wide range of policymakers and politicians to better understand the issues affecting missing people and to make positive change for everyone we support. ABOUT YOU

• You will have previous experience of working in public affairs or a related role;

• building and maintaining relationships with politicians or other policy-makers, including quickly building rapport and establishing trust;

• engaging people in complex issues and motivating them to take action;

• You will have an understanding of political systems across the UK and how to influence policy within those systems;

• knowledge of missing or linked issues, for example, mental health, children living in care, exploitation, homelessness, or children and adult social care;

The City and Guilds of London  Art School is a small, independent Higher Education Institute. It traces its history back to the 1850s and has strong links to a number of City Livery Companies as well as certain Trusts and Foundations and individual donors. We are looking for a motivated, creative, and organised Engagement and Communications Officer to join our team. This role is a unique opportunity for someone with a passion for building a fairer legal system through impactful events, engaging member outreach, and powerful communications. Working alongside the Director of Development and the Head of Communications, this role will work across teams to maintain and strengthen engagement through events, communications and corporate outreach. You will play an integral role in communicating our work as widely as possible and improving and increasing engagement with our supporters, including our members, donors and corporate partners.

The Engagement and Communications Officer will work to maximise income and support for JUSTICE through events (approximately 45% of the role), communications (approximately 30% of the role) and membership (approximately 25% of the role). They will report to the Director of Development and Head of Communications.

We want someone who can learn and grow in this role so if you don’t have every skill listed but are organised, motivated, and interested in our work then we want to hear from you.

The JUSTICE team currently work in a hybrid manner. Staff members have access to office space in London, however, attendance is currently optional. The End Violence Against Women Coalition (EVAW) is looking for a Communications Officer to help drive forward our campaigning to end violence against women in all its forms.

The last few years have seen a huge increase in awareness of violence against women and girls, and support for our work. With this crucial human rights issue on the public and political agenda like never before, now is the time to disrupt the status quo and lay the foundations for a different world. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

EVAW’s communications officer will help inform the public and media stakeholders about violence against women and girls (VAWG), influence narratives about this abuse and inspire change.

Responsibilities include growing our online presence and media profile, creating engaging (audio)visual content and writing accessible and informative press releases, web pieces, social media posts and more.

The postholder will have an eye for design and a finger on the pulse of current trends, with strong written skills, a commitment to accessibility, and an understanding of social change and the UK’s media landscape.

You are likely to have some experience in a communications, media or campaigns context, working on VAWG or another human rights/equalities issue, and will be seeking an opportunity to work in a highly impactful, agile and dynamic feminist organisation.

Whether practical or academic, paid or voluntary, a background in VAWG will of course be an asset. You’ll need to show us you have a good understanding of VAWG, can communicate complex issues with clarity and impact, and are committed to intersectional feminism.
