Role Purpose

We are now looking for an enterprising and ambitious Director to lead the charity into a new chapter. You will join the UK Advocacy and Health Intelligence Department within the Chief Executive’s Directorate. The team is responsible for leading UK strategy development and delivery across advocacy (policy, public affairs, campaigning) and health intelligence, working closely with colleagues across the UK to ensure effective delivery of the strategy in each nation. The department sits in the Chief Executive’s Directorate to ensure driving positive change with and for people with arthritis is at the heart of the organisation.

The Department works closely with colleagues across the charity, including Services, Research and Income and Engagement to ensure we are joined up in our approach to arthritis.

About the role

You will lead and manage projects that support on the development and delivery of a pipeline of insightful Musculoskeletal (MSK) and health data analysis and quantitative research, to better understand the UK population with MSK conditions and to inform the direction of our ambitions, strategy, policy and services work. This includes obtaining, analysing, publishing and presenting MSK epidemiological and health data, and working with others to influence improved quality, coverage and use of MSK health data.

About you

If your knowledge, skills and experience include the following then we’d love to hear from you:

• Demonstrate sound knowledge of epidemiological research methods and health metrics (such as incidence and prevalence)
• Strong experience using of statistical software e.g. R, Stata, SPSS
• Strong experience using NHS and other national health-based datasets, and a good understanding of UK health and social care systems
• Experience of using multiple sets of health-related data and information systems, and large-scale data sets for policy, quality improvement or research purposes
• Experience of using data to improve the understanding of health inequalities and disparities for public health purposes
• Ability to interpret, present and communicate complex data in accessible lay terms, including producing data-rich reports for a range of technical and generalist audiences.
• Project management and organisational ability, including being able to prioritise activities and independently manage own workload that includes multiple concurrent projects.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, and able to work in partnership with people at all levels, demonstrating strong skills in networking and influencing.
• Experience using data to produce infographics or data visualisation.

• To undertake monthly visits to identified homes in accordance with the requirements of the relevant NYAS manager.

These visits will be:

Regulation 44 visits to residential children’s homes, short breaks and secure units.

Regulation 25 visits to residential family centres.

Care Quality Commission visits to residential adult homes.

Care Inspectorate Wales regulation 8 visits to residential children’s homes.

RSS20 visits to residential special schools.

Health and social care standards Scotland residential children’s homes.

Monitoring visits to unregulated provision.

• To undertake all tasks as identified by the relevant NYAS manager, during the visits and thereafter, in order to fulfil all aspects of the role.
• To provide factual reports within set timescales as required by the relevant NYAS manager.

Candidates should have demonstrable knowledge and understanding of regulated services and their inspection frameworks and also knowledge of current legislation and statutory guidance relating to children, young people and adults at risk particularly those in residential care.

Candidates must have experience of working within a social or health care organisation, safeguarding and experience of managing complex relationships across a diverse field, e.g. OFSTED inspectors, social workers, residential care workers and registered managers, health care professionals.

Requirements:

We’re an award-winning charity running local learning centres in the heart of the communities where the young people we support live. Our centres provide a high-impact education programme which includes practical learning support, pastoral care, and motivational and confidence-building activities for young people aged 7-18. Our aim is to enable students from the least advantaged neighbourhoods to realise their ambitions and achieve their wonderful potential.

As the UK’s leading university access organisation, our staff team is helping over 60,000 young people each year at its 46 learning centres and extension projects across England and Scotland, and we plan to scale-up our provision to 50 centres over the coming years.

Our employees are at the heart of the high-quality service that we provide to our young people. We currently have a staff team of around 295 and will be continuing to expand over the coming years.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual who is keen to develop their HR career in the charity sector to join our HR Team. You will play a vital role in supporting the close-knit HR function by carrying out a range of generalist HR administrative duties, keeping our HR systems and records up to date, assisting with the day-to-day support throughout the employee life cycle and providing trusted HR support to staff and managers.

You may have some experience of HR administration (perhaps as part of a wider administrative role) and feel ready to move into a role with more responsibility. This is not essential – we are looking for skills, aptitude and potential. You will be provided with a thorough in-house training programme, and we’ll also provide you with support to complete the CIPD Level 3 qualification upon successful completion of your probationary period.

The role at a glance

Contract: Permanent, full-time
Start date: January 2026 (or as otherwise agreed)
Working hours: 09:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday. We are an organisation with team members at different stages of their career, including many in their first roles: we are committed to nurturing talent and providing a developmental culture for all. Our Head Office team works in-person 4 days per week with 1 day from home. 
Salary: £30,950 (inclusive of £2,700 London contribution)

Eligibility for the role

In order to be eligible for the role, applicants must be able to demonstrate throughout their application that they have:

• The qualities shown on the previous ‘Who are we looking for’ slide (please see attached job description)
• Previous administrative experience, not necessarily in a HR role
• Strong Microsoft Office skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Successful experience of engaging with a range of stakeholders (whether in a paid or voluntary capacity) including building rapport quickly and resolving complex issues effectively and efficiently

Applicants must also:

• Have completed an undergraduate degree to a 2.2 or higher.
• Have achieved a grade C / grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths and English/ achieved National 5s or Standard Grade at Credit level (grades 1-2) in Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Have the right to work in the UK (please note that as a charity we do not have the capacity to sponsor work visas). 

£28,000 - £30,450 per year

Permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) or part-time (minimum 3 days, 22.5 hours)

Hybrid working with regular travel to our London Bridge Office

What the job involves

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Fundraising professional to join our Individual Giving Team, focussing on our mid value programme and assisting with the production and development of campaigns aimed specifically for this audience.

Direct Marketing plays an important role in the organisation’s fundraising and overall corporate strategy, and we have seen a fantastic growth in our mid-value programme to date. We’re looking for a confident and proactive fundraiser to take responsibility for the delivery and development of this audience and further shape the programme.  

As a Direct Marketing Executive, you’ll use a range of channel content to reach and meet the needs of your audience and tailor your approach based on audience insight. 

You’ll deliver timely, targeted, relevant communications to warm mid value audience, to engage them wider with the work of Prostate Cancer UK with the overall aim to increase their life-time value.

With internal and external stakeholders, you’ll project manage direct marketing campaigns in the form of seasonal appeals, email updates, and occasional stewardship events. You’ll consistently review KPIs and make evidence-based choices to help assist with growing the programme and delivering our overall financial target.

What we want from you

We’re looking for a Direct Marketing Executive who has excellent knowledge and experience of working in a fundraising environment is vital, you’ll also be able to demonstrate your knowledge and/or experience of stewarding donors by understanding the importance of meeting their needs.

You’ll possess first class communication skills; a strong team ethic and you will be at ease working with key internal and external stakeholders at all levels. The ability to manage expenditure budgets and projects is also essential, along with proven knowledge of data protection and sector compliance. Knowledge of direct marketing and fundraising law would be advantageous as well as philanthropy experience.

We are all expected to be in the office (SE1 2QN) 4 days a month (pro-rata for part time colleagues) to work with and alongside colleagues in our immediate team and beyond to build connections and strong working relationships.
