Meet your Manager
In this role you will be managed by Sebastien De Menthon who is a Philanthropy Manager and joined ClientEarth in 2022, based in London. Sebastien discovered ClientEarth while studying anthropology and law at university. The high-leverage legal approach to achieve tangible progress on the climate and biodiversity crisis was immediately appealing. Since joining ClientEarth as a Philanthropy Officer, Sebastien has progressed to the Philanthropy Manager position where he supports and oversees two members of the Philanthropy Team. He has found that working in the Philanthropy Team has been a fantastic way to support ClientEarth's mission while learning about the world and developing skills in relationship management and communication.
Main Duties
- Actively manage donor relationships across assigned portfolio of largely UK supporters with first class stewardship and reporting to secure renewals and uplifts of approximately £1m per annum.
- Develop the pipeline of new donors through effective prospect research, network mapping and connecting with new contacts at external and internal events as a representative of ClientEarth
- Support the Philanthropy Manager, Philanthropy Lead for Europe and all the Philanthropy team to create the conditions for success in the European Philanthropy Team. Collaborating with colleagues across Europe inclusively to achieve shared goals, strengthen processes and model ClientEarth’s core values of courage, collaboration, integrity and care
- Keep up to date with fundraising trends and ensure these are worked into internal activities and planning
- Build a strong network of internal relationships across programme teams to facilitate engagement between legal staff and donors

Role requirements
- Experience of providing best practice donor stewardship and relationship development with demonstrable evidence of securing or managing five and six figure gifts (essential)
- Experience of identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospects (essential)
- Experience of raising funds from donors in different geographies (desirable)
- Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve fundraising objectives (essential)
- Ability to represent ClientEarth with a range of external stakeholders both in-person and online (essential)
- An interest and understanding of environmental issues (desirable)

The Role
We are looking for a Supporter Engagement Assistant to join our Supporter Engagement Team to help us build strong and lasting relationships with our charity's supporters and donors.
Reporting to the Supporter Engagement Officer, as Supporter Engagement Assistant you will deliver excellent customer service over the telephone, in written (email and postal) communications and face to face, ensuring that supporters' details are accurately recorded on the CRM database. You will be representing the charity, explaining its purpose, and demonstrating our charity values to donors/supporters, showing appropriate empathy to those who may have cancer or a family member/friend who does.
This role provides a great opportunity to make a real difference to the people of Yorkshire and requires someone with a friendly manner, good team-working skills, great customer service and excellent organisational skills.
Specifically, you will:

Ensure supporter communications are accurate, timely and appropriate to the recipient. This includes following the relevant pathways to process donations, record legacy pledges, update key information so that the communication is tailored and relevant to the individual supporter.

Work alongside the Supporter Engagement Officer and other colleagues to improve the initial welcome journey for newly acquired donors and the onward stewardship of all supporters.

Conduct research and contribute ideas to improve supporter journeys and implement these processes independently.

Update supporter records on the charity’s CRM database to reflect changes in marketing permissions, personal details, the charity's relationship with the supporter (e.g. Volunteer/ Donor etc) and any communications between the supporter and the charity.

Use the CRM database to run supplied data queries to deliver campaigns (e.g. using Mail Merge) and to create and deliver supporter communications, this includes printing and posting letters, sending emails, making updates to supporter records and fulfilling requests for information.

Undertake other duties and take on a lead role in delivering projects and campaigns relevant to the purpose of the role as requested by members of the CRM, Marketing, Fundraising or Research & Impact teams.

Assist the wider Fundraising team at charity run and/or external events to represent the charity, help achieve agreed targets and provide exceptional stewardship to supporters.

Monitor inbound emails and telephone calls to the charity, forwarding to the relevant colleague (if unable to provide a response) or responding and actioning.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will need:

To be ideally educated to A-Level or equivalent level.
-
To have customer service experience in a similar or related role (e.g. telephone/ databases/ office).

To have high computer literacy with comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel and Outlook.

To have previous experience of working with databases (e.g. Access or Raiser's Edge).
-
To be up to date with the requirements of GDPR and confident in adhering to these requirements.

To be up to date with Safeguarding and confident in raising any concerns.

To enjoy delivering excellent customer service and customer/supporter interaction.

To be happy to work independently and ask for support where this is needed but also like to both work with and support colleagues as part of a team working towards a common goal.

To have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to use active listening skills, and write professionally and appropriately for a range of diverse audiences. Has a good grasp of grammar, spelling and of the spoken word.

To have strong organisational skills and performs their work to an extremely high level of accuracy and professionalism, paying close attention to detail.

To be able to present data and information in a way that is helpful and actionable to others.

To be able to manage multiple workstreams, with the ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.

Key Accountabilities
- Responsible for the end-to-end management of the Legacy Marketing Programme, including Gifts in Wills
- In collaboration with the Individual Giving and Philanthropy Manager, develop and evolve the Legacy Marketing Programme, including In Memory and Tribute Fund marketing, in alignment to the Charity’s mission and strategic goals
- Execute and further develop a comprehensive legacy strategy, with a focus on retention and income growth through, tested supporter journeys, digital channels and automation. Planning for journeys to end with a gift in a will
- Optimise and create supporter journeys to increase propensity to give and drive loyalty and consideration among legacy and individual giving prospects
- Responsible for aligning legacy acquisition and retention marketing to the individual giving programme, to maximise uptake and engagement. In conjunction with their manager, work together to develop new ideas and best practices to improve the number of legacy pledges and the income from In Memory fundraising to increase annual gift amounts
- Achieve income targets that support the delivery of fundraising goals aimed at delivering in excess of £3m+ per annum
- Campaign Management: Plan, execute, and evaluate multi-channel fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, email, and social media, to maximize giving. Keep track of results and flag under or over performance in a timely manner

We are excited to announce a new position within our Philanthropy, Engagement and Partnerships (PEP) team. The role of the Donor Officer is to support the development of effective relationships with donors, contributing to ongoing revenue generation for the College.
The role is key front-line fundrasing role and will involve identifying, and delivering new donors, as well as furthering a portfolio of current and past donor relations to secure funding for UWC Atlantic College. You will manage a portfolio of prospects and donors across alumni, parents, and other individuals to cultivate, solicit, and steward financial contributions.
You will hold key relationships with Alumni, parents, external and internal stakeholders, colleagues, and students. The role will also involve collaborating with various colleagues to plan and execute a program of donor-related events.
You will provide strategic contribution which supports UWC Atlantic’s strategies to acheive fundraising goals.
The opportunity is available to be based at UWC Atlantic, St Donats or Hybrid working from the UWC International Officer, 55 New Oxford Street and from home.
