Job description

Recovery Worker

We're on the lookout for a dedicated and empathetic professional to join our team as a Recovery Worker. The perfect fit for this role will have a genuine passion for assisting individuals battling substance misuse disorders, and a strong commitment to positively impacting their lives. If you possess a solid background in addiction counselling, crisis intervention, and client advocacy, we'd love to connect with you.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individual and group counselling sessions to clients grappling with substance misuse disorders.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the unique needs and objectives of each client.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop tailored treatment plans, taking into account their specific circumstances.
  • Lead psychoeducational workshops and support groups covering topics like relapse prevention, coping mechanisms, and life skills enhancement.
  • Track and document client progress, making adjustments to treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal results.
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including therapists, medical professionals, and social workers, to provide holistic care and assistance to clients.
  • Offer crisis intervention and support to clients facing emotional or behavioural crises.
  • Advocate for clients' rights and access to community resources such as housing, employment, and healthcare services.
  • Uphold confidentiality and adhere to ethical and legal standards in all interactions with clients and colleagues.
  • Engage in continuous training and professional development endeavours to enhance expertise in the realm of substance misuse treatment.

Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Certification or licensure as a Substance Misuse Counsellor is preferred.
  • Prior experience in substance treatment or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in addiction treatment and recovery.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Ability to thrive both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Compassion, empathy, and a nonjudgmental approach towards individuals grappling with substance disorders.
  • Familiarity with community resources and support services for individuals dealing with substance issues.
  • Willingness to comply with agency policies and procedures, including confidentiality and ethical guidelines.
