We are SafeLives, the UK-wide charity dedicated to ending domestic abuse, for everyone and for good.
Last year alone, 14,000 professionals received our training. Over 80,000 adults at risk of serious harm or murder and more than 100,000 children received support through dedicated multi-agency support designed by us and delivered with partners. In the last six years, over 4,000 perpetrators have been challenged and supported to change by interventions we created with partners, and that’s just the start.
Together we can end domestic abuse. Forever. For everyone.
The Drive Partnership, formed by Respect, SafeLives and Social Finance, is working to transform the national response to perpetrators of domestic abuse. We seek to change the domestic abuse narrative that asks ‘why doesn’t she leave?’ to ask ‘why doesn’t he stop?’At the same time as delivering interventions, we are working across the domestic abuse specialist sector, public sector partners and beyond to develop sustainable, national systems that respond effectively to perpetrators of domestic abuse.
Our vision is that one day there will be a national approach which sees agencies in all PCC and local authority areas across England and Wales working together with a focus on those who cause harm, the perpetrators, to disrupt abuse and change behaviour.
Our influencing work is changing the UK conversation about domestic abuse, with both national and locally-based elected representatives and the officials and colleagues who work alongside them. Our PPAC Officer, reporting to the PPAC Manager, will be crucial in helping us to develop our engagement, as well as deepen our policy-influencing capacity to support our roll-out of ground-breaking interventions to end domestic abuse and ensure support for the whole family to keep people safe sooner.
You will be joining the organisation at a pivotal moment. The Victims and Prisoners Bill will be making its way through its final stages in Parliament and a General Election is likely to take place in 2024, providing an unmissable opportunity to ensure that SafeLives’ priorities for improving the response to domestic abuse are taken forward by the next Government.

- Work alongside the current Dementia Support Service in Suffolk.
About you

We promote a person-centred service so that our support is unique to everyone, based upon their own aspirations and needs.
We are looking for
- Working experience of assessing people face to face with an ability to assess their needs.
- Deliver advice and guidance with a non-judgmental approach and outstanding communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills to manage your caseload of clients effectively.
- Good IT skills and be able to travel independently across East and West Suffolk.
- An understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers would be an advantage but if you have had experience supporting with other challenges this would be taken into consideration.

Who we are
We’ve been on the frontline of the world’s response to HIV and AIDS for over 25 years, working with marginalised people who are denied HIV prevention and treatment simply because of who they are and where they live.
Set up in 1993 to work with community groups in the countries most affected by the global AIDS epidemic, we’ve continually adapted our approach, looking for innovative ways to break down the barriers that marginalise people living with, or at risk of acquiring, HIV. All with one goal in mind – a future free from AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
Everything we do is rooted in our two key beliefs:
- That the lives of all human beings are of equal value.
- That everyone has the right to access the HIV information and services they need for a healthy life.
Today, we work with communities in more than 40 countries, taking local, national and global action on HIV, health and human rights.
As a global partnership that is open to everyone, we can only do what we do – and achieve what we want to achieve – by working with partners from grassroots community groups to national governments. Our partners drive change where it matters, shaking up the status quo and making a noise on issues the world often chooses to ignore.
Are you the Candidate we’re looking for?
Our programmes work with the most marginalised groups in over 40 countries. This role will work across our programme delivery function to ensure we implement our programmes in a way that protects, secures and promotes the safety, rights and wellbeing of those groups – minimising operational risks to partners and strategic risks to the wider organisation and the Frontline AIDS partnership. It will also act as the central and strategic ‘lead’ on safeguarding within the organisation, providing analysis to and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Board, providing guidance and support to relevant departments, and our broader partnership alliance, to fulfil their functions and duties in safeguarding.
Building on your senior safeguarding experience, as Lead: Safeguarding you will work with expertise inside and outside the organisation to further develop and enhance practical tools to guide and support colleagues and implementing partners to work in a safe and secure way. The role will be focused on providing leadership on the complex requirements of safeguarding our programme delivery and will directly engage with Programmes colleagues and partner representatives directly to provide mentorship and training, as well as ensuring compliance with International, organisational and donor standards. Where reporting to statutory bodies is required, such as the UK Charity Commission or Frontline AIDS donors, the Lead: Safeguarding will take the lead in ensuring timely, compliant and quality information is submitted.
You are a committed team member with a clear focus on team objectives, as well as your own. You will promote best practice within your field of expertise and challenge ways of working to ensure the highest quality and levels of efficiency. Your actions will be aligned with Frontline AIDS vision and you will inspire the same behaviour in your peers. You are comfortable working in a matrix management environment.
