The post holder will be responsible for developing evidence led scientific communications that help engage new audiences as we aim to reach new people as part of our strategic goals. You will use your science communication expertise to bring our research and scientific information to life for a variety of audiences from people affected by myeloma to health care professionals as well as scientists and researchers.
You will support other teams across Myeloma UK by helping to develop engaging evidence led impactful communications that can be used for appeals, case for support and other activities. You’ll also work with our research and health care professional community to engage and involve them in our communications activities.

The Volunteering Team is a collaborative and supportive team sitting within Shelter’s Equity, Inclusion & Culture Directorate. We are passionate about the positive impacts of volunteering for both individuals and causes and believe volunteers are a vital part of Shelter’s Fight for Home.

About the Role
As a Volunteering Administrator, you will be essential to the coordination of the Volunteering Team’s work in developing a consistent, inclusive and high-quality volunteering offer. This will include managing our busy Mailboxes, processing elements of volunteer recruitment and administrating our volunteer database, Better Impact. You’ll also be supporting volunteer managers through delivering training demonstrations on our database, creating process guides and providing advice. Key responsibilities
Reporting to the Executive Director, you will:

Work on the development of technical frameworks, guidelines, standards, certification or audit processes relevant for implementing regulation for children’s rights in the digital environment at international, EU and UK levels. This includes representing 5Rights in technical meetings and working groups, such as at the IEEE and CEN-CENELEC.

Work to promote and support the uptake of these standards by the tech industry, including by working with industry associations, chambers of commerce and tech companies directly.

Lead our work to gather technical evidence on company compliance with regulation for children in the UK and EU.

Identify cases of non-compliance, develop argumentation and engage with companies and regulators for remedy, with legal support as necessary.

Work to promote compliance, by supporting public accountability for non-compliance and positive visibility of best practice.

Lead our work to raise awareness and stimulate action of industry stakeholders, notably advertisers and investors.

Liaise with technologists and experts around the world, exchanging knowledge and staying up to date on the latest developments, research and emerging issues.

You’ll be a confident and skilled researcher, a clear, fresh thinker, and an excellent writer. Our Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Programme Service aligns with the Respect Standards – a framework for safe, effective, and survivor-focused work with perpetrators of domestic abuse in the UK. Due to specific requirements of the role (in line with Respect Standard B6) we are looking to recruit a male candidate to this post.
The Intervention Worker will be responsible for delivering sessions (group and one to one as may be required) with people who recognise that they are or have been using power and control to abuse their partner, ex-partner or family member and who want to address this behaviour. The Intervention Worker will undertake such sessions in a way that prioritises the safety of those at risk from domestic violence and abuse.
