The role

The research communications and engagement team at Breast Cancer Now makes breast cancer research accessible and engaging to everyone. Its aim is to highlight the value and impact of research and build continued trust and support for the charity.

You'll use your science communication expertise to bring our research to life. You’ll create content covering Breast Cancer Now’s research aims, progress, and achievements for a variety of channels including our social media, website, fundraising and print publications. You’ll work with members of the brand, marketing and communications teams, and digital teams to make sure research content is engaging and drives brand awareness and support.

Primary location of role and hybrid working

This role is primarily based in our Cardiff/Glasgow/London/Sheffield office. However, our hybrid working model allows full-time staff members to work up to 3 days per week at home.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic PR and marketing professional in our London fundraising office to design and deliver creative, multi-channel, integrated fundraising and PR campaigns designed to significantly increase the Hospital’s voluntary income.

The success of this role will be dependent on engaging and building meaningful long-term relationships with both existing and new supporters through effective donor stewardship, attending events, and networking.  

The successful candidate will work in conjunction with a small, dedicated team to provide fundraising, comms, and event support to our community fundraising groups.  

High quality comms and media are going to be central to our plans to go public in a big way in 2024.  Creating high-quality, impactful, and engaging content for multimedia platforms will be key. You’ll be able to identify stories from across the organisation, draw out information and ideas from others, and successfully turn complicated or clinical information into clear, simple, and compelling narratives.  

The role requires a creative thinker with exceptional communication and leadership skills.

Main responsibilities:

Fundraising

· Develop and implement integrated fundraising, marketing and PR campaigns designed to significantly increase the Hospital’s voluntary income.

· Create and promote compelling and engaging content for web, social media, and email – ensuring that all comms have clear goals and outcomes.

· Manage the key relationships with the Guild fundraising Committee and the SOA fundraising committee including comms, marketing, and event support as well as helping to manage the key relationships with the Knights Templar sub-groups, and the County Priory Groups across the UK.  

· To put in place measures for evaluating the effectiveness of all fundraising, PR and marketing activity ensuring robust data collection, analysis procedures, and making suggestions for improvements where required.

· Manage the production of key organisational publications – including, the Jerusalem Scene magazine, Annual Report, Strategic Plan, Annual Leaflet, and other promotional materials.

· To work closely with the Executive Head of UK Office and project partners to deliver a new website, contributing expertise and ideas in regard to its look, feel and functionality.

· Take responsibility for the ongoing management and maintenance of the website, working with external consultants where required to resolve issues.  

· Understand and apply the principles of up-to-date SEO.

· Working with colleagues in Jerusalem to maintain a bank of compelling messages, narratives, and case studies for use across all external communications.

PR & Media

· To actively promote the charity’s fundraising endeavours including drafting all external and internal messaging to both new and existing supporters – e.g. email campaigns, newsletters, invitations, letters, speeches, presentations etc. for senior staff and volunteers.

· Managing press and media opportunities related to SJEHG’s fundraising activities.  

· Cultivate and maintain relationships with press and media, proactively pitching stories to secure media coverage, drafting press releases, media plans, articles, and other materials for SJEHG’s fundraising activities.

· To provide counsel and advice to senior leadership on external and internal messaging, as required.

Other

· To assist with the management of the marketing budget, monitoring expenses, ensuring cost effectiveness, seeking to maximise return on investment.

· To keep accurate records and help ensure effective data management processes across the organisation.

· Collaborate effectively with colleagues and a wide range of individuals and organisations.

· To uphold and enhance the charity’s brand identity through consistent messaging, and visual elements across all communication channels and materials.

· Promote innovation and best-practice in marketing communications, with a strong focus on the external environment and trends.

· Any other tasks as may reasonably be required.

At Ambitious about Autism, we're currently looking for a Policy and Campaigns Officer to join our team on a part time (0.4 FTE) basis.

The postholder will have a track record of influencing policy and an understanding and passion for issues affecting autistic children and young people across a range of areas, including education, employment, health and social care. You'll gather evidence and data that will influence change, using your written and verbal communication skills to engage with a wide range of audiences on our strategic priorities and raise awareness of our work.

You'll engage with autistic children, young people and their families to understand their priorities and embed their needs in our communications and policy work. You'll identify opportunities to communicate AaA's policy position and respond to these appropriately, working closely with the communications team to draft impactful statements, as well as web and social media copy.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Experience of working in a policy role, ideally in a relevant sector.
• Ability to identify appropriate sources, evaluate and analyse data and evidence to provide up-to-date, accurate information.
• Experience of producing high quality policy-related documents, as well as being able to write engaging pieces for a range of audiences.
• Experience of using social and digital media to develop and promote policy work.

Background                                                             

Our 68-year-old charity is one of the most exciting and flexible employers in the charity sector. Main purpose and scope of Role

This role will play key to engaging with and supporting PTAs across the region, as well as a variety of stakeholders such as schools, parent groups, local authorities, potential sponsors or supporters and other organisations as our suite of programmes grows. This role initially focuses on the following, but is subject to change as programmes are launched or evolved:

PTA Programme

• Growing our network of PTAs.
• Supporting PTAs through leadership transition to minimise PTAs closing unnecessarily.
• Organising gatherings of PTAs to enhance the PTA community.
• Providing training and awareness sessions for PTAs.
• Providing community support to PTAs during peak activity periods online or by phone.
• Helping schools establish PTAs and supporting them during their first year through our new PTA Launchpad programme.
• Hosting and co-ordinating virtual webinars/meetings to demonstrate the value of PTA membership and the support available. 

Parent Programme

• Raising awareness of Parentkind’s growing programme of support for parents, directly or indirectly through schools or other partners.
• Building relationships with parent groups to support engagement with our growing suite of parent support opportunities.
• Organising events for parents as part of our Parent Programme.
• Building relationships with regional stakeholders to support Parent Programme activities.

Other Programmes/Services

• Encouraging uptake or (when charged) sales of our broad and growing suite of programmes and services.
• Identifying and engaging with local and regional partners for our range of programmes.
• Feeding into programme design.

Wider Stakeholder Engagement:

• Attending appropriate conferences and educational meetings across the region. 
• Developing relationships with key local authorities and individuals so they advocate our services and the benefits of our programmes
• Developing relationships with MATs so that they can advocate Parentkind and the benefits of its programmes.
• Identify any opportunities for external funding to from LA’s, Companies, or other funders with the support of our fundraising team.

Organisational Effectiveness: 

• Create and implement operational annual plans and schedules to support our regional targets, ensuring that time specific milestones for their delivery are met.
• Regularly report on the health of our campaigns within your region, through identified KPIs and organisational targets.
• Ensure all knowledge and information is recorded, processed and maintained according to good administration practice.

Duties and key responsibilities: 

Content development:

• Work with the Information and Content Manager to research, write, edit and produce new information materials including print publications, web pages, videos, etc.
• Work in line with Sarcoma UK’s information production process, including:
  • Liaise with clinical experts and patient reviewers throughout the content development process
  • Maintain formal systems within the information production process in line with the PIF tick quality mark

Key responsibilities of the MI support officer include:

• Support the delivery of MI and data services to local authorities in East London.
• Provision of a management information helpline service to all stakeholders and service users.

In this role, you will support the development and implementation of Picker's policy influencing strategy to make person centred health and social care a reality for everyone. You will be responsible for monitoring policy and political developments, promoting evidence-based policies to advanced person centred care and building and maintaining relationships within the health policy world. You will leave on the development of policy outputs including briefings, position statements and white papers, working with colleagues to build evidence and articulate Picker's messages.

This role

In this role, you will:

• Develop and maintain a good understanding of key health and social care policy and political developments
• Lead on or assist with a range of high-profile policy projects, including the planning and development of projects, and contributing to analysis, writing and publication.
• Identifying opportunities to contribute to public policy debates in health and social care, using evidence from Picker’s work and from the public domain to provide insightful thought leadership.

• Lead on and assist with written outputs, such as topic-specific briefing papers, website copy, presentations and blog posts to communicate the findings of our work.
• Carry out literature reviews and rapid scans of data and evidence to scope public policy positions on a range of key issues.
• Present evidence and findings (both in writing and orally) about highly complex and sometimes contentious subjects to a wide range of audiences, ensuring an understanding of the subject and issues arising and enabling informed decision making
• Support the drafting of responses to consultations, policy briefings, and other public policy initiatives, including relevant third party publications.
• Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, partners, and collaborators relevant to our policy portfolio, including academic and health and social care policy communities.

You will have:

IPEM is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to form an important part of the team supporting our Professional Knowledge and Innovation Manager to lead on IPEM’s scientific initiatives.

You will be committed to delivering exceptional customer service. You will also need experience of modern IT systems and remote communication tools and be a flexible and willing collaborator. No prior knowledge of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering or innovation is needed, however you must be committed to developing an overall understanding of the sector and sharing that knowledge with members and colleagues. Above all, you will be an enthusiastic supporter of professional knowledge and innovation with a passion for working with people and helping form IPEM’s scientific contributions to our members and to society.

You will be educated to at least A-Level, and preferably above, or have equivalent experience, with strong written and oral communications skills, strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and the flexibility to manage competing priorities.

You will be an important part of a growing professional community and will work with members to understand their current needs and challenges to both equip them with skills they require for future opportunities and challenges and assist the continuing professional development of the workforce.

Job purpose

Part of the Communications and Engagement department, the Senior Policy and Public Affairs Officer is responsible for developing and implementing strategic policy initiatives and engaging with key stakeholders to advance our policy priorities across the four UK nations. Working with colleagues, members and external stakeholders, you will deliver high quality analysis and research, produce evidence-based policy positions and outputs, and employ effective public affairs approaches to influence change on behalf of our members.

Main responsibilities

Strategic planning and reporting

• Contribute to developing, implementing and evaluating policy and public affairs (PPA) strategies, campaigns and plans aligned to member priorities and our wider strategic aims.
• Lead and manage the delivery of specific PPA workstreams, working in partnership with other organisations as needed.
• Monitor and report on performance against organisational and departmental objectives.

Policy development

• Monitor and analyse the external policy, political and parliamentary landscape across the four UK nations to identify influencing opportunities and relevant developments – summarising these for internal audiences.
• Contribute to the design and analysis of member surveys, drafting reports and presenting findings to inform the College’s policy agenda.
• Work with colleagues to research and draft evidence-based policy positions, consultation responses and briefings for politicians, civil servants, NHS and other key decision makers.
• Maintain an accurate evidence library of data and information to support the development of policy.
• Provide policy-related support to relevant committees to enable their effective contribution to the College’s work, including ensuring agreed actions are implemented.

Public affairs

• Build new and strengthen existing relationships with policymakers, government officials, clinicians and other relevant stakeholders across the four UK nations to advance the College’s policy objectives and maintain a thought leadership position within the eye health sector.
• Draft briefings and presentations to support events and senior-level meetings with politicians, civil servants, NHS and other key decision makers.
• Arrange and represent (as appropriate) the College at events, conferences and external stakeholder meetings.
• Build and maintain the College’s stakeholder database, tracking progress and advising on how to engage with different stakeholders.

Communications

• Work closely with the communications team to support the delivery of communications strategies and plans, ensuring the accuracy of policy information contained in College outputs and contributing to our press activities, member magazine, newsletters and website as required.
• Draft, implement and evaluate the impact of strategic engagement plans for policy publications.
• Support the communication of College policy positions internally, including by proposing lines to take for inclusion in our messaging house and assisting in briefing colleagues and volunteers – including the Chief Executive and President – on these.

To undertake other duties as required

• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the College.
• Working outside normal hours and/or overnight stays may be necessary to support the delivery of key organisational events.

Person specification

 Knowledge, qualifications and experience

• University degree or professional qualification in a relevant field such as public policy, political science, public health or similar
• At least three years’ experience of working in a policy, public affairs or advocacy role, preferably within the healthcare sector or a membership organisation
• Experience of devising developing, implementing and evaluating policy/public affairs strategies and/or campaigns
• Experience managing projects and initiatives from conception to implementation
• Experience of conducting policy-relevant research and developing evidence-based policy positions and consultation responses

We are looking for a motivated, creative, and organised Engagement and Communications Officer to join our team. This role is a unique opportunity for someone with a passion for building a fairer legal system through impactful events, engaging member outreach, and powerful communications. Working alongside the Director of Development and the Head of Communications, this role will work across teams to maintain and strengthen engagement through events, communications and corporate outreach. You will play an integral role in communicating our work as widely as possible and improving and increasing engagement with our supporters, including our members, donors and corporate partners.

The Engagement and Communications Officer will work to maximise income and support for JUSTICE through events (approximately 45% of the role), communications (approximately 30% of the role) and membership (approximately 25% of the role). They will report to the Director of Development and Head of Communications.

The JUSTICE team currently work in a hybrid manner. Staff members have access to office space in London, however, attendance is currently optional.
