Reporting to: Director of Impact and Charitable Programmes
Salary: Starting salary £35,674 per annum
Hours and basis: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week / Permanent Position

Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity is looking for an organised, strategic and relationship-focused professional to join our Impact Team as Grants Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery and development of our charitable grants and research funding programmes, ensuring that funds entrusted to the Charity deliver meaningful and measurable impact for children, young people and their families.

About the role

In this pivotal role, you will oversee the Charity's grants and research funding programmes, managing the full grant lifecycle from application and assessment through to award management, monitoring and impact evaluation.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Charity, Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust, researchers and external partners, you will ensure funding programmes are delivered effectively, governed robustly and aligned with the Charity's strategic priorities.

You will play a key role in evidencing and communicating the impact of charitable investment, helping us demonstrate how funding improves care, facilities, treatment, research and patient experience across Sheffield Children's.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of the Charity's grants and research funding programmes.
• Manage the full lifecycle of grants and funding awards, from application through to monitoring and project closure.
• Coordinate funding review panels, assessment processes and decision-making activities.
• Develop and maintain effective systems, processes and governance arrangements to support funding programmes.
• Monitor funded projects against agreed outcomes, milestones and reporting requirements.
• Analyse programme performance and impact data, producing reports and recommendations for senior leaders and trustees.
• Build strong relationships with NHS colleagues, researchers, grant holders and external partners.
• Work closely with fundraising and communications colleagues to demonstrate the impact of charitable funding.
• Ensure compliance with governance, audit and reporting requirements.
• Provide day-to-day leadership and support to the Grants & Research Officer.

About you

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive individual with experience of managing grant programmes, funding initiatives or complex projects.

You will be confident working with a range of stakeholders, analysing information and using evidence to support decision-making. You will enjoy balancing strategic thinking with hands-on programme delivery and will be passionate about ensuring charitable funding achieves the greatest possible impact.

You will bring:

• Experience of managing grant programmes, research funding programmes or similar initiatives.
• Strong programme and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• Experience monitoring outcomes, evaluating impact and producing performance reports.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of governance, compliance and risk management processes.
• Experience using CRM systems, databases and Microsoft Office applications.
• A collaborative, solution-focused and values-driven approach to work.

Experience within a charity, healthcare, NHS, academic or research environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
