As our Finance Manager you will be at the heart of the charity’s operations and play a vital role in helping us embark on a new 3-year strategy. Working closely with the Director of Operations and CEO your role and expertise will be pivotal in driving excellence and integrity in financial management and strategic financial decisions. 

Your responsibilities will span the entire financial lifecycle, from budgeting and forecasting to meticulous reporting and process optimisation, you will also lead on management reporting, cashflow planning and the delivery of WellChild’s audit, Annual Report & Accounts.

You will have a detailed knowledge of accounting principles (ideally from within the charity sector), strong analytical skills; be able to demonstrate both operational and strategic thinking and have a proficiency in accounting alongside a relevant finance qualification; (ACA, ACCA, ACMA).

You will also need to have advanced excel skills, experience of charity accounts, SORP and charity VAT and be able to plan, prioritise and organise your work with impeccable attention to detail.

We are looking a practical, passionate and nurturing person to join our Community & Engagement team as our Youth Officer. In this role you will cultivate a supportive community of youth leaders and young volunteers, and run workshops for schools and youth groups. You will help 11-24 year olds to develop their knowledge, skills and passion for nature, and fight against climate and eco-anxiety through an inspiring nature restoration project. This role is partly funded by the Natural Heritage Lottery Fund, through a project run in partnership with Action for Conservation.

If you have strong ecology and land-based skills, the ability to create and hold inclusive and welcoming spaces for young people, and believe in putting young people at the heart of the conservation sector, we want to hear from you. This role is 22.5 hours a week, with flexibility over how this is spread across the week, however some evening and weekend work is required.

Senior Fundraiser

Friends of Ibba Girls School, South Sudan (UK charity number 1146220)

Friends of Ibba Girls School, South Sudan (FIGS), was established in 2011 in response to a specific request from local community leaders to help them build and develop a girls’ residential school in South Sudan.  Ibba Girls Boarding School (IGBS) now educates 360 primary and secondary school girls from across the whole of Western Equatoria State and employs 40 staff (teachers, matrons, cooks and other support staff). The school is on a large, green campus and provides not only high-quality teaching but a visible demonstration of the benefits of school education in South Sudan, where most girls leave school before the end of primary and very few achieve secondary qualifications.  FIGS is a relatively small organization but it is making a substantial impact by providing a model of good quality girls’ schooling across South Sudan.

FIGS has achieved notable successes – the school which opened in 2014, initially with 40 girls, has now reached its full size of 360 girls, with excellent exam results and has reduced dropout from school. It is nurturing empowered women who can exercise leadership locally and nationally for this newly independent nation. FIGS works closely with the experienced and widely-acclaimed Windle Trust International, who provide technical financial and organizational support to the school in South Sudan. 

FIGS has raised about £4 million over the last 10 years, particularly through relational fundraising.  Running costs for a boarding school in South Sudan are around £ 1/3 million each year, so fundraising is a key task for FIGS.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced fundraiser with a strong and demonstrable track record to play a crucial role in expanding the donor base of FIGS, while sustaining and engaging the large network of existing supporters and donors.  You will lead the fundraising work and will use your skills across a wide range of fundraising functions, including expanding the number and range of individuals, corporates, philanthropists, schools, churches, legacies and trusts. 

We need the help of a talented individual to implement FIGS’ fundraising strategy and action plan, working with those Trustees who are able to give some time to fundraising and with solid help from a part-time fundraising consultant.  There is plenty to enjoy in the varied work, where one can see visible results in the impact it has on the school, its students and staff, parents and communities across Western Equatoria State and across the nation of South Sudan.

The post can be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis (where part-time is at least 3 days a week).  It will be on a self-employed consultancy basis.  Hours can be flexible by arrangement. The person will work mainly from home, liaising online with Trustees and others, but some travel to events in London and elsewhere will be needed on an occasional basis. We are looking for someone to start as soon as mutually convenient. A contract will be one year in the first instance, and can be renewed subject to satisfactory performance.  The remuneration as a self-employed person is in the range of £35-42K dependent on track record and experience (or pro rata). 

Key responsibilities

· To support the delivery of the fundraising plan, achieving or exceeding targets and KPIs, both financial and non-financial as agreed with the Chair of FIGS Trustees and Chair of its fundraising group.

· To identify and generate new fundraising opportunities, from the corporate and philanthropic sectors, as well as from organizations, groups and individuals

· To widen the existing network of donors, based on relationship development and management and engagement with existing supporters and donors, and creating new opportunities

· To generate a pipeline of activities across a range of fund-raising streams

· Develop strong relationships with all external stakeholders. 

· Produce progress reports for FIGS Trustees about fundraising in relation to targets and budget and make recommendations for future streams of work.

· Attend key fundraising and supporter events to generate significant income, support and profile.

· Be an ambassador for FIGS.

· Ensure fundraising activities are in line with FIGS’ values and policies, relevant legislation and the Fundraising Regulator Code of Practice.

This is an exciting opportunity to help Cambridge City Food Bank realise it’s vision of ending the need for foodbanks, through an ambitious strategy creating a network of affordable food clubs, financial inclusion projects, and campaigning to change current systems which contribute to food insecurity – whilst working alongside it’s eight existing foodbank welcome centres.

Reporting to the Development Director, you’ll carry out key administrative tasks, growing the support and development function of the Charity; including stewardship communications with individual donors and creating assets for community supporters to generate food and financial resources. With the support of external consultants, you will assist the securing of income from grant giving trusts and foundations.

Main Duties:

● Develop strong individual donor relations through regular stewardship communications and powerful fundraising appeals, alongside establishing the associated data and systems; growing supporters.

● Create community development assets, which enables community groups to engage with and provide resources for the Charity, such as for charitable fundraising / food donation events.

● Together with the Development Director, secure income from, and maintain relations with grant giving trusts and foundations, including working alongside external consultants.

● Together with the Development Director, develop a team of volunteers who can support the work of the Charity’s development function.

● Support the Development Director in their communication with corporate partners, to build good relations, gain and maintain corporate partner support.

● Liaise with colleagues across the Trussell Trust network; sharing best practice and participating in learning opportunities, to further the work of Cambridge City Foodbank.

● Other administrative activities may be requested from time to time by the CEO, Development Director and senior staff, consistent with the needs of the Charity.

Personal Specification:

Technical skills and minimum knowledge:

● Strong administrative experience, highly organised, and able to effectively juggle multiple administrative tasks at the same time!

● Competent in the use of Zoom/Teams and MS Office software.

● Excellent written and verbal communication and relationship management skills, you will inspire and motivate existing and prospective supporters, providing excellent stewardship and crafting compelling donor updates, applications and appeals.

NB. Experience of charitable fundraising is not essential when demonstrating the strong transferable skills above. Training will be provided.

Stepping Stones exists to improve the lives of adults with learning disabilities. We are seeking an enthusiastic and agile manager who will be at the heart of the organisation and will lead a small team of qualified tutors and volunteers in continuing to provide high quality experiences for the people who attend. Stepping Stones is a community that loves to socialise and learn new skills together. Our current programme includes art, dance, drama and music, together with digital skills and cooking.

This role is responsible for strategic development with the guidance of the Board of Trustees, income generation, and the management of all aspects of service delivery. It is our intention to appoint a new post of Activity Co-ordinator to support the Charity Manager as budgets allow. You will play an active part in designing this role so that it enhances our delivery and increases capacity within the organisation.

Our experience during the pandemic and consequently, has shown us that being together in real life is an essential element of our offer to the people who attend Stepping Stones and so this post requires a physical presence preferably 3 days per week during the period when classes are running (30 weeks per year).  We are open in our approach to recruitment and are keen to support the right candidate to flourish. Stepping Stones is a thriving, longstanding and highly valued community organisation. We have delivered activities for over 30 years and our weekly classes are an important part of the lives of people who attend.

Our main delivery is a timetable of up to 14 weekly classes from our base in a multipurpose community centre. We also have activities off site including gardening at a local allotment and music and art classes at a day centre and residential home. Each week over 100 people benefit from our activities.

Katherine Low Settlement’s work with older people 

Katherine Low Settlement has worked with older people since its conception.  We provide, often in partnership, a range of projects and activities for older people including a Lunch Club, social sessions and exercise groups. We work with older people to:

• Enable older residents to be dynamic and contributing members of the Wandsworth community. 

We are seeking a Temporary Support Worker for the KLS Elders Programme to assist during the summer months. Responsibilities include supporting minibus transport, aiding in the lunch club and social activities, and contributing to the overall well-being of our elderly members.

Working Well Trust is a mental health and employment charity in London.  All of our projects share the aim of improving the lives of people with mental health support needs, physical disabilities, learning disabilities and/or complex issues through training and employment. This role will be working with clients who have mental or physical health support needs, wanting to gain paid employment.

We are recruiting employment support workers for a new primary care Individual Placement and Support (IPS) employment service in the London Borough of Enfield.

Experience of employment support is not essential, it is more important that you share our passion and commitment to supporting people to find the right job for them. You will receive training on the IPS model and in supporting people with mental and physical health issues. We welcome applications from people with lived experience of mental and physical health challenges, either personally or through a close contact.

You need to have a desire to support people to achieve their employment goals, and the ability to multitask and manage your workload effectively. Good organisation skills are essential for this role, in addition to an interest in health, and the role it plays in the workplace. The successful candidate will need to become comfortable in approaching employers, persuading them to use our service, working with them to recruit our clients to fill vacancies and sustain employment.

No prior experience in IPS is required. The role we are recruiting for is as follows: 

Full time: 35 hours per week - these roles will be based onsite/in the community 4 days per week and work from home 1 day.

You will work with clients (managing a caseload) who have mental or physical health support needs, to assist them in securing sustainable paid employment in line with their preferences. You will deliver the IPS approach (for which training will be given); providing person centred support and guidance to clients, whilst building positive relationships with local employers to enable clients to move into suitable employment. We are looking for a Grants Fundraiser to lead our fundraising efforts through our 70th year and beyond. 

This is a new role, with the most important traits being a genuine passion for the aims and values of our charity, a desire to work flexibly as part of a small, highly committed team, and the ability to make positive things happen in the fundraising space. You must be able to communicate with very different people in different grant giving settings. 

You might join us with significant professional grant fundraising experience, or you may have been an active grant fundraising volunteer with other charities, schools or hospitals. You may be a recent graduate or someone returning to the workplace, or deep into your fundraising career. What is important is that you can bring bright ideas to life and action well thought through grant fundraising applications. 

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to enable us to grow a sustainable, annual income, through planning and executing successful grant applications and reporting. You’ll also need to identify and deliver future grant fundraising opportunities to grow core income. 

We are flexible about hours and hybrid working, but you will need to be prepared to come into the Bedford office on a regular basis.

The Trusts Manager will build on and develop Villiers Park’s trust fundraising, by cultivating relationships with current and prospective supporters, preparing compelling applications and reports, and seeking new funders and opportunities to help us to realise our goals and those of the communities we serve. Our established portfolio offers a unique opportunity for an experienced Trusts Manager to steward relationships and meet with funders across our hubs, to see our work in action.

This is a rewarding role at an exciting time for Villiers Park. We have four regional hubs cross the UK, with a fifth in development, and an evidence-based approach that makes a proven impact on young people’s lives. We are going into the second year of Scaling Award support from the Fair Education Alliance, which is helping us to extend our impact and reach.

About you

• Passionate about supporting young people from under-represented backgrounds;
• Experience of successfully building relationships with charitable trusts and securing five and six figure gifts;
• Excellent communication skills and able to cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
• Excellent planning and organisational skills;

• Good understanding of financial information and ability to communicate this effectively;

• An understanding of current fundraising trends and connected with relevant fundraising networks.

Main duties and responsible 

• Prepare and write compelling applications to charitable trusts and foundations who have the capacity to make five and six figure gifts towards the charity’s work;
• Prepare and submit scheduled applications and reports to current funders, ensuring that we hit deadlines and develop relationships with the trusts and foundations currently supporting Villiers Park;
• In collaboration with the Senior Leadership team, and colleagues in Fundraising and Communications, create engaging and accurate reports to current funders that share the impact of their support, including trusts, major donors and university partners;
• Develop and implement targeted stewardship strategies that bring current donors closer to our work;
• Identify new prospects and propose engagement and cultivation strategies;
• With the Head of Fundraising and Partnerships and Chief Executive, develop the trusts and philanthropic strategy to support the organisation’s five year plan from 2025;
• Prepare regular financial and pipeline reports, working closely with the Finance team on budgeting and forecasting;
• Support the Head of Fundraising and Partnerships to identify and develop fundraising channels, including family trusts, corporate foundations and legacy giving;
• Ensure compliance with Villiers Park’s safeguarding policies, and with the charity’s gift acceptance and fundraising policies and processes.

This list is not exhaustive and the post-holder will be required to undertake other tasks relevant to the role and within their capability.

Desirable skills and experience

• Experience of fundraising for an educational or social mobility charity;
• Experience of securing multi-year six figure gifts;
• Interest in extending fundraising knowledge and experience, to include major donors, legacies and university partnerships.

This is a hybrid role with in-person meetings at our office in North Cambridge at least every two weeks.
