Seeking an enthusiastic, proactive individual with excellent communication skills and a commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable children in the South East.. 

We are delighted to share this role on behalf of Christ's Hospital who we at the Royal National Children's Springboard Foundation (RNCSF) are working alongside. We are seeking a term time only, Regional Coordinator to support the relationship between RNCSF and local schools in the South East to secure independent day and boarding school bursary placements and access to partnership activities for care experienced children (CEVC). The post holder will be involved in engaging school stakeholders by attracting suitable school partners and being a powerful advocate for the programme.

The successful candidate will need to use their excellent communication skills to influence stakeholders in Local Authorities and schools, ensuring the continued success of the “Broadening Educational Pathways” programme – a Department for Education programme delivered by RNCSF.  As you will be responsible for all applications in your region it is also essential that you are organised and efficient, with superb time management skills.

You will be joining a dynamic, vibrant team of 8 Regional Coordinators who operate all over the country but who work closely together, via Teams, to support CEVC into bursary places in independent day and boarding schools.  Our regional coordinators work out of a local host school (with some remote working possible). This position will be based at Christ’s Hospital School in Horsham. The role is for 2-3 days per week, term time only.  You will need to be available for up to 10 ‘in person’ days, and some travel may be required for this (for which you will be reimbursed). You will report into the Head of Bursary Activity as part of the Programmes Team at RNCSF.

We're currently looking for Nations Support Coordinators x 3 for Ireland / Northern Ireland, Scotland & Wales, offered on a permanent basis, to help us deliver our mission. Applicants will be need to be Ireland or Northern Ireland based. 

These are part positions based on 0.6 FTE (21 hours per week).

The Role

What will I be doing?

As Nations Support Coordinator, you will provide operational, governance and administrative support to help deliver the IOP's activities and priorities within your nation.

You will act as a key point of contact for volunteers, committee members, staff and external stakeholders, ensuring programmes and activities are delivered effectively and in line with organisational objectives and team and/or project plans. You'll specifically be responsible for a range of activities, including:

• Supporting the governance and effective operation of nation boards, committees and volunteer groups.
• Building and maintaining positive relationships with volunteers, committee officers and external stakeholders.
• Coordinating meetings, events, engagement activities and nation programmes.
• Providing financial administration support, including expense processing, monitoring expenditure and ensuring compliance with IOP procedures.
• Maintaining accurate records, reporting information and CRM data.
• Identifying and resolving operational issues, risks and challenges, escalating only where appropriate.
• Supporting continuous improvement of systems, processes and ways of working.
• Representing national priorities in relevant operational forums and contributing to cross-organisational initiatives.

Projects you may work on include:

• Delivery of volunteer-led engagement, education and outreach activities.
• Organisation and support of nation meetings, conferences and events.
• Governance reviews and committee effectiveness initiatives.
• Process improvement projects to enhance volunteer and stakeholder experience.
• Cross-organisational programmes supporting the delivery of IOP strategic priorities.

Who will I work with?

You’ll work closely with a range of colleagues and stakeholders, including:

• Nation and regional volunteers.
• Nation Board and committee members.
• Internal colleagues across Membership, Education, Policy and Engagement teams.
• Senior volunteer leaders and committee officers.
• External partners, stakeholders and suppliers.
• Members of the Membership Operational Impact Board and associated operational groups.

Ideally, we hope you’ll apply if you bring:

Essential:

• Significant experience supporting volunteers, committees and stakeholders within a membership body, learned society, charity or similar organisation.
• Strong organisational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Experience providing governance and administrative support to boards, committees or working groups.
• Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence and build trust with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Experience supporting events, engagement programmes or volunteer-led activities.
• Confidence using CRM systems, databases and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience of financial administration, expense processing and maintaining accurate records.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgement with limited supervision.
• Commitment to inclusive working practices and collaborative team working.

Nice to have:

• Experience working within a scientific, educational or professional membership organisation.
• Knowledge of volunteer management good practice.
• Understanding of charity governance and compliance requirements.
• Experience contributing to process improvement or organisational change initiatives.
• Knowledge of the UK and Scotland science, education or professional body landscape.

How will I be working?

We operate a flexible, trust based working model that gives colleagues autonomy over how, when and where they work, while recognising the value of in person collaboration. You will be working remotely, with periodic in-person meetings around the island of Ireland, and occasional travel to London/elsewhere in the UK.

Days of working will be agreed in advance, but some flexibility will be required to suit events and colleagues’ schedules.

You will engage in regular in person collaboration with your team (as operationally appropriate), as well as with colleagues across the wider organisation, to ensure effective operational alignment and to support our inclusive approach to working.

As an organisation we meet in person once a quarter at our Head Office in Kings Cross, London.

About the role 

Our passionate Regional Casework Coordinators are SSAFA’s front line of support for members of the armed forces community in need. They are the first point of contact for all beneficiaries into the Regional Office, assessing needs and allocating the case to one of our volunteer caseworkers. 

You will sometimes handle complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlying needs to determine the best way to support the beneficiary.You will have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensure that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service. You will have the opportunity to shape processes and procedures within the office which will lead to improvements in the service offered to clients.

To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA. 

Whilst the post is homebased, to be eligible for this role you are required to live in the East of England region, which includes Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk.  There will be occasional travel around the East of England Region, and you may be required to travel at short notice for face-to-face meetings. 

About the team 

The team work remotely and pride themselves in maintaining a close working bond which ensures the smooth operation of the office. You will work closely with volunteer caseworkers in the East of England, supporting them to administer casework for SSAFA beneficiaries. The wider support team includes a Regional Casework Manager and a Regional Manager. 

About you 

To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of providing welfare support in key areas such as disability, benefits, mobility, mental health support or local authority provision. You will have knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR and experience in dealing with sensitive information and people in vulnerable situations. You will be able to provide excellent customer service by telephone, e-mail and face to face. You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.

It would be advantageous if you have an understanding of the way of life for today’s Armed Forces, veterans and their families and if you have experience of supporting volunteers. An understanding of the voluntary sector and preferably the military charity sector landscape across the East of England would be valuable.
