Why this role is important – and why you’ll make a difference doing it:
HOPE not hate is the UK’s leading anti-fascist organisation. Our mission is simple: To monitor and challenge the far right, to engage in the communities that are susceptible to them and to address the issues and policies which give rise to them.
Over the last five years, we have grown steadily, with our research and intelligence work exposing and undermining the far right, even foiling a murder plot, our community engagement providing expertise to vulnerable communities and our work in schools growing to teach young people to recognise and challenge prejudice and hate.
About the role
The Community Outreach Officer will deliver on helping the communities susceptible to the far right. As part of the policy team, they will have access to research and policy insights on the issues which are causing tension and divisions in communities and where these tensions are most acute, and use this to devise locally-led solutions in partnership with key figures in the community and relevant sectors.

Part of the strategy will include a plan to extend and deepen HOPE not hate’s existing relationships in key areas across the UK. It will also involve designing and publicising resources, developing and delivering training and writing regular briefings.
Willingness to work with a variety of stakeholders is important. The role will include liaising with local authorities, national and local organisations and grassroots community activists to build and facilitate the design of locally-led community resilience strategies. There will also be access to our existing networks and relationships across relevant sectors e.g. migration and refugee sector, community cohesion and local authorities. An understanding that communities and community groups are the experts on their own needs is crucial – solutions should be developed with, not for, those most impacted.

We are looking for 3 Administrative Assistants based in 1x Addis Ababa Ethiopia, 1x Hargeisa Somaliland & 1x Lilongwe Malawi

Grants for UK-LMIC and cross-LMIC health partnerships will be awarded to respond to national HWF priorities identified through a scoping assessment carried out by THET with DHSC, FCDO, national Governments and stakeholders (such as local World Health Organisation offices). These grants will run until December 2025.

THET will award 28-36 strategic grants of £100,000 – £350,000 that feed into the country scoping priorities and outputs outlined above. The grants will broadly be split across the six countries; however, the exact split is dependent on the number and quality of applications received and broader priorities.
20-28 smaller grants of up to £50,000 will also be available for projects that tackle specific areas such as innovation, rural health facilities, diaspora engagement, leadership opportunities for women and protected groups, and the climate crisis.

That requires working together in new ways, empowering radical acts of co-creation across communities, sectors and boundaries. Investing in the right technological and finance infrastructure for The Young Foundation is overdue, and we are looking for a self-starting candidate with proven experience in digital transformation and change to increase efficiency, knowledge management, and reporting of vital management information. The assessment of business needs and analysis of possible solutions has been undertaken and the successful execution of this transformation is a key deliverable in the first 12 months of the role.
We are a charity earning our income through commissions, grant funding, and by responding to tenders. As such, we need to think and act as a consultancy, supported by our Finance team. We are looking for a hands-on, motivated individual with a solid background in consultancy and charity finance and digital transformation.
