As a Community Shop Manager for St Giles Hospice you will lead a team of paid staff and volunteers. You’ll be empowered to make decisions locally whilst working within a supportive framework. You’ll work within and for your local community ensuring that engagement and support is understood and promoted.
You’ll have great commercial skills, an understanding of why customer service is key and want to be part of a successful team. Ideally you’ll have previous retail management experience, be able to demonstrate strong leadership and have the ability to work with and motivate any team.

You will work closely with our immigration caseworker manager to provide one-to-one specialist immigration advice and casework to migrant and refugee clients in Brighton & Hove and across East and West Sussex in the areas of immigration & asylum up to OISC L2. We are currently the only free, Level 2-accredited, year-round provider of out-of-scope immigration advice on the South Coast, and increasing local immigration capacity is critical to address growing demand and changing demographics in the region. Our current core caseload is largely non-EEA nationals whose immigration cases are out of scope of legal aid. However we are also seeing and will continue to see new arrivals and emerging needs in the region including Afghans resettled under the ARAP and ACRS schemes, Sudanese evacuees, EEA nationals who still have not registered for pre-settled or settled status, and an increasing number of both newly arrived and established asylum seekers placed in emergency (‘contingency’) and dispersal Home Office accommodation.
The balance of time spent between different client groups and cases will therefore need to be responsive to the changes we see in the city and region. Many of our clients also have complex additional needs including health and homelessness and the post holder will be expected to liaise closely with our generalist caseworkers and external providers to ensure that people’s holistic needs are met.
You will work as part of a small, supportive advice and casework team that also includes two generalist advice caseworkers, an employability caseworker, a groupwork facilitator and four dedicated resettlement caseworkers who are supporting newly resettled refugee families mainly from Syria and Afghanistan.
Regular supervision and support and in-house and on-the-job training will be provided, as well as external training on specific issues where needed. However you will need to be ready to step immediately into a busy advice environment with the necessary confidence, skills and knowledge to begin to deliver advice and casework and pick up an existing caseload.
Ideally you will already be OISC L2-accredited, but if only L1-accredited you must be willing to work towards accreditation within the 6-month probationary period.

Job Purpose
This role is within our crisis alternative service Safe Space - an out of hours service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed and experiencing crisis. The service operates 365 days a year from 12:00pm (midday) - 11:30pm across all of our boroughs. The role will consist of two shift patterns to ensure the service is covered: 11:30am-6:30pm and 4:30-11:30pm. This will be on a rota basis across support workers.
Staff within the service will provide person-centred, practical and emotional support, face to face or via telephone on a one-to-one or group basis to individuals experiencing mental health crisis. This will consist of 1:1 support; de-escalating and providing interventions, signposting for specialised or longer-term support, and delivering collaborative self-management plans with clients to improve mental wellbeing. The aim of this service is to de-escalate and prevent further crises.
The objectives of the service include:
- To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health crisis in HFEH.
- To provide support to clients accessing the service- for instance: signposting, de-escalation, planned wellbeing activities etc.
- To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
- To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
- To treat service users with respect, dignity and personalised support
- To raise awareness of mental health services available with the goal to improve long term mental health and reduce social isolation
- To increase self-management skills of those accessing the service
- To reduce the use of police, ambulance and statutory mental health services whilst experiencing crisis.

The Role
The role of the support workers will be to support the rest of the team in delivering interventions on a one-to-one and group basis. Overview of Role:
As a Support Worker, you will be working with young people aged 12-25 years old who have experience of self-harm. Within that age group, you will predominantly be working with young people under 18. The post would suit an experienced support worker, preferably with knowledge of the issues experienced by young people who are trans / non-binary.
You will play a key role in providing them with support and advocacy both on a one to-one basis and within a group setting; working with them to develop their emotional skills which will allow them to cope more effectively with the difficulties in their lives. Salary: £13,406 per annum (£26,812.00 per annum FTE).

This will be a busy, varied and important role working closely with the Head of Campaigns and Communications to identify opportunities to influence external policy to better support and represent the needs of those with endometriosis. You will be working as part of a passionate team with a strong commitment to achieving change to help those with living with endometriosis. You’ll have a sound knowledge of the UK political landscape and how to influence it and will play an important role in developing our campaigns. This is an exciting opportunity to help drive forward Endometriosis UK’s strategy and boost our impact for the benefit of everyone affected by endometriosis. Role Overview:
The Talent Set is thrilled to be supporting a leading health charity as they recruit a Senior Media and Campaigns Manager to support them for 6–7-month fixed term contract.
The successful candidate will lead the organisation’s media strategy, overseeing a Senior Media and Communications Officer. You’ll pitch stories, brief journalists, and secure coverage. Building relationships with national journalists, you’ll drive the organisation’s digital content and public campaigns, playing a key role in communications and external affairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Devise and deliver media strategy, including story development and placement.
- Advise senior colleagues and independently negotiate with journalists.
- Manage relationships with internal teams to drive policy changes and media coverage.
- Ensure diversity and inclusion in media representation.
- Support colleagues in securing news coverage and manage reputation.
- Develop and maintain public position statements for consistency and responsiveness.
- Advise on public campaign strategy, drawing on internal intelligence.
- Lead representation of policy and political work on digital channels.
- Develop audience-led content strategies for LinkedIn and Twitter.
- Identify opportunities for public mobilisation campaigns.
- Manage relationships with journalists and place stories in national media.
- Foster collaboration with internal departments and advise on media strategy.
- Provide media advice to contacts, including directors and CEOs.

Person Specification
- Exceptional writing skills.
- Significant experience in a Media/PR professional role.
- Able to contribute creative ideas to generate content for news and features stories.
- Experience of developing media strategies that deliver exceptional news and features coverage.
- Demonstrable experience of developing media relationships and partnerships and outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate on challenging stories with senior journalists.
- Understanding of how ‘traditional media’ interfaces with multi-channel integrated campaigning, and a strong eye for effective and engaging digital content.
- Work in accordance with and promote our organisational values at all times – collaborative, compassionate, inclusive, innovative and knowledgeable.
- Experience of reputation management
- Knowledge of healthcare policy and public affairs landscape and trends advantageous but not essential.
