About Us

Care4Calais is a volunteer-powered humanitarian charity delivering aid, support and solidarity to refugees in the UK and northern France. Care4Calais is built on three guiding principles: firstly, that to be silent in situations of injustice is to be complicit; secondly, we carry out missions that are not being achieved by others; and thirdly to offer solidarity and humanity to those in need without judgment.

Following a period of rapid growth, we’re looking for a Chief Executive to lead our next chapter. Working closely with the Board of Trustees, you’ll work to develop the strategic direction of Care4Calais, oversee operations across the UK and France, and act as our principal public voice — fighting for refugee rights at a critical moment for the sector. This is a role that requires a leader who  combines strong values-driven leadership with proven operational and organisational management skills.

About You

We are looking for a leader that can bring

• Significant senior leadership experience at CEO level or at an executive level in a larger organisation in the charity, NGO or humanitarian sector 
• A track record managing complex, multi-site or cross-border operations, ideally having worked with a French entity
• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and income generation 
• Confidence as a public spokesperson with media and policymakers 
• Strong networking skills, and the ability to build and sustain relationships with donors, partners, and other stakeholders
• A genuine commitment to refugee rights, anti-racism and humanitarian values 
• Experience of fostering an inclusive, supportive culture for staff and the large volunteer network,
• Experience reporting to and working with a Board of Trustees

Terms: £80,000 | Reporting to the Board of Trustees | 28 days annual leave
