Read for Good’s Grants and Trusts Manager leads on securing high-value income for the national charity from trusts and foundations, typically securing one-off and multi-year grants in the five- to six-figure range. You will research and cultivate prospective funders, produce compelling, tailored proposals, programme reports and manage a strong pipeline of funding opportunities. You will also develop and steward long-term funding relationships that align with our mission and strategy, building on our well established and robust pipeline. In addition to your own portfolio, you will support the wider grants and fundraising team, helping to deliver on team targets, strengthen internal processes, and ensure high-quality reporting and compliance.

This is a key role in the charity’s income generation strategy and will work closely with senior colleagues to shape fundable programmes and plan for long-term sustainability. 

Terms of Employment

Location: Read for Good office based in Nailsworth (due to location, own transport is desirable); we take a flexible approach to working from home

Salary: Circa £35k to £41k (depending on experience)

Hours: 35 hours a week (part-time role will be considered for the right candidate)

Key responsibilities

Income Generation and Fundraising

• Research and develop a strong pipeline of new and existing high-value trusts and grant-making prospects (typically five- and six-figure applications).
• Write compelling, tailored funding proposals that align with funder interests and organisational priorities.
• Manage and track income performance, reporting on progress against individual and team targets.
• Build strong, long-term relationships with funders and secure repeat and multi-year funding in the region of £400K p.a.

Team Management and Development

• Provide support and guidance to the wider Grants team, including freelance support as well as support cross organisational cooperation and team work
• Help co-ordinate workloads and funding pipeline, and ensure high standards across all funding applications and reports.
• Help foster a collaborative team culture and support colleagues’ professional development

We are seeking a results-driven Acquisition Marketing Manager (known at Guide Dogs as Committed Giving Acquisition Campaign Manager) to lead our Acquisition team and manage supporter acquisition across key regular giving fundraising products such as Sponsor a Puppy and Lucky Lottery. In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing and delivering marketing plans to maximise income, meet acquisition targets, and ensure the long-term success of our campaigns.

You’ll manage and execute direct marketing campaigns ensuring they meet income and expenditure goals. You will also line manage and lead a team of Officers and Executives to deliver these campaigns, collaborating with the Committed Giving Product Manager to support their development. Key responsibilities include contributing to the wider fundraising strategy, analysing campaign data to optimise return on investment, and fostering strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams. You will ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and contribute to the continuous improvement of existing products, as well as ideate new propositions for testing. Working as part of a new in-house team, you will use a range of communications and marketing channels to spread key messages among communities and affect behaviours among target demographics. The Dollywood Foundation UK runs Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in the UK, the worlds largest book gifting programme. Over the last 30 years the Imagination Library has delivered nearly 300 million books to children globally. In the UK we support over 60k children a month, delivering them a free book sent to their house every month.

The primary purpose of this new role is to increase registrations for the Imagination Library initially across London. This role will support our Local Programme Partners to reach families with whom they are not currently engaging.

Background

We have a steadfast belief that inspiring a love of reading in children can bring joy, love, and measurable individual, family and societal benefits. We are driven by Dolly Parton’s mantra that you “can’t put enough books into the hands of enough children”.

It is an exciting time for the Dollywood Foundation. We have recently received a new investment to allow us to scale our Imagination Library programme across London. As families across the capital become eligible for free books, we need to make every effort to ensure families know about the programme and sign up.

This role is integral to that plan, working with local authority and community organisations to spread the word about the programme. The role holder will need to be passionate about books and supporting children’s development. They will hold brilliant relationship building skills to engage local communities and overcome any barriers to families enrolling.

We are a remote team with no fixed office. While this role will be based from home, regular travel across London will be required. The role holder will need to be based in London or surrounding areas to allow for the frequent travel.

TIME COMMITMENT AND FLEXIBILITY  

We see this as essentially a full-time role, but we are open to a variety of flexible working arrangements to help the right person achieve a good work/life balance. The expectation is that the Communications Manager will be in the Reading office at least one day a week, with the flexibility to work from home the rest of the time.

SALARY  

The full-time salary for this role will be £28,500 per annum. All salaries are reviewed on an annual basis with any increase made from 1st April.

The appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a six month probationary period, after which there is three months’ written notice period for both parties. Holiday entitlement for full time staff is 28 working days per year including all bank and public holidays. In addition to this we usually close for the period between Christmas Day and New Year.

Position: Governance Officer

Location: Hybrid/Reading (a minimum of one day a week in the office. More office attendance will be needed during probation)

Hours: Full time open to part time with a minimum of 28 hours per week.

About the Role

The Governance Officer provides efficient, proactive and values led governance support to ensure that all governance work is achieved within set time scales.

Duties include
 

• Supporting the Head of Leadership Office & Governance to ensure that the organisation keeps up to date and fulfils all governance and charity requirements whilst promoting, implementing and monitoring good governance policies and procedures;
• Support delivery of organisational compliance with reporting and meeting the regulatory requirements of Companies House and the Charities Commission through maintenance of the organisation’s on-line accounts.
• Planning and arranging the annual schedule of Board and Committee meetings and manage logistical requirements including diary liaison for the meetings;
• Acting as liaison person for Board members (booking hotels, dealing with expense claims,responding to routine queries etc.);
• Administering the whole process of Board & Committee meetings including minute taking and drafting clear, well structured, Board and Committee papers.
