About the role
We are the leading kinship care charity supporting more than 15,000 kinship carers across England and Wales each year. We’re here for kinship carers – friends or family who step up to raise a child when their parents aren’t able to. They care for more than 141,000 children in England and Wales, double the number in foster care, but feel isolated and need help. By supporting, advising and informing kinship carers, and campaigning together for fairer services, we are changing lives and changing the system.
Kinship’s peer support and community work, supported by Department for Education funding, helps kinship carers feel connected, less isolated and better supported by building local, carer-led peer support groups and strengthening wider community networks.
Our delivery model prioritises proactive outreach and sustainable growth through a volunteer model.
The team works in communities to bring kinship carers together, support and train volunteer group leaders, and grow groups to a point where they are sustainable and independent (ideally within 6 months). Sustainable means able to thrive without direct staff involvement or attendance. A central ‘Hub’ team then provides ongoing remote support, training and connection.
This role provides the operational grip to plan, deliver and continuously improve this work, while evidencing impact through robust data monitoring, reporting and clear storytelling.
Key responsibilities include:

Accountable for the set-up, growth and transition of peer support groups to independence supported by the Hub, using clear milestones and support plans.

Responsible for ensuring volunteer group leaders have high-quality training, guidance and ongoing coaching to deliver safe, supportive peer spaces.
- Responsible for embedding strengths-based, trauma-informed approaches and clear boundaries across all peer support activity.
- Responsible for managing external delivery partners or commissioned provision to support growth in specific communities, ensuring quality and delivery to agreed standards.
- Accountable for the identification and nurture of new group leaders and volunteers, ensuring groups are welcoming, accessible and inclusive.
- Accountable for ensuring a proactive outreach approach that builds relationships with kinship carers and local partners, prioritising under-served areas and communities, ensuring that learning is captured and shared across the team to build further confidence and competence in supporting under-served communities (minoritised ethnic kinship carers).

Essential requirements include:
- Experience leading peer support, community development, volunteering or relational support services at scale.

The governance and policy manager is a senior strategic and operational role responsible for leading, coordinating, and strengthening all governance-related functions across World Physiotherapy. Reporting directly to the CEO, the role ensures the organisation consistently meets the highest standards of governance, compliance, transparency, and accountability, in line with its global mission and constitutional framework.
The postholder serves as a key advisor to the CEO, board, and leadership structures, ensuring governance systems are robust, efficient, and appropriate for an international membership organisation. The role works closely with member organisations (MOs), regions, and speciality groups to enhance governance practices, ensure policy alignment, and support coherent decision-making across the global network.
The role also contributes to organisational direction by actively participating in the development and implementation of the World Physiotherapy strategic plan and supporting alignment with regional and other strategic plans.
1. Governance leadership and oversight
- Lead, coordinate, and oversee all governance functions and activities across World Physiotherapy.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with the constitution, bylaws, policies, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Regularly review and update governance frameworks, systems, and processes to align with international best practices.
- Provide authoritative advice and interpretation on governance matters to the CEO, board, and leadership structures.
- Develop and implement governance improvement initiatives to enhance organisational effectiveness and accountability.

2. Board and executive support

3. General meeting (GM) management
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver all World Physiotherapy global and regional general meetings in accordance with constitutional requirements.
- Develop and manage timelines for GM preparation, including submission, review, and distribution of papers.
- Oversee the drafting and quality assurance of reports, motions, and official documentation.
- Ensure accurate recording of proceedings, decisions, and outcomes.
- Verify compliance with all procedural and constitutional requirements for general meetings.
4. Regional elections coordination
- Plan and oversee regional election processes, ensuring alignment with organisational rules, timelines, and standards.

Person specification
Education and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in law, public administration, governance, business administration, international relations, or a related field.

- Professional certification in governance, compliance, or company secretariat (eg Chartered Governance Institute or equivalent) is an advantage.

It’s essential that they have experience managing multi-site or national teams, alongside a strong understanding of employment support or careers guidance. The Role

- Ensure our policy positions reflect the real experiences and insights of the neuro-diverse children and families we support.
- Develop and deliver Cerebra’s policy and influencing strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and research priorities.
- Develop and deliver influencing campaigns in partnership with Communications team.
- Work closely with the Communications Team by contributing to the drafting of responses to media enquiries on our policy and influencing work and act as the media contact if required.
- Liaise with the Legal Rights Team to assess the impact of current or proposed policies in terms of their actual or potential effects on children with neurological conditions at both national and local levels, and for their input into consultation responses.
2. Engagement and Relationship Building
- Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with decision-makers across government departments, policymakers, NHS bodies, local authorities, professional associations, and sector partners.
- Represent Cerebra at meetings and events, including engaging with MPs, civil servants, policy forums, advisory groups, and cross-sector coalitions and other key influencers, or brief the CEO or Directors if attending.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure our policy and influencing work is grounded in practice and informed by those delivering services.
- Work closely with the Communications Team to ensure consistent, impactful messaging.
3. Research and Information
- With one of our Lead Research Officers leading, you will oversee the tendering process and delivery of our research contracts.
- Working with our Information Development Officer to ensure that we maintain our PIF Tick accreditation for our information resources.
- Carry out high-quality research and analysis.
- Use findings from Cerebra-funded and external research to produce policy briefs, consultation responses, and evidence-based recommendations.
- Alongside our Lead Research Officers carry out horizon scanning to identify emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in child health, neurodiversity, and public service delivery.
4. Budgeting, monitoring and forecasting
- Working with the team and Director to set income and expenditure budgets for Corporate, Philanthropy, Legacy and Trust & Foundations to assist with any funding applications.
- Monitoring and reporting on income and expenditure and KPIs throughout the year.
- Providing quarterly income and expenditure re-forecasts.
- Ensuring all relevant information is recorded in line with charity, fundraising and data legislation and best practice.
5. Line Management
- Line management responsibilities for a small team, currently comprising of 3 staff.
- Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the team.
- Complete regular supervision and team meetings.
- Provide effective performance management to the team.
- Promote a positive and inclusive team culture aligned with Cerebra’s values.
6. General
- Monitor and evaluate the impact the areas of work that leading on.
- Support collaboration across the different Cerebra teams.

Together for Short Lives is looking for a driven and creative Business Development Manager to develop and secure high‑value corporate partnerships that will help transform the lives of seriously ill children and their families. Purpose of role
The Business Development Manager will lead our efforts to secure high-profile, high-value partnerships with corporate organisations that will generate vital income for children's palliative care. Securing new partnerships and growing our income requires exceptional collaboration skills; a driven, tenacious and resourceful nature; innovation and creativity; and a passionate determination to make a difference to the lives of children and families across the UK.
The main objectives are as follows:
- Secure new corporate partnerships raising funds to support Together for Short Lives’ direct work, and our National Fundraising Scheme (raising funds on behalf of the UK’s children’s hospices).
- Develop and deliver a business development strategy, including prospect research, managing a robust pipeline of opportunities, and developing a diverse range of business development products.
- Manage and develop relationships with a portfolio of individual contacts and organisations, including prospective and existing supporters.

Job Purpose
The Research Programme Manager will have a strong grounding in scientific research, expertise in grant management, and report to the Director of Research.
The role’s core responsibility will be to lead on the implementation and delivery of large-scale collaborative programmes and funding schemes. The post holder will have a visible presence within the research community acting as an important point of contact between partner organisations, researchers, committee members, peer reviewers and the charity. They will be expected to keep updated with the latest research developments in order to use strategic scientific expertise and judgement in the ongoing development and improvement of the Foundation’s grant funding schemes.
They will be responsible for the successful delivery of a large portfolio of active projects by working closely with others in the team to ensure all awards are expertly administered, monitored, evaluated and reported against, ensuring the outputs are of the highest quality and supporting the charities activities. The post-holder will identify opportunities to communicate the progress or impact of the work we fund and work with the communications team to develop compelling communications for our supporters.
Key responsibilities:
Grant Funding Programme
● Lead on the setup of large-scale collaborative research programmes ensuring robust peer review, effective contracting and close collaboration with funding partners;
● Lead on the management of multiple grant funding schemes, as well as ad-hoc applications that come to the Foundation;
● Oversee the smooth running of application rounds, peer review and ensure that funding committees function in line with AMRC guidance;
● Be the main point of contact for the AMRC with regards to research management;
● Support the ongoing implementation and development of the Foundation’s Grant Management Software, ensuring the research team are using the platform effectively;
● Manage project set-up including contracting, the development of detailed project plans, including go/no-go milestones and budgets;
● Work with the other Research Programme Managers to oversee the research programme budget including planning, monitoring and forecasting; work with the Directors of Research and Finance to ensure that accurate research finance information is available for organisational budgeting and planning;
● Seek opportunities to improve the Foundation’s grant funding schemes to increase the number and quality of applications received year on year, ensuring funding projects support the delivery of the Foundation’s research strategy;
● Monitor any developments or innovations across the sector and implement changes to maintain a high-quality impactful research funding programme.
Project Portfolio and Impact
● Oversee the delivery of large-scale collaborative research programmes including:
- Leading on management on behalf of funding partnerships
● Manage and oversee project delivery of the Foundation’s active project portfolio by:
- Building and managing relationships with award holders and attending site visits;
- Approving grant payments and managing the change process for any project amendments;
- Ensuring project progress is effectively monitored and reported against;
- Identifying opportunities for and approving any project communications.
● Lead on the development and implementation of an Impact Evaluation Framework, to monitor and evaluate the impact of the research we fund.
● Lead on the development of an annual impact report to demonstrate the impact of the research we fund.
Line Management
● Provide line management responsibilities to the Research Officer, supporting their performance and ongoing development.
General Responsibilities
● Support the Director of Research to deliver the Foundation’s research strategy;
● Support more junior members of the team through training and mentoring;
● Contribute to the team being proactive and supportive, and working effectively and efficiently to achieve agreed objectives;
● Support the development of research communications activities, working closely with our communications team.
● Contribute to the development and maintenance of strong internal relationships across the charity, working specifically with the Fundraising Team to support income generation;
● Support the Director of Research in the development of updates for the Board of Trustees and other groups such as our Scientific Advisors;
● Keep updated with the latest scientific developments in the field, attend conferences and build strong relationships with MND experts and other relevant stakeholders;
● Represent the Foundation at external scientific meetings and conferences;
● Undertake other work as required by the Director of Research.
Skills and experience required:
● Educated to PhD level or with equivalent experience in a science subject relevant to MND;
● Experience of research management, including the management of grant schemes, preferably with experience of using Flexi-Grant;
● Experience of research communications, including the ability to disseminate complex scientific information and present it to non-technical audiences;
● Experience of liaising with senior individuals in a variety of organisations with an ability to create favourable working relationships;
● Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time;
● A great communicator, with excellent written and oral skills and the ability to maintain relationships with a wide variety of individuals, including those within the Foundation, researchers and clinicians, relevant organisations and industry bodies, MND patients, and other MND charities;
● Self-motivated, proactive and able to work using own initiative;
● Organised, with a proven ability to successfully manage a broad spectrum of tasks, deadlines and individuals;
● Motivated to make a real difference for those living with MND and future generations.
Working Pattern: Full time, permanent, home-based with regular travel across the UK
Salary: Circa £45,000 dependent on experience
