The Team

The Role
As a qualified Careers Adviser, you will be responsible for the daily delivery of Careers Information, Advice, and Guidance to adults on a range of opportunities, including learning, career paths and employment.
As a Careers Adviser you will use your experience of working with people within the community from a variety of backgrounds using various methodologies to empower customers as they seek to overcome barriers to progression and make informed career decisions about their futures.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate their abilities to achieve their goals on an outcome-based contract supporting others to achieve their goals. You will be organised, flexible in your abilities to support the needs of the charity.
From time to time, you will be required to attend CXK Head Office (Ashford, Kent) for meetings, events and other organisational activities.

Minimum Criteria
· IAG qualification at Level 4 or above

Essential Criteria
· Experience of working towards and achieving targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) with regular reviews, to meet the delivery needs of the charity

About the Role
As Assistant Adjudicator (AA), you will work as part of the Adjudication Team, who are responsible for the review and resolution of student complaints. The cases it deals with tend to be complex and/or entrenched and cases where the issues involved present risks to the organisation, to the student or to provider, which are more likely to arise and/or may have a greater impact.
The Adjudication Team is a collaborative casework environment and most cases it deals with will already have been through the triage process which is conducted by the Assessment & Resolution Team (ART) and which involves gathering initial information about the case. Assistant Adjudicators work at pace to see cases through to conclusion by either writing and issuing clear, concise, accurate and well-reasoned decisions (Complaint Outcomes) or by negotiating settlements.
Your cases will typically be more complex with a higher level of risk or the potential to have a greater impact on the student, the provider and/or on the organisation. Most of the cases you deal with will already have been through our triage process, which involves gathering information about the cases. The information and electronic files you work with will typically involve large amounts of written documentation.
You will be expected to provide excellent customer service and as well as progressing cases in a timely way, you will have a targeted number of cases to review and close each month.
About You
We are looking to recruit talented professionals into the case-handling team in the role of Assistant Adjudicator. You will be skilled at evaluating large amounts of written information as well as exercising your judgment to reach well-reasoned decisions and to resolve complaints. You will have the skills and flexibility to manage a varied and demanding caseload and will be able to clearly and persuasively explain your decision in writing and to communicate with different service users.
You will have:
• Honours degree or equivalent professional qualification or experience
• Experienced at dealing with a range of people at various levels
• Experience of managing and maintaining a heavy workload
• Excellent analytical and investigatory skills

About You
The Policy and Engagement Manager is responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of the Society’s growing policy and engagement programme.
This role will report to the Head of Engagement and Storytelling, with managerial responsibilties for the Policy and Engagement Officer, and will have responsibility for leading the development and coordination of key strategic policy and engagement activities, including progressing external scientific and higher education policy for the Society and promoting the importance of engaging in policy-making to members of the Society.
Suitable candidates will have experience in developing evidence-based policy, including in research, innovation and higher education policy. They will also have excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to manage and build effective relationships with key stakeholders engaging in the Society’s activities.

This position will work across both the Network Rail Partnership team and the External Affairs team in order to provide dedicated focus, resource and specialist expertise – providing a conduit for these skills and colleagues in the rail sector.
Skills and experience you’ll need
In this role, you’ll need experience of working in a press office, PR agency, or similar role within a wider communications team or media outlet, having developed excellent communication and written skills, along with a good working knowledge of UK media landscape, a strong news sense and experience selling-in.
Working with stakeholders across the rail industry, you’ll have experience of influencing, negotiating and, ideally, partnership working. Warm, personable and friendly, you’ll have strong interpersonal skills and be able to build and maintain relationships with many different groups of people.
Highly organised and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines, you’ll be a self-starter with experience of successful project management. You’ll need compassion and resilience to work with exposure to incidents and stories that may be upsetting.
