Context and purpose of the role
It’s an exciting time to join the Ramblers as we have recently refreshed our strategy to support the delivery of our long-term ambitions.
You will join a small, high-performing team responsible for generating £5 million per year from individual giving, legacies, grants and corporate partners, all to deliver the Ramblers ambition for a future where everyone can enjoy the benefits of walking in nature.
Working closely with the Product & Innovation Manager, you will play a key role in delivering the fundraising strategy, leading on the delivery of our individual giving and legacy marketing campaigns across a range of channels. You will create high-quality, compelling campaign materials and ensure an excellent donor experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Income generation
- Play a key role in the implementation and delivery of the individual giving and legacy marketing strategy
- Support the growth of individual giving income in line with annual targets
- Develop and deliver regular cash and legacy marketing appeals to a high level, including:
- Developing propositions and cases for support
- Create compelling direct marketing materials, including writing persuasive copy and developing strong creative content
- Project management to ensure delivery on schedule and within budget
- Managing relationships with agencies and suppliers including design and print
- Manage a portfolio of affiliate fundraising campaigns
Donor stewardship
- Ensure the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system is used effectively to facilitate accurate supporter stewardship and reporting
- Effectively manage communications with supporters, including ensuring that donations are thanked appropriately, managing fundraising inboxes, and responding to queries
- Working with the Production & Innovation Manager, identify a pipeline of potential mid- and high-value donors for stewardship and conversion
Data and reporting
- Produce campaign and programme level reporting and analysis
- Work closely with the data team to ensure selections are accurate, timely and relevant to our various audiences, and use income data to make recommendations for future campaigns
- Maintain accurate, up to date and compliant records of individual giving campaigns and appeals
- Provide regular financial reports and reforecasts to the Product & Innovation Manager and Head of Fundraising
Relationships
- Build strong working relationships with staff within various functions of the Ramblers
- Work with other members of the Fundraising, Communications and Supporter Care teams to ensure that all supporter communications are part of an integrated supporter journey
The Person
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Experience working within a target-driven fundraising or direct marketing team, ideally within an individual giving context
- Experience of managing fundraising or marketing projects across a range of channels, such as direct mail, social media and email
- Experience of data-driven marketing campaigns, including segmentation and campaign analysis to meet objectives
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor communications to a wide range of audiences
- Excellent creative skills, including the ability to write compelling, accurate and persuasive copy across a range of channels
- Competent in the use of IT tools including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience of working with CRM systems

Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Challenge & Stakeholder Stewardship
This is the largest and most strategic part of the role.
- Take the lead on managing Tommy’s annual Corporate Challenge event, engaging multiple high-profile corporate supporters.
- Build and manage strong relationships with senior stakeholders across partner organisations, ensuring consistent, high-quality stewardship.
- Deliver tailored day-to-day stewardship, including weekly check-ins, regular updates, and bespoke supporter care.
- Work closely with internal colleagues to align stewardship activity with wider fundraising and communications strategy.
Event Delivery & Project Management
- Oversee the full delivery of the Corporate Challenge event day, coordinating logistics, timelines, suppliers, risk assessments and budgets.
- Line-manage and support Event Assistants, as well as lead on volunteer coordination for the event.
- Ensure a smooth, safe, and engaging event experience that aligns with Tommy’s values and fundraising goals.
- Track event performance and contribute to post-event analysis and recommendations for future improvements.
Marketing & Communications (Supporting Element)
- Provide light-touch support on marketing activity, including content drafting and communications planning.
- Produce compelling stewardship materials, thank-you messages, and impact updates.
- Liaise with Tommy’s communications and digital teams to ensure brand alignment and clarity of message.
Person Specification
- Proven experience of managing stakeholder relationships, particularly with senior corporate partners.
- Strong track record in event planning and delivery within a charity, agency or corporate setting.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills with a sharp eye for detail.
- A confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach.

Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Community Outreach Manager to manage and expand our outreach efforts. The Community Outreach Manager will be responsible for leading a team to deliver Betknowmore UK's Community Outreach services, engaging with local communities, and supporting individuals impacted by gambling harms.
This is a key leadership role that involves overseeing the service’s strategy, operations, and delivery, ensuring that services are accessible, effective, and meet the needs of diverse communities.

Knowledge
- Experience of developing and managing a mixed Legacy and In-Mem Marketing portfolio.
- Experience of stewarding legacy prospects to become pledgers
- Excellent knowledge of GDPR, Fundraising Regulator guidelines, and other fundraising standards.

The post will be responsible for proactively researching new trust and statutory funding opportunities and working with the Trusts and Statutory Manager to support and lead on applications to new and existing funding partners (£20,000+). The ideal candidate will be a Trusts and Foundations fundraiser with demonstrable experience of developing and nurturing relationships with funders and partners, understanding complex issues and working with others to identify solutions, and producing compelling funding proposals in support of this work. You will have a background in identifying and securing at least five-figure income from prospective Trusts and Foundations and statutory income sources, as well of producing high-quality and completing proposals, reports and presentations. You will be able to build and maintain relationships with funders and key stakeholders and have excellent communication and organisational skills, supported by an excellent attention to detail.
