Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity raises funds for all ten hospitals in the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). Millions of patients pass through the doors each year and 15,000 NHS staff care for them.

We’re looking for a Communications Manager to work in our small but mighty Brand & Marketing team (who were shortlisted for Communications Team of the Year at last year’s Third Sector Awards, no biggie) to raise the charity’s profile, drive income and demonstrate the impact our charity makes across the hospitals.

Job Summary

Ensure effective delivery of the charity’s marketing and communication plans to raise the charity’s profile, generate income, achieve our fundraising targets and demonstrate the impact the charity makes to its beneficiaries.

Working with the Head of Brand & Marketing, you will play a key part in activating our new five-year strategy and successfully communicating our new organisational purpose. You’ll master the art of engaging with a wide range of stakeholders in both University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) and the wider community to join us in doing great things.

You are our lead press contact and will work with local, regional and national media and partner PR teams to amplify the charity’s voice further and generate increased coverage of Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity (BWHC).

You’ll lead on key marketing activity, including fundraising events, campaigns and appeals, including the annual Christmas campaign.

Central to the role is ensuring we have excellent relationships with our NHS colleagues and hospital staff to enable us to identify storytellers, building on our “one team” approach and delivering impact reporting.

You’re our go-to person for our celebrity champions ensuring they are well looked after and engaged with our campaigns and appeals for additional reach and endorsement.

Key Accountabilities

Share meaningful content and powerful stories

• Lead the creation of specific charity key messaging and a case for support per project (e.g., Christmas, appeals) and ensure this is adhered to throughout all communications
• Understand our different audiences, utilising research and insight, and target communications accordingly
• Work closely with our fundraising teams on a content plan and delivery of communications, understanding the importance of stewardship, internal communications and our calendar of events
• Develop our impact portfolio, including the creation and design of the annual impact report
• Sensitively interview our storytellers, including patients, fundraisers and hospital staff, ensuring we’re using authentic voices throughout our communications
• Work closely with our grants team to ensure visibility around the hospitals
• Edit website content and ensure our news section is up to date
• Plan, create and post content on BWHC’s social media channels
• Create and submit content for UHBW’s Viva Engage that increases awareness and engagement with the charity, working closely with the internal and external UHBW communications teams to utilise other UHBW channels where available
• Lead on the content and design of Reach, our supporter newsletter, creating engaging and impact driven content
• Commission new photography and video, including obtaining permissions and consent for use. Monitor our image database to ensure it is compliant with GDPR.
• Create engaging video content promoting events, appeals or impact as and when relevant.

Champion our marketing campaigns

• Lead the promotion, activity and implementation of integrated marketing plans and materials as and when required across the year
• Manage the marketing materials workplan for the Brand & Marketing team
• Be the Brand & Marketing team lead on fundraising events, ensuring they have a good ROI and hit the fundraising/sign up target
• Work with the Head of Brand & Marketing to ensure any opportunities that arise from our partnership with NHS Charities Together and other charity partners are optimised
• Play a key role in the development and promotion of new ways of income generation, including merchandising.

Forge connections with PR teams and journalists

• Develop effective contacts and build personal relationships with local journalists and partner PR teams to initiate coverage and build strategic partnerships
• Lead communications activity for key national celebration/awareness days that BWHC can maximise income or engagement on
• Support colleagues with media interviews and delivering presentations, including supplying briefings or FAQs where necessary
• Monitor media coverage to ensure effective evaluation and reporting
• Lead on crisis communications planning and response and advise the Senior Management team as necessary.

Lead by example with internal communications and reporting

• Support the Head of Brand & Marketing with the quarterly team trustee report
• Provide data for analysis, KPI monitoring and internal reports
• Guide our internal communications to ensure BWHC staff are engaged and understand the activities and direction of the charity, including leading on Viva Engage
• Provide content for speeches, presentations and executive materials
• Work to continually improve internal processes to ensure they are effective and fit for purpose
• Support the CEO on LinkedIn content planning and creation
• To provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence and holiday.

Drive planning and budgeting

• Support the Head of Brand & Marketing in the development of the short and long-term Brand & Marketing strategies, business plans and budgets, prioritising workload across the year
• Manage the budget throughout the year and ensure any unexpected variance can be explained or accounted for
• In particular, lead, direct and deliver a new annual communications strategy, which includes our press and public relations strategy and our digital content/activity plan (working closely with the Digital & Communications Officer)
• Be an engaged member of the Management Team, contributing effectively to all departmental plans
• Manage and record any accompanying communications expenditure within the Brand & Marketing budget following correct ordering and purchase order procedures.

Lead and manage

• Line manage and offer direction to our two Digital & Communications Officers, ensuring they are supported in their tasks and responsibilities and meet their KPIs and performance targets
• Hold regular 121s, appraisal meetings and discuss training requirements/plans
• Support with the recruitment and management of our UHBW Charity Champions and ensure they are engaged, informed and convey key charity messaging
• Manage the relationship with our Celebrity Champions and ensure they are active and engaged with the charity and utilising their networks to maximise charity benefit and awareness.

This is a key role acting as a delivery partner on our projects, working on streams of community work across the Midlands, and within the staff team.

The National Flood Forum (NFF) is the only independent national charity dedicated to supporting and representing people at risk of flooding.  Established in 2002 by those affected by flooding, we passionately put people at the heart of flood risk management. The Role

IIED is seeking a dynamic and experienced Philanthropy Manager to work closely with IIED’s Head of Business Development and Directors to meet unrestricted income targets. The role also involves supporting IIED’s research and MEL colleagues across the organisation to raise restricted income. The focus of the role will be networking, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a mixed portfolio of funders and prospects with the capacity to give at the £2m+ level.

You will be responsible for developing meaningful funder relations, including philanthropists, institutions and multilaterals. You will work closely with IIED’s Head of Business Development and IIED’s Directors to win high-value, multi-annual, strategic and unrestricted funding, from philanthropists, trusts and foundations, companies and high net worth individuals. You will engage institutional funders and philanthropists on a long-term journey with IIED to support our organisational strategic vision.​

About You

​To be successful, you therefore need to bring significant experience in generating unrestricted and large, multi-annual restricted fundraising, and a demonstrable track record of directly soliciting or orchestrating the successful cultivation of seven-figure philanthropic gifts. The role will include directly building donor relations, generating leads, developing and submitting cross-organisational pitches and propositions, building donor intelligence, developing collaboration through internal and external partnerships, and directly undertaking fundraising to support IIED’s transformational climate change and sustainable development agenda.

The Philanthropy Manager sits within the Business Development Team and is accountable to the Head of Business Development. The role will entail direct unrestricted and flexible fundraising, donor research, provision of cross-organisational funding strategies, pitches and propositions.

The role will also support IIED’s teams with their restricted fundraising activity, including helping them to produce pitches, propositions, supporting application documentation and application budgets.

To be successful in the role, you will enjoy playing the different roles in fundraising, and know how to gauge what is most appropriate – the driver or the navigator, the broker or the facilitator – as you are motivated by achieving transformative outcomes that matter.

The Business Development Team sits within the Strategy and Learning Group, which includes IIED’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Team, and is responsible for relations with IIED’s core funders.

This role will be key to our growth, particularly from gifts in Wills. We’re looking for someone passionate about delivering an outstanding donor experience that will ensure our supporters feel engaged, inspired and motivated to give through SCF to build stronger communities in Somerset.

We need someone who can confidently create and deliver fundraising strategies for growth, using data and insight to inform and evaluate their success. Responsibilities

• Lead SCF’s legacy fundraising programme, working closely with the Philanthropy Director and Senior Marketing Manager to create and deliver a legacy fundraising strategy.
• Lead on the creation and delivery of a stewardship framework to deliver an outstanding donor experience for SCF’s supporters and partners, including fundholders, corporate partners, charitable trusts, legacy pledgers and individual donors.
• Lead on ensuring the team are making best use of Salesforce to support effective portfolio management and reporting, and maintaining high-quality data.
• Lead on the delivery of our annual Fundholder Impact Reports, working collaboratively with the wider team including Finance and Programmes and embedding more efficient use of CRM and AI to support this.
• Work with our Senior Marketing Manager to create and deliver a high-quality stewardship events programme, including our Annual Celebration, donor visits to charities and research and insight events tailored to the interests of our supporters and partners.
• Work with the Philanthropy Director and Senior Philanthropy Manager to refresh and grow our mid-level giving programme, reviewing our existing donor base, embedding stronger donor journeys, and undertaking research and data analysis to explore new opportunities such as next-generation philanthropy.
• Lead on the delivery of SCF’s Surviving Winter Appeal and any ad-hoc emergency appeals.

About the Role

As Service Manager you will oversee a group of supported accommodation services across Lambeth, Twickenham and Greenwich. The service supports young people aged 16 to 25, including those at risk of homelessness and unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people.

You will manage five properties and lead a team of Progression Coaches, Night Progression Coaches, a Senior Coach, a Floating Support Worker, an Apprentice and volunteers. Working closely with Lambeth commissioners and the Leaving Care Team, you will ensure high-quality, safe and responsive services.

Young Carers’ Project (YCP) Manager

Kingston Carers Network's Young Carers Project (YCP) provides information, advice and support to young carers in Kingston. Our services include a weekly youth club and drop-in sessions, respite activities during the school holidays, one-to-one mentoring and targeted family support.

We are looking for a committed, proactive person with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills to lead the YCP team in supporting our amazing young carers, aged 5-18, who all have a caring responsibility for a family member. We currently support over 4000 carers, including over 800 young carers, who are caring for a relative or friend with a disability, illness, mental health problem or substance addiction. The successful candidate will have the ability to plan and deliver a range of activities and support to young carers to ensure that the project aims are achieved. This role is a key member of the small staff team at the Girlguiding North West England Region Office, led by the Executive Manager. What you’ll be doing:

• Driving and delivering legacy strategy; acquisition, conversion and stewardship campaigns

The King’s Trust is looking for a passionate and highly skilled Communications Manager to join our talented Communications team as we prepare to celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2026.

In this fixed-term role, you will play a key part in delivering The Trust’s external communications activity during our anniversary year. By helping The Trust to maximise this milestone moment, the work you do will help to boost our public profile, reach new supporters, and thank our communities meaningfully – ultimately increasing engagement with and support for our work.

You will lead communications projects for our anniversary by developing bespoke activations and messaging, always ensuring the stories of Trust-supported young people are at the heart of everything we do.

You will empower young people who have been through our programmes to tell their stories across a range of different media and digital channels. As part of this, you will support the Senior Communications Manager in working with our Young Ambassadors, who are young people who volunteer to share their experiences of being supported by The Trust with our audiences.

In this unique role within the Communications team, you will be instrumental in shining a light on how we support young people to change their lives for the better, ultimately engaging more people in The Trust’s work during our 50th year and increasing support for young people.

The Services Manager (Housing) will primarily focus on managing New Horizon's busy Housing Advice service, delivered both from the day centre and remotely. You will work with the Head of Housing Services to ensure the service responds holistically to young people with multiple needs or barriers. You should have relevent professional experience within the housing and homelessness sector, be a passionate advocate for young people and have the ability to motivate a team to deliver high quality services in a fast-paced environment. You should be skilled in partnership management and able to collaborate effectively to identify and deliver new housing solutions for young people experiencing homelessness.
